What is success? Is success being rich and famous? Does being rich and famous make someone confident, popular, and happy all of the time? Or is living as the epitome of success stressful and unenjoyable? The definition of success simply depends on the type of person you are, but I believe that success has been mistaken as a materialistic element. Someone with an impressive job title or an excessive amount of money is not always deemed as successful, due to the fact that they might not be happy with their life. They might want a higher job title or more money. Success is personal and its definition will be different for everyone. However, when I think of success, I look past the fancy houses and “big time careers”. According to me, success is knowing who you are and admiring the person you have become. If you wake up, and you are pleased with your life, and your-self, then you have succeeded. I feel successful when I achieve goals that make me feel better about myself. When I commit and accomplish a task that makes a difference in the world is when I get an overwhelming sensation of success. Success has a different meaning to everybody, but in my opinion the definition of success is …show more content…
My short-term goal, to complete within this year, is to finish my first year of school with good grades and debt free. This will help me achieve success by giving me a since of responsibility and independence. If, and when, I complete this year debt free with good grades I will have done it by myself. I motivate myself and I am helping my mother out by earning scholarships and not having her pay my way through school. My second goal is my long-term goal. As of right now, I aim to transfer to Sam Houston State University and graduate from there with a teaching degree. Then, shortly after than I hope to be teaching young children at an elementary school. I know there will be time of struggles, but I am determined to achieve all of my
Success can be an extremely broad subject. There is an abounding amount of different views on what the “true” definition of success is. Personally, I believe that success is finding happiness. Success is waking up in the morning and not having to worry about whether or not the bills are going to be paid this month. Success is having a job that you enjoy going to every day. Success is having friends and family who love and support you. Success does not mean that one has to be exceedingly rich or have a lakeside mansion. As long as they are happy, they have succeeded in life.
Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of ones life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout childhood to work hard so they can grow up and make lots of money. But success takes many different forms. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. For some, success is measured by social status and wealth; for others success is determined only by the amount of happiness one feels.
What comes to mind when you think of success? If you answer big houses, expensive cars, or lots of money, then you are like every other person in the world. This false definition of success has been deeply embedded in to our brains in large credit to social media. Most people link success with CEOs, professional athletes, doctors, and other people with such titles. However, being passionate for what you love and overcoming adversity measure true success.
Successful is a simple word, however, the meaning of this word changes quite often. Each person has a different definition of success and that definition can change depending on the situation. Bob Dylan once wrote, “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.” This a very broad definition of success and should not be used. The definition of success should be “the pursued goals have been adequately accomplished.”
'One has achieved success who has lived well and laughed often.'; This quote seems to sum up what is meant by success. If you are able to laugh often and much then you have definitely achieved happiness. The idea of living well, though, is a very broad statement. In order, then, to define success in relation to this statement, we must first define what it means to live well. There are three levels of success, in my opinion: societal success, personal success, and academic or professional success. If someone can achieve all of these three levels of success, they are someone who has lived well.
My definition of success has changed a lot since I have come to USC. In high school, success was solely defined by my academic and extracurricular achievement. I measured my success based on how many A’s I got, how high my SAT scores were, how many clubs I was involved in, and how many leadership roles I took on.
Ever since the times of the BC era, wealth had defined success (Definition of Success). A wealthy person of those times would be looked at as a superior being, they would be someone you’d show respect for. They were successful. Although that's the definition of success back then, does it mean something different now? Like every human being, and every past structure of society, the word evolves with time because society's’ values change. The definition of the word “success” was often considered as the achievement of wealth, but now it has become modernized to fit into today's society. Today, success is thought as an individual doing what makes them happy in life, generally doing their best, or even contributing positive things to the world to make it a better place (What does success mean).
The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. It is about truly not giving up, reaching your full potential, and self-fulfillment.
Many people hear success and it is as if they can taste it, imagining that they are driving their car down the city, going to their million-dollar house, but in reality most people wont be millionaires. Everyone wants to have money and live in a huge house that’s a given, but what is the real definition of being successful? In different countries being successful can be having enough money to pay rent and maybe one meal a day, and most people are so caught up with what society makes everyone think. They make it seem as if you have money all the problems in the world will be solved, and that is not true. Successful is not having all the money in the world, successful is being happy with who you are and being able to support your family.
A homophone is defined as a set of words that possess the same sound, but carry a different meaning. The term success undergoes the same pronunciation for everyone, but each individual has the ability to create their own defintion for greatness. In a world full of greed and materialism, there are endless opportunities to advance and become any version of successful. Each human being is dealt a hand of cards that will determine their fate. Some inherit significant amounts of money while others are left to figure life out on their own. Success is achieved in a variety of different ways, but you are responsible for paving the pathway.

The definition of success can be extremely different form one person to another. Mainstream media have made us believe a potentially dangerous definition of success. They want us to believe that the key to success is having lots of money and living in the biggest houses. A lot of people work very hard during their lives to achieve their definition of success. To some it might mean achieving a life ambition, acquiring an education, or to some it may simple mean to be able to take care of one’s family.
I believe there is no one true definition of success. It is, to every person a different thing. I say this because humans are like snowflakes, there are no two that are exactly similar. Ergo it only makes sense that we breathe life to success differently. The one similarity of success for everybody is that it brings us joy.
Success may be defined in many ways by many people. According to Oxford English Dictionary, it is, “the prosperous achievement of something attempted.”(“Success”). That is, if one achieve his/her desire or goals, it would be considered as his/her success. But it is true that the definition and explanation varies according to the eye of beholder. Generally, Success means fulfilling the goals that you set for your life. For some, success may be money, big house and a luxury car. However, for others, success may be the happiness they feel after achieving their goal. I personally feel, success is not what is accomplished, but what is felt from
