During the late 1700s British citizens traveled by boat and explored what we now call the United States of America. King George still claimed that he had power over the colonists in America even though they were separated by the Atlantic Ocean. King George began to send mercenaries to raid, loot, and collect taxes. This led to many repeated pleas that developed into the Declaration of Independence. Amendment two, four, and five are indirectly addressed in the Declaration of Independence.
In the second amendment it implies that you have the right to possess a firearm for your own protection. It also states that there must be a well-regulated militia or army for the safety of citizens. This was put because those that left England had problems with the king’s decision to use the army for the wrong reasons. (13 colonies) I the Declaration of Independence it said, “He has constrained our fellow citizen, taken captive on the high seas.” For them to be able to take people from their homes it would require an invasion of property and possibly ransacking. The quote explains that King George sent people to capture colonists and forced them to commit treason. Later, it states “He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our town, and destroyed the lives of our people.” This explains how his mercenaries committed crimes of arson, homicide, and vandalism. By them putting this in the constitution it prevents law enforcement from raiding your home just for the fun of it. Just imagine how vulnerable you would be if officers could just break into your house because they are the “Authority”. No one would able to feel safe in their own home. This would interfere with one’s pursuit of happiness an unalienable
