fourth degree, Distinction and am hoping to reach 250 points by the end of this school year and the required number of points is 150. I have also never received any major disciplinary actions from the school. I truly believe that I contain all the qualities required to be a part of the Debate Honor Society. The initial quality, integrity is one I believe I possess.
I demonstrate integrity in my day to day actions such as; always being honest and giving my honest opinions, keeping every promise I make and I always follow the school rules. Humility is also a quality I possess because I know regardless of how well I do at any given there will always be more to learn. I demonstrate respect daily when I accept the different cultures of my peers or different opinions that I may not share. In addition, leadership is a quality that I hope I can bring to the society. I have leadership roles in the community. I have been the president of the teen book club at the library for the past two years, my primary responsibilities are choosing the book along with leading discussions of the content. It is my hope that with the help of this society and others, I will increase my presence and leadership positions in the school. As for service, I have been an active member of Key Club and have over 100 cumulative hours of community service as a sophomore. I surpassed the mandatory amount for graduation prior to concluding my first semester of high school. I genuinely enjoy giving back to the community and helping others and will continue to do community service through the end of my high school
career. Becoming a member of this society will be a huge advantage in my academic career, I believe I will be a good candidate because I believe that I possess the necessary traits required and more. I would be quite fortunate to become a part of this society. My hope for next year is to join this society which will hopefully assist in engaging me in further in debate with the competitions and the students.
Character to me is not doing good things to other people to look good, but to be good. I am always striving to help others out. I always am willing to invite someone lonely to a lunch table, or help others out while going class to class. I have organizational skills and am able to come up with many innovative ideas that will be beneficial to National Junior Honor Society. I am a great listener, but can step up to be a leader when needed. I am kind and polite, and always turn my work in on time and I also have never failed a class or subject in my life. I also have the ability to speak in front of large groups of people and present ideas. I think that I have a character that would really benefit in the National Junior Honor
In the play Doubt, by John Patrick Shanly, Sister Aloysius is treating Father Flynn unfairly. Sister Aloysius is the principal of St. Nichols School, who is suspicious and always doubt everyone, especially Father Flynn. She thinks that Father Flynn is guilty, but has no proof. Sister Aloysius doesn’t like Father Flynn in the school and his ideas. She treats him unfairly. Sister Aloysius treats Father Flynn unfairly when she still accuses Father Flynn of giving the altar wine to Donald Muller after Father Flynn tells her the truth. She treats him unfairly by forcing him to request the transfer without proving if Father Flynn is guilty or not and also makes him resign by lying about his past.
Nominees were asked to try and write about one experience, which proves quite difficult and uninteresting. It's much more interesting to discuss the value of the "pillars" of the National Honor Society. One thing defines us in life. One thing that outshines service, leadership, and even scholarship. In fact, without this thing, the other three are irrelevant. Character. Character carries us through our lives. It gives motivation and strength. It gives love and hate. It gives decisions of yes or no. Character is most important to me. It is character that literally defines all of us. Character is more than being kind and polite. If everyone's character could be summed in that way of unkind or kind and polite or impolite the world would not be interesting anymore would it? The world is interesting and so is everyone else, all because of character.
Finally, leadership is an equally important characteristic I display. As a class officer for the past two years, my job is to guide and encourage the class to participate in projects and events. Even though many were hesitant, I showed leadership and encouraged participation. I also am a possible candidate for an officer position in Student Council. I have been selected for this position based on my strong leadership abilities, such as bringing forth ideas, compromising for projects, and speaking up when others will not.
The Honor Code A quote spoken by once famous philosopher Aristotle states as such: “Dignity does not consist in possessing honors, but in deserving them,” (Motivational & Inspirational Corner). This quote very reasonably explains what it means to possess either an honor code or an academic honor code. Simply put, the self-dignity that comes along with properly following an honor code does not come by possessing such honors, but by deserving of what is given to you by taking the code seriously. An individual who follows such a code honestly would be someone who deserves the honor; however, someone who does not follow the code in complete honesty would be someone who possesses the honor with no meaning or pride behind it. An honor code is a very simple concept that is very easy for people to grasp and thrive with.

Cheating is an issue in which many students struggle with in today’s society. High schools and colleges tend to place an abundance of pressure on students leading them to cheat. Honor codes should be implemented in all schools in order to develop integrity within students, lower the rates of cheating, have students keep each other accountable, and to instill a sense of fear into students so they won’t turn to cheating.
On June 13th, I participated in a Young Debaters Program with other students from our school competing against various junior high schools in a debate contest. I arrived too early, was wearing a far too casual dress, and was walking in extremely painful shoes. I had butterflies in my stomach and I felt terrible. The debate was absolutely awful, but the experiences I had with my friends during and after the debate were some of the most memorable occurrences of my 7th grade year.
