Danny Devito, the mastermind behind “Throw Momma From The Train”, might be more slightly of his rocket than “Death To Smoochy” villain, Rainbow Randolph Smiley (Robin Williams). However that could be just what the doctor ordered. Barney fans steer clear of this dark demented comedy. “Death To Smoochy” is like nothing ever before put on the silver screen.
Childhood hero, Rainbow Randolph is busted by the Feds for trying to take bribes from parents whose kids watch his show. KidNet executives, Frank Stokes (Jon Stewart - The Daily Show) and Nora Wells (Catherine Keener) are faced with the task of finding a replacement, FAST! Sent with guidelines to find someone “squeaky clean” Nora sets off to find Sheldon Mopes (Edward Norten), who’s only gig as Smoochy, is to play motivational songs (self written) for doped up drug addicts at a local clinic. Don’t be fooled by the bright colors, the fuzzy animals and all the kids, this is not a kids movie, just ask Robin Williams, that’s if you can get him to say a sentence or two with out using the f*** word.
Sheldon Mopes (tree hugging, tofu eating Smoochy), seeing his shot at the big time, gladly takes up the task as KidNet’s replacement for a disturbed and lost Rainbow Randolph. An innocent and untainted Mopes soon learns the darkness and corruption that consumes KidNet and the children’s television programing industry. Feeling like a puppet, Shel...
The main protagonist of the film, Scotty Smalls, is introduced as a straight-A, friendless young boy who has just moved into a new neighborhood in new state. While
So basically the movie still had the Pinks ladies and the T-birds but all the characters were switched around. The main Pink lady was over being a Pink Lady and was over being with the main T-Bird. So the whole movie she’s looking for what she calls a “Cool Rider”. Then ends up discovering it was the nerd guys she’s been rejecting all year, which also happens to be Sandys cousin from Grease one. Wasn’t really much to the movie other than corny romance movie.
The actors, if they are even worthy of that title, are so bad that the great actors and actresses of the past are left rolling in their graves. The range of personality types include: a midget, conjoined twins, bouncing bikini babes, three no-life college life guys, a playboy bunny and Gary Coleman. Need I say more? The acting ability resembles the talent I recently saw in the third grade production of "The Little Red Hen." The appearance of the over all cast was not much better. Although, with a screenplay like this one has, I can see how many professionals wouldn't waste their time.
“Kids, kids. Calm down. I know it’s boring being stuck in the house, but there is no need to get hostile,” the children’s Dad, Martin, commands. He finishes making a caesar salad and places it into a salad bowl. He goes over to the radio by the fridge, and turns it up to hear the weather forecast.
“‘...A job? I open doors all day long. I drive a man around in his limousine...Mama, that ain’t no kind of job...that ain’t nothing at all’” (477). Walter wants to take the insurance check and put it towards the liquor store and start up a business with Willy Harris. However, Mama feels that going into a liquor business is not a good idea, Walter drinks regularly, they are not business people and she does not want her money going towards the business (461). Walter wants to pursue his dream, but when Mama gives him the money to put into the bank for him and Beneatha, Bobo and him give it to Willy Harris, ripping them off he runs off with the money. Walter and Bobo are devastated, their hopes for the business gone. Furious, Mama prays for strength and strikes Walter for his mistake (507). Beneatha realizes that she is no longer going to be able to pay for her tuition and gets mad at her brother as well (508). All of their dreams are gone and have no hope due to one selfish choice Walter

Children’s films have really progressed over the years to contain many layers of meaning and symbolism, in order to entertain and interest not only the kids, but also the parents. Zootopia definitely follows this trend, through its parallels to racism, gender inequality, and other forms of ostracisation which would be unlikely for young children to understand.
In line with a Toni Morrison analysis, a person holding a certain identity being able to accurately portray people of their identity allows them room for authentic representation and conversation. In fact, though filled with problematic aspects, the Netflix original deals with some very prevalent themes relating to Cox’s identity. This sentiment echoes when considering Cox’s role as “Frank N Furter” in the 2016 remake of Rocky Horror Picture Show. The character of Frank N Furter is a “sweet transvestite” crossdressing alien from their home of Transylvania. Frank N Furter constantly acts as a deviant and an object of moral failing from the perspective of the normative characters of Brad and Janet. In the original 1975 make of the movie, this role was filled by a cisgender man named Tim Curry. Upon its release, little discourse had been created around the subject of transgender identities and gender nonconformity. Thus, this depiction created strong outrage, fear, and backlash toward anyone deviating from gender norms. With Laverne Cox more familiar with the actualities of gender variation and feeling alienated from society, this role was given more depth and a different interpretation in a modern American
As Dr. John Abraham Stover Iii states, movies such as The Princess and the Frog, Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, and Big Hero 6 have defined modern Walt Disney Studios as a film company that encourages children to never allow unethical values define a society. Most recently, Walt Disney’s Zootopia directly addressed political and social corruption, as well as how to resolve discrimination, in which Chinese journalist Shirui Xue identified the social values of the film for children given the current political and social climate. According to Xue, young audience members develop the understanding that assumptions about someone’s capabilities, innocence, and intentions based on their background rather than character is discriminatory, moreover ineffective when striving for a society that stresses equal treatment and opportunities. Additionally, the teamwork of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde asserted to children that people of different ethnicities and genders can work alongside each other to achieve social activism so long as their differences are set

This article got me thinking. I had face situation in my life that because of my bad grammar I had let go of great opportunities. English is my second languish and I thought that as long as I knew the basic I would be ok in life. But as I got older I started seeing the pattern of negatives effects of my insecurity of grammar. My return to college open my eyes to a better potential in life just by continually a proper college education. When reading this article the wheels of my brain started spinning. The first image that pop in my head, was my children trying to mimic all the YouTubers online with their in style vocabulary. Then two little boys appear in my head, two little boys that I saw ones about 10 years ago for about 10mn. I have forgotten them, until
When the bell rang and it was time to go back to class, two boys from my class who were watching my lunch table performance walked with me. They introduced themselves, asked if I was new, and had quickly invited me over to play GameCube that Saturday. After performing fifteen minutes of card tricks during lunch, I had not only become “Ryan the Magic Kid,” but had also found by two new best friends for the next ten years, Sean and
Sunday mornings used to consist of lethargic snuggling underneath oversized thermal blankets while binge-watching Netflix for hours with family. Weekends were my favorite because it was the one time during the week I was able to laze in the comforting presence of my mother whom I rarely encountered because of her hectic work schedule. Since my parents divorced when I was only about five years old, I was raised by a hard-working single mother for the majority of my life, 2,614 miles away from my estranged father whom I rarely talk to except on birthdays and national holidays. Not only did my mother have to balance supporting me, but also my grandfather in the Philippines who was in critical condition after his third stroke in May of last year. My aunts and uncles could not cover the medical expenses on their own, so my mother invested as much as she could for the sake of her father. The distress and devastation my mother
Mid-July, after sophomore year, the updated transcripts were released. I already knew what i was going to see, exactly the same as what I received after the end of freshman year. My grade point average was not even close to where i needed it and my class rank was higher than the amount of days in a year. If I was going to achieve my dream of getting into The University of Oklahoma, I was going to have to make some major changes. So I decided right then and there that I was going to make a change, I could not let the same thing happen junior year or any shot i had at being accepted into my dream school was out the door. Summer flew by in the blink of an eye just as it always does, and I found myself getting ready for the first day of Junior
The moment I stepped on the ferry was like no other. The feeling of the moisture from Lake Superior on my skin was breathtaking. I have passed Mackinac city a million times but never experienced the heart-stopping beauty of Lake Superior and Mackinac Island. When I arrived to the island there were thousands of people all around me. I have never been accustomed to how many people were around, and on such a small island. Living in Michigan for almost half my life and moving away from this experience was something I thought would never happen. I really took living there for granted. I had never realized all of the things I never did until after moving and coming back to Michigan to discover more. I moved to Wyoming the beginning of summer 2010.
