How does the storyteller influence the way the story is told? They way the story is told has two perspective. One perspective is John and the other perspective is Lorraine. It shows how they see the world and how they live. They are both similar in a way. They go back and forth between Lorraine’s point of view and then John’s. If one of them is the only one telling the story, then it would be different. There would only be one point of view.

John and Lorraine

What force or forces does this character struggle against in this text? The force or forces John and Lorraine struggle with is death. This book is full of people dying. In the story, The Pigman, Mr. Pignati dies, his wife is already dead, and Bobo dies. Lorraine’s mother helps patients that are dying and John thinks that his father will die soon.

Explain how this character grows and changes over the course of the story/play. In the beginning of the story, John is reckless. He sets off firecrackers in the bathroom and pull pranks on the substitutes. John changes throughout the story by realizing that he has to take responsibility for his own actions and not be irresponsible. He then realizes that throwing the party was a bad idea. In this story, Lorraine tries to keep John out of trouble. She is a very sensitive person. She is afraid of her mother. Lorraine is a liar, just like John. She lied to her mother and Mr. Pignati.
