Dealing With Dragon Character Analysis

In the novel, Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C.Wrede ,the main character Cimorene gets looked down on by others , because she doesn't fulfill the ‘’proper’’ duties of a princess. Instead Cimorene would rather skip her lessons and have the royal servants teach her things like magic,fencing,and cooking. Her parents later found out and had the servants stop teaching her these types of things.This caused Cimorene to become upset,she also found out that her parents were going to marry her off into another kingdom to a prince named Therandil .Cimorene was talking to a frog and mentioned running away,Cimorene considered this idea and ran off into the The Forest of Enchantment. Cimorene doesn’t adhere to the basic guide of what a princess should or shouldn't do. Some say that she is acting like a princess but she really isn’t.
2) Cimorene and Alianora are Kindred spirits. Alianora is

similar to Cimorene but also behaves like a princess. Some ways Alianora is similar to Cimorene could be that both Cimorene and Alianora aren't afraid to get their’’ hand dirty.’’Both girls have done things like get across the parapet that was very jagged..Alinora does have her differences, some of those ways would include that she does want to be married,Cimorene feels she doesn’t quit want to be married off yet.
3) For example Cimorene didn’t like taking her usual lessons and instead she would do things like have the chef teach her how to cook, but the only things she really learned how to make was cherries jubilee. Cimorene does not act appropriately because of her actions. “A princess 3)volunteering?Out of the question!’’page 18.This shows that Cimorene is not desiring to follow the essential rules of being a princess.Medieval princesses weren’t allowed to this. “I said eight of them had come by;I didn't say they'd fought anybody.I sent them away.”page 30.Cimorene is displaying a that she does not want to be rescued at all.This shows that Cimorene is enjoys being Kazul’s dragon, most princesses would want to be rescued instead of being a dragon's princess.In some ways Cimorene does act like a princess,she did help take care of Kazul by giving her some warm milk that had some honey mixed in.
4) Some may say that Cimorene does act like a princess.Cimorene has done some actions that some may call “proper princess behavior”.When Kazul inhaled some of the DragonsBane,Kaul was very ill for a few days.Cimorene helped care for Kazul by giving her gallons of warm milk,with honey mixed in.Kazul finally awoke on the third day,when she did she was still very ill,Cimorene offered to run all of her errands.At the end of the day Cimorene was happy to have taken care of Kazul.

5) Over all Cimorene does not fulfill the usual duties of what a princess should and shouldn't do.’’Happily ever after?I don’t think it’s quite what you meant,Alinora,” Cimorene murmured to the empty tunnel,”but one way or another,I think I will.”Cimorene does act as a princess in soem ways but her actions towards others such as Kazul. In conculsssion Cimorene enoys being Kazu’s princess and helped defeat Antorell and Zeminar from helping Woraug become king of the dragons.In the end Kazul ended up becoming king of the dragons and Alinora and the stone prince moved out from The Forest of Enchantment
