Joel Zimmerman, operating under the alias of Deadmau5 (pronounced “dead mouse”), is an electronic musician and producer, finding his ground in the music scene in the early 2000's. Known mainly for his live performances and trademark headwear, Zimmerman has found worldwide fame with his ability to fill a stadium with adoring fans. His stage name was said to be inspired by a deceased mouse who had found it way into his computer (Last.fm, 2014).
Born in 1981 and hailing from Niagara Falls, Canada, even as a young kid, he was intrigued by computers and electronics, taking enjoyment in disassembling and rebuilding things such as toasters and televisions, which his grandmother would bring him to play with (Liss, 2011). He had an interest for computers, using his mothers work computer to practice coding and hacking.
Later, he was to use it to begin the practise which he has now perfected as an art, and would create music through his mothers computer. He started working on a radio show which showcased mostly dance music, called “The Party Revolution” (The DJ List, 2014). Using the latest technology available to him, and not just a turntable and microphone, he dappled with sampling and continued along the track leading him to become a successful artist. He worked a little while in web development and animation (Biography.com, 2014). Later, he was to work for an software company in Belgium, a software program designed to aid music production and brags to be “the fastest way from your brain to your speakers”- (Image-Line, 2014), something which Zimmerman believed was the way of the future for music. Through this time, he was always writing his own music. Before the electronic music evolution, he made efforts to try to convince recording s...

I am interested in Deadmau5's music because it interests me how a musician can incorporate technology into their work. He has the ability to press a button and completely change a song. Each of his live sets can differ completely from the last, most of them improvised and ever changing. He was at the forefront of electronic music, changing the way that musicians treat their subject manner. Not only does he use the programs readily available for electronic musicians to use, he also helps create and improve the software. In this way, he is nothing but original.
Today's music scene is slowly growing, and differentiating in styles. One of the newest styles of music that has broken out is a generally unrecognized genre of music called "Geek Rock." By taking the meaningful lyrics of Emo, the heavy guitar riffs of Grunge, and the do-it-yourself attitude of Indie rock, this genre forms a new-wave approach to music. Many new artists have been categorized under this label, including Ben Kweller, Ozma, and Rooney. Rivers Cuomo, front man and lyricist of Weezer, is predominantly responsible for this underground rock movement. By transferring his life experiences into a musical statement, Rivers Cuomo has the ability to appeal to his fans on a new level.
After the Prelude album, 2002 began a stale moment until he began putting together a project called Alchemy of Sound that later changed to DJversion666. He explained that he chose the name as he had been djing in an mostly open format I chose that name, as I had been djing for a few years up to now. He attributes most of his gain back into music to Exemia, whom has collaborated on remakes of his songs, such as “Goodbye World”. It was the beginning of having his music with the exception of instrumentals and “Future Gods”, on contemplation CDs. It resulted in him joining darkTunes Music Group when his album was completed and independently posted on Bandcamp. We asked him about upcoming endeavors since his new site was launched through Tangent D. Noir’s TheXFactory (a creative
Elliot Smith would imagine music, lyrics and story’s during the day and play the guitar mostly at nigh. He would not pay too much attention to what his hands were doing, he did this because he believed that it gained an unconscious connection to his music. Smith also had a liking to writing songs in bars , he believed that a bar was a half way point to being in public and being alone. He also enjoyed the background noise and music because it allowed him to switch off to his inner critic – his own worst enemy. “Playing safe is the best way to fail” Elliot Smith.

Music for Eighteen Musicians (MFEM) is a minimalist composition by Steve Reich written between 1974 and1976. Though this piece was a culmination of Reich’s previous minimalist work, it was also innovative in its elements of structure and harmony. Reich emphasizes this point in saying “there is more harmonic movement in the first five minutes of Music for Eighteen Musicians than in any complete work of mine to date.” It was also his first attempt at composing for a large ensemble building upon his frequent use of piano and pitched percussion with a violin, a cello and two clarinets. The context leading up to the composition of Music for Eighteen Musicians sheds light onto the reason why it was composed and in a greater sense why Minimalism as a whole was born.
The text of “Burning Chrome” by William Gibson, is based on the tale of two professional hackers, Automatic Jack and Bobby Quine. Jack buys a piece of unknown software that turns out to be a sophisticated and almost untraceable Russian hacking software. Bobby decided to use this software to break in and steal money from a high level and well connected criminal known as Chrome. After Jack agrees, the two hackers successfully break in and steal money as well as take down Chrome. These two characters live in a futuristic world where human anatomy and customizable technology have become one and both software and hardware have become crucial to the people of this time. In this essay I will briefly explain how software and hardware play a crucial part within the plot and how they differentiate from one another.
For the rest of his life, Cage created music. He took piano lessons again for a few years from several different composers, but gave up after awhile because he had no sense of harmony. It was at this point in his career that he was drawn to percussion instrumen...

Ever since I built my first computer early in 2012, I have had an avid interest in computing and technology. From hardware to software, I enjoy it all. I love everything about building computers, and I mean everything. From making the list of parts, to the Lego-like building process, to the final POST of the motherboard, I enjoy...
He was also an avid reader, so it makes sense that he is in the career field that he is in. He mostly lived with his father after his parents divorced so he was probably inspired from his father to become an engineer himself, as well as an inventor and entrepreneur. He was also bullied throughout his life which caused him to go to mainly private schools. His almost introverted personality is something that could have made him want to create things. His love for reading and keeping to himself allowed him research and think about what innovative technologies he could create. “When he was 17, in 1989, he moved to Canada to attend Queen’s University and to avoid mandatory service in the South African military, but he left Queen’s University to study business and physics at University of Pennsylvania. He graduated with an undergraduate degree in economics” (Elon Musk
