Going to school is very time consuming and so is having kids. Most people that have kids don’t finish college, if they started. It is a struggle to find people continuously to watch your child, especially if they are working as well. I have seen people bring their child to class if the teacher allows it. Parents have a hard time getting a babysitter. Being that Baton Rouge Community College is a community college most people cannot afford the daycare. A lot of classes you may need do not have an online course. Having a free daycare, open all day, on campus would be great. So many people would be at ease.
An increase in baby booming makes it tougher for working parents to find daycare. The facts prove that having children come with a true price. Even so it doesn’t change the issues of finding child care or makes them go away. When parents work, quality child care is a necessity. And it does not come cheap. For families with more than one child, child care can eat up one salary, leaving parents wondering both working is worth it. When thinking of child care there are some options to consider like choosing a child care center, the costs of child care centers, and waiting lists.
It’s been noted that recent studies specify that “more than half of all 3-5-year-old children in the United States attend child-care centers prior to kindergarten” and “Given these high usage rates, the quality of these early child-care experiences has become an important public policy issue” (Peisner-Feinberg 2001). It is believed that part of the issue is a result of parents not knowing what the primary purpose of daycare/child care facilities are and what high quality daycares consist of in considering a their child should attend.
Parents are able to witness first hand developmental milestones that are being reached. Examples of these milestones would be rolling over, crawling, and walking, along with many more. Similarly, in a daycare, fundamentals like tummy time are incorporated into an infant’s every day routine to help development. Staff at a daycare is also required to have an early education certification; the staff could be better equipped to help a child learn. This of course depends on the type of teaching style the parent of that child has. Daycare also provides a positive environment that encourages social relationships between little ones, their peers, and people of authority. Although the benefit of staying at home allows secure attachment between an infant and a parent, a youngster will not get the same amount of time to socialize with his or her
Many people spend hundred of dollars monthly for others to care for their children, but you can care for your own children. The biggest benefit of this is experiencing their milestones and growth. Gratitude is gained heavily. Owning a day care, can help you learn to appreciate the little things in life such as health and relationships. Working with children can teach you to be patient and improve communication skills. The gratitude received by both parents and children is emotionally satisfying. The advantages vary between if the day is home or center based. A home based day care has a faster start up time. The preparation for opening usually is within a few weeks or up to a month. Home based is cheaper than center. A typical in home day care costs $1,000 less than a center ran business. Tax breaks are an advantage. The portion of items personally paid for such as rent, taxes, and utilities are deducted as business expenses. The biggest advantage is more flexibility. The owner has flexibility in determining the hours and days of operation and also the program in general. This includes the daily routine and the curriculum being taught. A center based day care has its advantages as well. The owner has the ability to provide for more children. In home, the maximum is at least 10 children depending on the state. Business does not interfere with your home environment, when running a center based
Also the Forbes magazine published an article in June’s 2014 edition were they reported that according to The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that day care businesses will have some of the fastest employment growth of all industries through 2020, and also, according to data from Sageworks, child day care businesses in the US have consistently grown sales in recent years, even as many other industries struggled in the economic recession and subsequent recovery.
In today’s society the majority of families have both parents working in order to support their family. As prices to everything including daycare are going up moms and dads are working long hours, so they need help from someone to watch their kids. Many people are putting their kids in daycare which is great because they learn to socialize with other kids, but they also learn some bad habits.
When assessing the environment of the infant and toddler room in a local daycare, I found myself very disappointed in the center. The ITERS helped me to analyze what the daycare’s strengths and weaknesses are, and I found several weaknesses. If I were to enter the daycare to assess the environment without the ITERS tool, I would likely find it acceptable. However, when I have a checklist in front of me listing specific things to look for, I find that the environment needs a lot of improvements.
With all said and done, I think day-care is not a bad place for a child to be after all, as long as no one takes advantage of the situation. This means that the people supervising the children in day-care centers should not take advantage of their parents’ absence to mistreat them, and neither should the parents use day-care as an excuse not to spend quality time with their young ones.
As a parent it can be very hard to find the right daycare for your young kids. Recently I talked to a friend from high school who has two children in home daycare. Its kind of like trial and error, you need whats best for you and your kids.
