To conduct a research about date rape on a university campus, I believe the most conductive method would be surveys over ethnography or experimentation. I would use surveys to conduct my research because it would be easiest to get information fast from the college kids. The least conductive research method would be experiments; splitting students into two groups and having a control group. Having a control group would be silly because there is no reason to have a group of students come in and not ask them any questions. An advantage to interviewing student with closed-ended questions would make them more likely to answer such questions on this tough subject. A disadvantage is if a particular student is not honest. Using open-ended question
In what is sure to be a very solemn matter for all American students and their families across the country , in January 2013 , President Obama, the office of the Vice President and the White House Council on Women and Girls converged and issued a renewed call to action against rape and sexual assault report which analyzes the most recent reliable data about this issue and identifies who are the most in peril victims of this malefaction, investigates the costs of this violence both for victims and communities , and describes the replication very often inadequate of the US malefactor equity system.
The. Then I will use information from my criminology class to better define violent crime. Lastly, I will explain that rape on campuses is not a cultural component. Colleges should hold clubs such as fraternities and sports to the same level as others and be harshly punished for crimes they commit so they don't feel superior and think they can get away with rape. "Some have argued that fraternities are places where rape is likely to occur on college campuses and that the students most likely to accept rape mouths and be more sexually aggressive are more likely to live in fraternities and sororities, consume higher doses of alcohol and drugs, and place higher value on social life at college."
The following morning is a dreadful, long one that stays with you forever. The memories in your mind keep crawling up every night when you fall asleep. You keep asking yourself, “Why did it happen to me? What did I do wrong?” Yet no answer comes to mind, all that you can think of is being violated, being misled for a simple task-rape. Why does it happen to us? What do the men see when the door is opened and a gorgeous women stands in front of their eyes. The mind collapses trying to find a solution to the problem. It's like having an exam and the only way for you to score is to cheat. So all girls are just scores guys try to push themselves upon? The mind grows blank and the human body works with sexual instinct. Date rape is one of those things that one man can't find a proper answer for. There are so many possibilities that one might think of as the cause of the problem. Which one is the right one? Is there one specific answer that is physiologically correct? No. Everyone has his or her own opinion, whether it is from experience or from common knowledge. Date rape is mainly cased by the in-proper behavior of the rapist. A man who can rape a woman has obviously been brought up in an uncomfortable, improper raised environment.

Nicole Johnson*, a 22-year-old senior at an area university looks back at her college experience as graduation approaches, generally happy with how everything turned out, however, a dark cloud still looms over her freshman year when she was raped.
When it comes to sexual assault on college campuses there is also the question of what can colleges do to decrease the amount of sexual assaults. Bradford Richardson and Jon A Shields wondered the same thing, so they conducted an ...
This study attempts to measure the fear of crime on the campus of mainly the University of New Mexico and other campuses across the nation. I attempt to explore the fear of crime from a student’s perspective. This research will enhance the research that has been done on the issues and topics of fear and crime on college campuses. This study will measure the level of perceived risk by taking into consideration various variables such as demographics, routines, and prior experiences with victimization. With this research, I seek to answer the following questions: How afraid are students of being victimized while on campus, and what factors contribute to that fear of crime. The research will hopefully yield several contributions, such as knowing the level of fear that student’s experience, universities can determine the best approach to making their student population feel safer. Further research could be conducted to study whether students’ fear of crime is related to their awareness of crime, and whether that awareness of crime reduces the possibility of victimization. Another interesting aspect is that college campuses are communities with their own set of norms and regulations, and some have populations comparable to the size of small towns and cities. Studying fear of crime within those communities can provide more insight into fear of victimization in small units, such as neighborhoods, or larger units, such as cities.
A survey from the Association of American Universities of 150,000 students found that more than one in four women experience sexual assault during their four years in college. Over the four year college period, 27.2% of female students are victims of unwanted sexual contact that ranges from touching to rape (6). Sexual assault is far too common and it is an epidemic that faces many students in college. Many students suffer from the consequences of sexual assault, which is a result of many social and cultural deficiencies, but it can be fixed through a multifaceted approach. The problem of sexual assault can be fixed through the education of the community, a positive and helpful school environment, and classes focused on prevention.

Apart from marital rape, date rape is another serious offense towards female victims, which have low reporting rate (Munsch & Willer, 2012). Date rape situations involve an agreed upon social interaction and are often characterised by romantic interest and some level of prior sexual intimacy (Pumphrey-Gordon & Gross, 2007).
There are several stories all over the news about date rape. A crime like this causes so much trauma that scars a person forever. Rape is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse or other forms of sexual penetration carried out against a person without that person's consent. Just the thought of someone grabbing you in unwanted areas is extremely disturbing and revolting. Every 2 minutes someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted, most likely the victim is a women between the ages of 16-24. A significant amount of these victims do not report the crime, but sometimes when they do the perpetrator doesn’t receive the fair, necessary punishment. Date rape is rape of a woman by a man with who she is familiar with. The rapist is usually the woman's "date".
Acquaintance rape is not usually a topic that many people discuss. Besides the fact that it is a very heavy subject, many people don’t actually know what it is. Acquaintance rape is a form of rape that happens between two people who know each other from previous accounts. One of the many questions about acquaintance rape: is what makes a person do that to another person? Although no one knows the real causes of this act, study suggest that the new mindsets of men and women, the education about what acquaintance rape is, and also alcohol are all huge factors into acquaintance rape. Although ending acquaintance rape will take a while, a short term solution could be starting to educate girls and boys about acquaintance rape and teaching children how to prevent it.
