Reflection paper As a case manager, it is natural to expect a variety of clients. On March 13th, 2018, I had the opportunity of interviewing Dante. Dante was recently involved a motor vehicle accident which has been really detrimental to his health.The motor vehicle accident, Dante had become really depressed after his accident. The interview began with the aim of establishing a therapeutic rapport with a warm genuine greeting /friendly conversation .The greeting was followed by The confidentiality statement included clear on expectations and limits of confidentiality ( harm to self or others).The confidentiality statement was then followed by an Opening Question “Dante,what brings you here today?” this question was aimed to prompt “storytelling”. Use of Encouragers. Attending skills such as visual/eye Contact,vocal quality were used to make Dante feel comfortable and allowing openness. Additionally, Body Language: Posture, Facial Expressions, Gestures such as nodding,smiling and hand gestures was used to make Date feel heard. Another technique I try to use throughout my interview with Dante was using the strength model and empathy.I tried to point out dentist trends throughout the interview. What does approach I was hoping to get him towards hope and progress. I want to work effectively with Dante to help promote his growth .Most importantly I think empathy place a huge part in the interview because as Summers says in her book”most of the research into effectiveness of empathetic listening shows that amputee creates and save space in which clients can express genuine emotion and tacitly gives them permission to do
