Recommended: History of dance
I appreciate dance more now because of this class. I appreciate dance more because I learned about the beginnings of dance. Me being a break dancer, I knew about the modern dances but never knew about the old stuff. Learning about the foundations of dance made me respect dance and dancers more. All that hard work done by dancers back in the day made dance what it is today. And it is nice to learn about the significant people in dance that made dance a beautiful work of art. Ballet dance influenced me the most about dance. Not only did it enlighten me but also gave me a newfound respect for the dancers, choreographers and dance form as well. Ballet as first wasn't appealing to me but after learning about it I have gotten a little taste of ballet. …show more content…
Growing up I never had any hobbies besides playing video games if that count as one. Dance was the first real hobby I ever had. Dance impacted me by making me less shy in front of people. I made a lot of friends through dance. I would walk over to my friend's house every weekend and we would just session and teach each other about break dancing. Dancing had anyways been part of me through middle and high school. And what better way to enjoy dance than actually learn about it in a class. There are a lot of things that I taught myself how to do through the internet. I taught myself how to build computer, break dance and many other things. When I hang out with my old friends that I used to break dance with, we would about way think about the past and joke about it. There is this one phase we always say it's, "once a dancer, always a dancer." We all remember how to bboy and it is a part of us. If someone were to tell us to break dance we would still be able to. Me being a break dancer, I wanted to take this course. And I stayed because dance is a part of me and quitting is not an option. Break dancers don't stop when we fall and mess up on our routine, we just get up and continue dancing like nothing had happened. Looking back at all the class I had taken, I notice that I always put the minimum amount of effort in my work. It had always been a habit of mine for some reason. I never felt the
When I was about four or five years old, I was introduced to Ballet. I adored being a little ballerina and would read the same dance booklet everyday, practicing the five positions and gracefully positioning my tiny arms and fingers to match the little girl in the illustrations. Because I loved dance so much, my mother enrolled me in Donna Hammond-Phelps
As a student studying kinesiology, I believe that professionals should acquire knowledge of dance because dance is an activity that has to do with physical movements. In my opinion, to be a professional in Kinesiology we must have enough knowledge of the human movement and dance is indeed a topic that requires the knowledge of physical movements. The physical education professionals are not like psychiatrists or physicians that give the clients medicine and tell them what to stay away from. However, people in the other fields, i.g. physical education, have to let clients know that there is a different kind of approach to their issues by introducing them to dance. Dance is related to the history of kinesiology because it has been practiced since long ago and it is still present
According to the Children’s Development Institute, ballet can teach a child to be able to be in front of people and to be confident in themselves. On top of this it can help children learn to follow directions, work well with others, and have a sense of self-discipline.("The Benefits of Classical Ballet, 2015). This website does not support any medical facts. Childhood is where our minds are molded. Of course, there are always genetic mental illnesses, but who we are as a person often stems from how we were raised. Ballet can help our minds with so much. We learn and grow from its beauty and its discipline. I have only been dancing in a class since last fall and I already have learned so much. Ballet is not only the foundation for all dance forms, it is a foundation for confidence and self-awareness as
I have been dancing since the age of four. I started my intense training with Tanju and Patricia Tuzer, Debra Bale, and Linda Brown at Tuzer Ballet. I developed as a dancer, attending every summer intensive performing in every show, advancing from intermediate to apprentice to junior company and finally to senior company. The dance studio became my second home. I took classes in ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, tap, jazz, lyrical jazz, theatrical movement, hip-hop, zumba, and African-Ballet, pointe, contemporary, and lyrical jazz being my favorites. Even w...
Not only has ballet taught me how to move gracefully, it has taught me commitment and persistence. Every class, every performance, every combination is the opportunity to grow. Through this art I have developed a tough skin that helps me fight adversity; however, most importantly I have learned passion and
I have been a dancer since the age of 3. My earliest memory of dance was when I was too terrified to go on stage during a recital and I refused to go on no matter how much they tried to push me. Up until the age of about 12, dance had been just a hobby or an extracurricular activity. In fact, I didn’t even enjoy going to dance. I didn’t have friends there and I wasn’t that good of a dancer. It wasn’t until I participated in Dance Bermuda’s summer dance intensive in collaboration with the American Ballet Theatre in 2012, that I realized that I had a passion for dance. At the program, I was exposed to other dancers that were my age and older and most of them were much more advanced than I. So to avoid being the worst dancer in the program, I took to YouTube and watched hours and hours of dance videos. I researched all the ways to improve my ballet technique. I can remember trying to practice my pirouettes in the kitchen and falling onto the table and knocking a whole bunch of things over. I was determined to be as good as the other girls in the program. By the end of the two weeks I was fired up, motivated, and ready to get back to class after the summer.
Although I am not a great dancer by any means, I learned through my years of involvement in dance that if you want something you should not let any hardships stop you. This message is what helps push me toward success in my educational
Breakdancing The history of choreography is also very important: Any choreography that seems new, fresh and different is usually a variation of something that has been done before. As long as men and women have lived upon this earth, they have danced. The art of movement is among the oldest of the arts. So for eight months I’ve been learning the skills of hip hop and breakdancing by going to a hip hop club every week where I learned the basic skills of breaking like how to top-rock and six-step.
Performance is always way shorter than practice. Because dance is one of the most important things in my life, I am willing to make effort on it. Not only we practiced every night, but I spent a lot of time making my movements more precise during my spare time. As a result, I learned to make good time management in order to keep up with my grade. In four months, I was promoted to one of the 6 core dancers, responsible for choreography and attending 80% of all the performances.
...dance education is to continue growing throughout public schools and colleges in the United States, students, parents, and the rest of the community will need to stand behind their dance educators. Dance has always served a form of great exercise that allows people to express themselves through movement, and will continue to do so into the future. Dance education in the elementary level is a place that may need some help in child development, and the way to solve this problem is by getting classroom teachers who are skilled in dance and creative movement instruction. Dance education in the secondary level also needs to get highly skilled teachers who are also certified in dance themselves. It would also help attract more students if dance was presented in a different department other than physical education. Dance education in the college level is taught by certified dance instructors, therefore dancers in this level are able to explore movements, while being critiqued by someone who knows what is happening. Dance education has played a major role in the development of children of all ages, and will continue to do so, as long as dance educators and dancers have the proper support.
... emotionally or physically. Dance is a great way to express yourself when you are happy sad, excited, gloomy, or just to make yourself better. Dance did not start very clean or good, it had a mix of everything and it always will. So people who perform it make the best out of it and it becomes their passion. Always makes the best out of worst by dancing yourself in and out of it.
Presently, I go to dance class about seven hours a week, not including the times when there are dress rehearsals or recitals. Like quite a bit of subjects in life, once you learn something, you must practice to keep it. I’m required to actually attend classes, if I don’t want to miss learning choreography, and lose my technique.
Like any first experience we remember all the details of the event. I remember my first dance class at J in Jazz Dance Studio. I was under the instruction of Julie Pederson who was one of the young faces in my little town of Sierra Vista. I was thirteen and thought that the class was awesome. Now if you are under the impression that I was great the first time around you are wrong. I was the one goofy awkward kid who was there having fun. Julie thought that I would be gone by the end of three months because I couldn’t hack it. She was just glad that I was there having fun and being a good student. According to some experts, since I started after the age of ten I was not supposed to be any good. Just six months after starting, something somewhere happened to both me and my dance ability. I was put on the competition/performance team, and then I just kept excelling from there. Every year or two, I was put on a higher more difficult team.
Ballet is one of the most popular types of dance. It is known for its grace and elegance. Ballet is a very disciplined style of dance and may take many years to develop the proper technique. Ballet is the foundation for many other types of dance.
Dancing has been a passion with me for a long time. My mother tells me how any melody had me dancing when I was a toddler. On growing up I tried learning some serious dancing and after trying both Bharat Natyam and Kathak, I decided to pursue Kathak seriously.
