Before that experience, I had always made an effort to become strong enough because I was determined to receive my first pair. Practice makes perfect, so I repeated the crushing relevés, popping my ankles by pushing them constantly until they felt shaky. I had invested blood, sweat and tears into these pointe shoes. There was nowhere to go. My feet try to dodge the cracks and holes on what's left of the floor. I suddenly felt my foot get caught by something, sending my whole body straight down. I ignored the pain and look to see a firm hand gripping my ankle.
Knowing my body, I felt envious of the fact that there were dancers doing handless cartwheels while I can’t do a regular cartwheel. After I remembered that they worked hard to get such athleticism I couldn’t be mad anymore. So I started to become energetic watching them dance. I wanted to get out of my seat and start doing my signature shoulder shrug move but I didn’t want to disturb anyone.
