Many people or characters undertake missions. Three examples are the missions of Buck, Damian Lillard, and Giannis Antetokounmpo . However, all three were hardworking and never gave up and then they succeed greatly.
Out of all three missions Damian Lillard has had the hardest journey. He went from almost killed to an NBA all-star. Here is the story of Damian Lillard, from day one he was doubted, he was doubted by his mini mites football teams, to aau basketball, to high school, to college, and even to this day he has been doubled. But through all that, one thing stands out, hard work, the text states, “His instinct to never gave up translated to basketball”(Korzemba 2:46). His main goal was to put his family out of poverty. The text states, “he wanted everything for his family...this provoked him to do basketball” (Handles Up 1:38). When he finally played basketball, he was good at it, in fact he was very good. Him and his brother saw their raw talent and started to train, the text explains this by saying, “he used this as motivation, he wanted better for his family” (Handles Up 2:17). He worked very hard, so hard scouts would come out and see him train and even offer a contract to a local Greek League team! He took this offer happily and started to play on a 16u summer league professional team. He loved this, but he just wanted more, his family was still in poverty and he felt like this just wasn’t good enough. So, he took the next step. He had always been skinny, and that was the main reason he couldn’t get on a premier Greek League team, so he went into training. He trained and trained, the speaker states. “Now his family had a chance to go to the USA and at that moment he knew he had succeeded”(Handles Up 5:55). Yes, he gained enough weight that he was entered into the NBA, but Giannis wasn’t done yet. He became a major impact on the Milwaukee Bucks, right when he stepped on the floor. His journey starts off in the Santa Clara Valley, where he gets dog-napped by his owner house worker who sells him to go to Seattle. He then meets his first challenge the “man in the red sweater”, who beats him with a club and then Buck learns the “Law of Club and Fang”. Then he moves more north into Alaska, and then to the Yukon, Canada. This part was the hardest because, “he could have died for a moral consideration” (London 21). He went into camp and saw the horror of the wild beasts, the text states that, “they were savages, all of them... and his first lesson taught him an unforgettable lesson” (London 15). His journey continues on the trail, they move in the sled pulled of the very mighty dogs. One day he felt something inside of him, a feeling of savageness, the text explains, :it was a wolf manner of fighting. To strike and leap away;but there was more to it than this” (London 15). Buck felt it and he needed to be the lead dog, so he fought Spitz and won and very hard fought, bloody battle of the ages. He had to win, the text states, “he had earned it and he would have not been content with less” (London 38). After this he switches owners a bit, and then John Thornton steps up when Buck was getting beaten, he takes Buck in and loves him so.
