Cyberbullying Needs to Stop Now

Cyberbullying is an important issue and is underestimated it needs to be brought to light just how severe of an effect it has on teens. Not many realize what it does. Bullying that takes place in schools is much different than cyberbullying. Most of the time it is girls while boys tend to bully at school girls tend to cyber bully. Most students say it is easier to cyberbully than bully at school. “Somedays I am afraid to open my laptop or check my phone.” That was said by a teenage cyber bullying victim. Some people do not see the effect of this at all they do not understand. It was just a joke, it is not a big deal, and they just took it too hard. Are excuses to dismiss cyberbullying and some of these are accepted and everything is fine. But what people are not figuring out this is not alright this is not fine. Almost 80% of teens use a cell phone on a regular basis. This is part of the reason that the cell phone is the most common place for cyber bullying to take place. It can affect every part of a person’s life. As teens can you even imagine being so scared to look at your phone that you are willing to go days without touching it. The cellphone is a big part of the day to day life, it is also part of day to day destruction. You can change your number is and block other numbers, but that is not stopping the problem this wonderful world has social media, which is also part of life now almost everyone is on social media. When it leaves phone and moves to the internet and social media then things are complicated. Once something is on the internet it can never be deleted. Things online spread FAST!! Sometimes it is near impossible to even trace the source of the bullying, let alone delete or stop it. In the end how is it fair to bully someone just for your entertainment even to teach someone a lesson there is other ways to deal with the situation. Cyberbullying is a way to hide behind a screen. It is a way to cause someone pain without an actual confrontation and teachers can’t do anything about it. Now a teen can go through this everyday or do it everyday. Somethings can never be erased and are online forever to embrass someone.
