Effects of cyberbullying cannot be underestimated. Long-term effects showed that those who are bullied also became bullies in the future. Similar to bullying in person, immediate effects of cyberbullying are that the youths who are subjected to cyberbullying tend to separate themselves from the society and live alone. As argued before, YouTube being a top entertainment site needs to implement stricter rules about censorship. YouTube should censor videos being uploaded in their site to obstruct cyberbullying, to diminish portrayal of harmful or dangerous activities and to abolish promotion of nudity and sexually suggestive
Roxanne challenges the importance of trigger warning, and argues they are ineffective and impractical to create safe online spaces. She refers to Joanne Cantor’s research that found parental discretion warnings and the more restrictive MPAA ratings stimulate some children’s interest in viewing programs,” and “the increased interest in restricted programs is more strongly linked to children’s desire to reject control over their viewing than to their seeking out violent content.” This brings down to the dilemma of the forbidden fruit, triggering curiosity towards things that they are forbidden to do.

One may automatically think about that funny cat video they saw once or that kid falling into the pool after his brother pushed him when YouTube comes to mind. People each day are able to click “Upload” on a video they have spent hours shooting and editing and can eventually make a profit from it once they have gained a following. Along with becoming profitable from this Web site, there is also controversy to follow. Americans tend to believe that it is some silly Web site where you can watch those childish videos.
Bullying refers to the repeated occurrences of terrorizing and frightening victims through physical or psychological harm. There are two types of bullying; physical and cyber. Physical bullying includes physically injuring or verbally putting down the victims to forcefully carry out tasks for the bully such as doing their school work. In physical bullying there is a lack of power, the bullies are bigger and stronger compared to the defenseless victims. In contrast, cyberbullying takes place in a digital environment and does not include face to face confrontations. The bully harasses the victim through the internet and social media websites.
One of the most pressing reasons for censoring certain videos and information is to protect the developing minds of children and minors. Children tend to believe what they see or hear of media and this can cause significant impact on they their thinking develops. They lack the maturity to see the difference between good or bad, real and reel and showing such footage it could alter and manipulate the way they think. One of the most prominent examples of this would be Miley Cyrus’s performance at the 2013 VMA’s (Rosen, "Miley Cyrus Censored By MTV After On-Stage Smoking"). At this music awards event Miley Cyrus’s performance was shocking and her sexual performa...
Tanner mciver Cyberbullying is the one of the fastest growing trends among teens and young adults. In fact, 68% of teens agree that this is a serious problem. Victims have actually committed suicide because of being bullied constantly. Typically it is not just one person bullying, still several people or a clique, that gang up on a single target. The effects of online bullying on the victim are numerous and include feeling depressed and they may alienate themselves from their friends. The victim is not the only one who struggles with the consequences, therefore does the bully.
The movies they watch, the music they listen to, and the games they play have all first been screened through different rating systems to find anything in them that can be interpreted as “obscene”. Once someone finds something, the creator of the work has no choice but to delete, edit, and basically censor the offending portion, otherwise it never gets to see the light of public consumption. Censorship has been used for all different kinds of work, for all different kinds of reasons. The many examples of album covers provided at TabooTunes show different types of covers deemed “inappropriate”, and how drastically the artists had to alter the image in order to make it “friendlier” and “more appropriate” (“Taboo Tunes Gallery - Music Censorship").... ...
Being an eye-catching medium of communications, YouTube has made a major contribution to education worldwide (Bonk, 2009). It has become one of the most favorite English teaching tools of educators (Duffy, 2008). According to Terantino (2011), this website offers users “fast and fun access to language and culture-based videos and instruction from all over the globe”. As a matter of fact, it urges us to change our learning ecology (Kwan et al., 2008). The website states on its press link “http://www.youtube.com/yt/press/statistics.html” that it “is localized in 61 countries and across 61 languages”. Among these languages is Vietnamese, for which YouTube doesn’t launch any local version. According to TechinAsia (2013), there are approximately 15 million Vietnamese who view videos online, and their most favorite site is YouTube. While the controversies over copyright infringement and explicit depictions of sexual activity and nudity of the site still exist, its enormous quantity of videos and tremendous variety of content enable YouTube to become a valuable resource for mentors to exploit.

We often come across news showcasing the effects of cyberbullying in high schools and the depression it causes in their student body. Cyberbullying is one of the leading causes of deaths since technology has increasingly gotten better every day. Chris Colfer said it best when he stated, “When people hurt you over and over, think of them like sand paper; they may scratch and hurt you a bit, but in the end, you end up polished and they end up useless.” People should not be afraid to stand up for themselves and not let anybody tell them they are not themselves or capable of doing something with their lives.
It has been known that cyberbullying has a negative effect on children and teens. It’s not the same as traditional bullying; cyberbullying has a continuing effect through the use of electronics, cellphones, emails, and other social media sites. While traditional bullying was from mouth to mouth, spread of rumors or hearsay. It can cause depression, psychological effects, withdrawal from school, suicide and other things that are negative to a teen’s health. “The Center for Disease Control and Prevention had done a report and found that suicide was the third leading cause of death among adolescents in 2004” (Klomek 283).
In our modern society, in almost every form of advertisement we use provocative sexual imagery to get the audiences attention. This idea often carries over to music videos in hopes that the sexual themes will get the viewers attention, which will attract them to the artist and their music. According to Dreamworlds II, men today direct ninety percent of the music videos. This results in videos with sexual dreamlands where men can make women do or be however they please. When this happens, it can be very dangerous for women and girls. They are no longer being seen as an actual person with subjectivity but instead they are shown as just body parts waiting for men to use or watch them. In these videos, the women's stories are no longer being told because they are only seen in certain roles such as exotic dancers, teachers, nurses, housewives, or prostitutes.
Michael J. Fox once said, “One’s dignity may be assaulted, vandalized and cruelly mocked, but it can never be taken away unless it is surrendered”(1). People will disrespect another person if he or she lets them tyrannize them. However, the bullied victim has the power to stop the harassment. The victim will have low self-esteem and would feel bad about themselves from the amount of harsh comments he or she receives online. When it comes to cyberbullying, the victim would get harassed online from a classmate at school or elsewhere on social media. For instance, a person can get bullied on Facebook by a user saying cruel and disrespectful comments on their posts. As a result, the person will become depressed and insecure. On social media, people bully others which could affect the victims emotionally and mentally because they believe the false statements.
