Cyber Bullying

Many students, in the United States, believe that cyber bullying is a lesser problem than bullying at school, but more than half of teens have been the victims of cyber bullying. Many cyber bullying incidents cause expulsion, and in some cases causing the victim to commit suicide. Also, 80 percent of teens use or own a cell phone, making cyber bullying very common. Cyber bullying is a problem that may be small to the world now, but it is more than capable to become something greater (Cyber Bullying Statistics).
More people cyberbully than bully at school because it is very easy to do so when it can be anonymous, someone you don’t know, or even behind a computer screen. Also, it can happen whenever and at any time. Where at school there are teachers, other students, and sometimes cameras to prevent bullying. Also, an unknown fact about cyber bullying, making it greatly more common than bullying in school, is that if something is posted online it can’t be removed. Even if a photo or a post is deleted, it remains on the sites data. Whereas if it was at school, people who saw the bullying are most likely to forget it later. As it seems, bullying at school is typically a male making fun of or attacking another male, while on the internet, cyber bullying can be between girls and guys; young or old. This makes cyber bullying even more of a threat to today’s youth society.
As it may seem harmless to someone who doesn’t get cyber bullied, or cyber bullies themselves, what are the effects of cyber bullying? It has been proven that kids who are cyber bullied are more likely to get bad grades, do drugs, skip school the next day, and have lower self esteem. What makes cyber bullying worse is that people tend to think less about the victim ...

...unishment. Also, there are many other scary rules to prevent kids from cyberbullying. In some very severe cases, if the victim were to commit suicide, the bullies will most likely go to jail or worse.
Although, many will continue to believe cyber bullying truly isn’t that much of an issue to be resolved among all the others, but it is definitely not something to be joked around with either. Whether it is cyber bullying or bullying in school, students need to remember to think before they act and remember the consequences for saying something rude or mean on the internet.
