Current Campaign promoting cervical screening awareness The Smear Campaign launched on 10/03/2014 by NHS Greater Glasgow is aimed at women aged 20 – 35 in this region. The campaign aims to diminish the barriers which are stopping women from attending their routine cervical screenings. It is backed by 2 famous Scottish radio DJ’s, Radio Clyde’s Knoxy and Suzie McGuire, and they are trying to promote the benefits of attending these screenings to banish the myths that they are painful and embarrassing. According to Emilia Crighton, Consultant in Public Health Medicine, “New research shows that the main barriers stopping women from attending cervical screening (smear test) are fear, embarrassment and pain.” (http://www.nhsggc.org.uk/content/default.asp?page=s1192_3&newsid=17764&back=home). They encourage women to watch their online video which shares the story of a woman who attended her routine cervical screening and was found to have early cancerous cells on her cervix. This smear test helped detect these cells and the 3 videos can be seen online via Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6QEdma5SDw, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Pe-Njiiv38&list=PLmuRxztsS0Nxxx-2_til-mHfG20topFyt, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfO9bWNJHFA&list=PLmuRxztsS0Nxxx-2_til-mHfG20topFyt. These videos use humour as well as factual information to promote the benefits of attending regular smear tests, which is available for anyone to watch who has an internet connection. This campaign is widely promoted through the use of social media, these videos are displayed on YouTube and this campaign has been advertised on the internet and in various news articles. Speaking to these women on a one to one and group basis would hopefully contribute to changing the views of society. The more knowledge and information people have regarding a particular subject the more it can be shared amongst regular women in society. Holding these presentations would hopefully banish the myths that smear tests are uncomfortable, painful and embarrassing, it allows women who may not be so confident in coming forward to seek advice and hopefully leave with a different outlook. Rationale for the activity in the context of Health Promotion issue Evaluating activity I plan to get feedback on how successful the women attending these presentations felt the campaign was. I would do this by asking the women to provide their email addresses on arrival to allow us to conduct a feedback questionnaire on how helpful they felt it was. It would

At that point, more than 15,000 women were dying each year from cervical cancer. The Pap smear had the potential to decrease that death rate by 70 percent or more, but there were two things standing in its way: first, many women- like Henrietta-simply didn’t get the test; and, second, even when they did, few doctors knew how to interpret the results accurately, because they didn’t know what the various stages of cervical cancer looked like under a microscope. The genital examination can be uncomfortable for both the patient as well as for the healthcare professional. Therefore, for us as clinicians, it is crucial first to examine our personal biases as well as personal beliefs that make us feel unease before performing a genital exam. Being aware of our body language, is essential, as the patient could feel or sense of being judge, especially special populations such as those affected by obesity, mental, physical disability. Furthermore, it is crucial that as advanced clinicians understand that for most patients this experience may be a significant source of discomfort and anxiety. Consequently, as healthcare providers, it is important to make the patients feel as comfortable as possible to reduce their stress, while at the same time take this opportunity to educate them on sexual preventive measures and conditions that may affect them in the present and future.

The health belief model (HBM) is a psychosocial model that was developed during the 1950’s by social psychologists of the U.S public health services, and this model was used to explain why people failed to participate in disease prevention and detection programs. The theory is one of the most health behavior theories, which is used to explain behavior change and maintenances, but often times used to predict behavior outcome (Glanze, Rimer, & Lewis, 2002).
In May 2006 the silence cries of Kaylib Neal began to fill the delivery room as young Kizzy Neal slightly tilts her head with the energy she has left to take a glace at her new son. Although this moment is one of the happiest times of Kizzys life, she still wishes she could have waited to experience this moment at a later time in her life. At the age of only thirteen, Kizzy is one among the thousands of teenage girls who become pregnant each year in the United States. According to The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, 34% percent of young women become pregnant at least once before they reach the age of 20. Eight in ten of these teen pregnancies are unintended and 79% are to unmarried teens. There are many preliminary causes for such a high In Kizzy’s case, the blame is put on the lack of sexual education within her school. She claims that because she did not received adequate information on this subject, she was unaware of what she was getting herself into. The question is: will the opportunity to experience sex education classes make a difference in preventing teen pregnancy? Sexual education, in a broad sense, is a series of courses taken by adolescents throughout their school years in order gain a better understanding of aspects that pertain to sexual activity. Beginning as early as third grade, the students learn what sex is, what its consequences are and how to prevent those consequences. Overall I’ve learned that everything is life has pros and cons, and although some may look at emergency contraception as nothing but negative, there is some individuals out there that see it as completely positive. I am not particularly interested in reading about emergency contraception since I am a male, and don’t take any kind of control. However I did find this information very important to me being that I have daughters, who will grow into young ladies. If I am informed on these specific topics, then I can make sure that they are aware when it comes to these specific circumstances. I’m sure I will continue better educate myself on contraception as whole, so that I can educate my children when its time.
When it comes health care, feminine care is often overlooked because it is not usually life threatening with some radical exceptions. However, every woman can potentially be targeted by any one of the diseases or infections that have been proven to be prevented by using contraceptive methods that make changes in hormone secretion. Not only does oral contraception have significant medical relevance, but so do intrauterine devices. IUD 's have been proven to treat and prevent many of the same diseases as oral contraception. Even if the prevention of numerous types of cancers, tumors, and other life threatening medical conditions was not a good enough reason for insurances to provide coverage for the cost of birth control methods, we can also take a look at what types of medications are in fact covered by many private health insurance

Widespread Ignorance About Safe Sex Yet among India's 300 million young people ages 10 to 24, recent studies show that premarital sex is increasingly common. A 2001 study conducted in Delhi and the Lucknow (capital of India's most populous state, Uttar Pradesh) by the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare shows that some 15 percent of young people engage in premarital sex, even though Indian society regards sex before marriage as deviant behavior. The study, which included grade school and college students, also revealed that despite a growing HIV/AIDS epidemic, many young people have unprotected sex. Two common reasons given by youth for not using condoms are that they are hesitant to obtain them (39.3 percent) and fear side effects (34.3 percent), according to the study "Premarital Sexuality and Unmet Need of Contraception.
Is it ethical to market condoms to teenagers? Advertising catches the attention of everyone – both young and old – but seeking to “feast” on the most vulnerable – the young. With the young seeking adventure and wanting to learn and become experienced, they are captured by everything they see and hear, whether the information is ethical or unethical. Over the years, sex has become an important part of the media through advertising and sales in a world where sex is important. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American children will view an estimated 360,000 advertisements that have sexual innuendos on television before graduating from high school.
