In the novel “Of Mice And Men” by Steinbeck, I will be writing about loneliness. The reason I chose this as my topic is to show everything that Curley's wife went through. In the novel she tells and shows signs of abuse, loneliness, and wanting a way out. In the 1930 s women didn't have voices the way we do now. Being abused, used, and manipulated everybody kept it a secret during this time period, doing to it being looked over if spoken about. Do you ever think to yourself what you would do for love? In the case of Curley's wife, she did everything she could to feel wanted. She wanted to feel loved, cared for, and to be given the world. She wanted the respect a man had in this male - owned world. They did not get married based on true love because in the novel Curley's wife says I don't like Curley, He ain't a nice man. This shows he could have hit her before. Curley would also keep his hand in a glove with vaseline to keep it soft for his wife when he wanted to touch her. This just shows how he just wanted her for one thing. Feeling alone in a relationship can be hard, expectably, in the novel where Curley's wife says, “You can talk to people, but I can’t talk to anybody but Curley. Else, he gets mad. . This shows that she was not allowed to talk or to have friends of any kind. Curley wanted all the power over his wife due to her just being a woman, to curley his wife was no more than just his pleasure doll. Curley's wife wanted a way out without saying anything.
