This letter confirms my enthusiasm to obtain an intern position with the Curaçao Sea Aquarium team. Upon reviewing your mission, I believe that my qualities closely match the needs for this position. I take pride in and value my work. I am very open to learning and developing new skills to help me excel in this position as well as in my future career path. My passion resides in the ocean and marine life in which I would love to share with and educate others.
As a volunteer in the Marine Mammal Department at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium I now have experience from my duties in the following areas: diet preparation, maintaining exhibits, providing enrichment and mental stimulation to the resident animals, keeping behavioral records, and educating
visitors about the animals and environmental conservation. I also had the privilege to shadow the trainers and learn principles such as positive reinforcement, classical conditioning and shaping techniques used to train the animals. Further qualifications I offer include the following: • Communication skills • Leadership/teamwork skills • Organizational skills • A positive, enthusiastic work attitude I am certified as a PADI Open Water Diver since June 8, 2014. (Diver No. 14060M1852) I am aware that you are interested in interns for duration of 5-6 months, but if selected as a potential candidate for a position, I will be able to commit to a three-month internship. I can assure you that I will make the best use of my time at your facility. I am available from late May to late August. (After May 20,2016 – Before August 18, 2016). The writer has presented various views to support his claim. Many experts are of the opinion that marine parks are the only organizations that provide an opportunity to see various kinds of marine animals, especially the mammals (Smith,
I am writing to ask you to consider me for the Digital Collections & Metadata Assistant position this summer. It is a combination of many things that i’m interested in-- libraries, spreadsheets, and technology-- and for that reason know I would be very well suited to the position.
Throughout every human’s life in the United States, there will portably come a time when they take a trip to an aquarium or zoo. Do not get me wrong; it is incredible to see all those beautiful creatures up close and personal, but most people do not realize what actually is going on. Typically, when the day is spent at the zoo or aquarium, the day usually follows a schedule like this: You spend the day roaming the grounds, moving from habitat to habitat, break for lunch, and then once you’ve seen everything you want to see you return home and are free to do whatever you want to do. The harsh reality of these places is that while it is cool to spend the day there, you would never want to spend your entire life there. The animals are taken from
At Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo, CA a new exhibit was opened to provide an interactive experience with the parks residents. These “Ocean Discovery” exhibits now include a 200,000 gallon tank containing three to five of the parks 14 Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins. The dolphins have been removed from their natural habitats deprived from an annexed refuge and placed in petting pools poorly located and smaller than that of an average living room.
I am fully aware that yours curriculum requires that I summon all my resources and I aver that I have the necessary commitment, intelligence and stamina to look forward to do it all. I believe that my experience of working on various projects coupled with my professional working ethics will not let your expectations down. I am convinced that my study at your department would be meaningful and rewarding experience to achieve my objective of life. I look forward to have a long and profitable association with your esteemed college. I especially thank you for giving me the opportunity to express about myself.
Entering as a freshman, I had never worked with animals in my life, but immediately fell in love with marine biology. The science
I think still getting the zoo experience, would be great, to say that I have done that, but I think right now my main focus is going to be rehabilitation. I also have been considering looking into a vet tech job, to get more of the medical side of rehabilitation, and to get me more experience administering medications, and handing injured animals, right now I think a canine and feline veterinarian office would be good, with eventually moving forward to exotics, and bigger mammals like cattle etc. I feel I am most helpful, and most rewarding where I can help rehabilitation injured wildlife to return them back to their natural habitat, along with education the community about ways they can help in their own backyard, I think that is also a major part to rehabilitation Is making the community aware of what can be done to avoid injuries to wildlife.
The place I decided to do my paper on is located in the living room of
I would describe my work at the Aquarium as both hard and educational work. I would say hard work for a very simple reason, it is hard work. Not everybody is willing to wake up close to 5 am to go and do manual labor on a hot, sunny, summer day. I would also say it is educational because I have learned a lot this summer through my work. I have learned about invasive species in general as well as local invasive species. I have also learned about the wide array of professions, involving invasive species and other nature related jobs, that people have. These are just two of the many things I have learned.
I believe that I am suitable and competent to be successful in your Master of Public Administration program. I am well aware of the extensive requirements of the program but willing to face the challenge to excel in my field. I thank you, in advance, for your valuable time and consideration for your program.
Thousands of homeless animals are looking for forever homes in America. Volunteering is a great way to give to your community and socialize the animals at the shelters. Working with dogs and cats that have not had good starts in their lives helps them trust again. It helps animals get over the trauma they have had before they went to the shelter. Socializing makes the animal more adoptable and they are given a chance to get forever homes. Volunteer at your local humane society 's and help out the animals like I have worked with in shelters.
Instead of learning about volunteering from an indoor setting, I was able to first-hand experience volunteerism. I truly enjoyed being able to help my community while also earning credits by doing so. It was a win-win! If I had the opportunity, I would definitely take a class similar to this one. I will be transferring to the University of Kentucky and I am hoping that they will have some clubs/organizations that specialize in volunteering so that I can continue to help with the community. You will encounter some rough patches while volunteering, but that should never discourage you from continuing on. I know that at first while volunteering at MCHS, it was pretty strenuous. I hadn’t worked with any other animals other than my own and I had never volunteered at an animal shelter before, but everything ended up working out. I learned so much more about working with animals, gained people skills while working with other volunteers/adopters, and became more aware of my community’s needs. I will continue to volunteer and encourage others to do the
Half of my excursion will end here with my third day. With another new day I will go to Shedd Aquarium which is an indoor open aquarium in Chicago. Aggregate number of creatures in aquarium are 32000 and I am exceptionally inquisitive to see them. It was the first aquarium with a perpetual saltwater fish gathering. Yearly guests in the aquarium were around 2 million and was the most seen aquarium in the US in 2005 and 2007. The best thing about this is it contains 1500 species including fish, marine creatures, birds, snakes, creatures of land and water and insects.it has likewise been awarded the best show from the affiliation zoos and aquarium in 1999 and wild reef in 2004.
The main duties that I participated in included cleaning and sanitation of the kennels, client waiting rooms, and all the treatment rooms. Another duty that I was responsible for was helping the kennel technicans with each patient's nutrition and with their exercise requirements, which I honestly I enjoy this duty requires me to analyze each patients information and cater to each of their needs, this allows me to know each patient on a more personal level. I also help the vet technicians and veterinarians in regards to help prep the surgery room, retrieve and draw up vaccines for patients, help restrain patients for shots, and help restrain for body exams. One factor that I abosuletly admire about my internship experience with Cy-Fair Animal
It is often debated on whether or not marine mammals should be in held in captivity. Some say the captivity of these animals is great for educating the public while others say it is destroying the physical and mental health of these creatures. Kelly A. Waples and Nicholas J. Gales have put together an academic journal discussing the health effects captivity has on dolphins. Waples is a member of the Marine Mammal Research Group and attended the Graduate School of the Environment Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Gales is the Chief Scientist for the Australian Antarctic Division. Together they give a large amount of information on the studies done on the negative effects captivity has on dolphins in their journal called Evaluating and Minimising Social Stress in the Care of Captive Bottlenose Dolphins. J. E. Heyning and C. A. Heyning have been studying the anatomy of whales and porpoises for many years now. They currently work at the Natural Museum of Los Angeles and in 1997 they came across a stranded gray calf whale of the coast of California. In Rescue of an Orphaned Gray Whale Calf they explain how they teamed up with the L.A. lifeguards, the police, and SeaWorld to help rescue the calf. It shows how SeaWorld can help marine mammals when they are in distress and need care. The Oceanic Preservation Society (OPS) is an organization founded in 2005 that is dedicated to inspire people to save the ocean. OPS is most famous for the film, The Cove, which won dozens of awards around the world including an Oscar for Best Documentary in 2009. OPS has put together an article about Sea World and the animals held in captivity called Marine Mammal Captivity: The Truth...
