We made an advertisement for vegan, gluten free cupcakes. Most cupcakes are made with milk and wheat flour and many people are not able to eat them. We had two girls; one allergic to milk and the other to gluten. People with the same problems can see that there is still a way for them to get the satisfaction from cupcakes. This makes one feel hopeful and eager to buy the cupcakes. That is the way we used pathos as encouragement. The way we used logos was when we showed the survey which tells people that most of the tasters admired the vegan, gluten free cupcakes; that encourages them to try the cupcakes. This analysis paper will analyze one advertisement picture that was produced by the mega food chain known as McDonalds. The ad is exuberantly promoting three cheeseburgers that the fast food chain is attempting to sell. The three cheeseburgers on the advertisement are the more popular attractions of the fast food chain including the “Angus Deluxe Third pounder”, the “Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese”, and the most famous one of all, “The Big Mac”. These three cheeseburgers have been the baseline for the McDonalds fast food chain ever since the restaurant opened. The burgers are also known world wide, making this advertisement is just a way to get the public to come and buy there food.
In my proposal to end the opioid crisis I used ethos, logos, and pathos. In the first paragraph, I used pathos by getting the reader to think back on any loved one that they had seen effect by opioids and describing those effected by opioids with words like lonely, beggars, shells. In the book Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer wrote about Christopher McCandless, a nature lover in search for independence, in a mysterious and hopeful experience. Even though Krakauer tells us McCandless was going to die from the beginning, he still gave him a chance for survival. As a reader I wanted McCandless to survive. In Into the Wild, Krakauer gave McCandless a unique perspective. He was a smart and unique person that wanted to be completely free from society. Krakauer included comments from people that said McCandless was crazy, and his death was his own mistake. However, Krakauer is able to make him seem like a brave person. The connections between other hikers and himself helped in the explanation of McCandless’s rational actions. Krakauer is able to make McCandless look like a normal person, but unique from this generation. In order for Krakauer to make Christopher McCandless not look like a crazy person, but a special person, I will analyze the persuading style that Krakauer used in Into the Wild that made us believe McCandless was a regular young adult.
Hosseini’s purpose of writing the Kite Runner was to teach the readers the different ethnic groups in Afghanistan. The main character, Amir, is a Pashtun and Pashtuns are Sunni Muslims, then there are Hazara’s that the Pashtuns do not get along with. Hazara’s are not welcomed by the Pashtuns because they are different social classes.
The Letter from Birmingham Jail was written by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in April of 1963. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of several civil rights activists who were arrested in Birmingham Alabama, after protesting against racial injustices in Alabama. Dr. King wrote this letter in response to a statement titled A Call for Unity, which was published on Good Friday by eight of his fellow clergymen from Alabama. Dr. King uses his letter to eloquently refute the article. In the letter dr. king uses many vivid logos, ethos, and pathos to get his point across. Dr. King writes things in his letter that if any other person even dared to write the people would consider them crazy.
In everyday life we are bombarded with advertisements, projects, and commercials from companies trying to sell their products. Many of these ads use rhetorical devices to “convey meaning [,] or persuade” their audiences (Purdue OWL) . Projects, such as the Dove Self-Esteem Project uses native advertising in their commercials, which refers to a brand or product being simultaneously and indirectly promoted. In this essay, I will analyze the rhetorical devices, such as ethos, pathos, logos, and kairos, as well as the fallacies corresponding to each device, that the Dove Company uses in their self-esteem project .
Pathos, is used in commercials to create a convincing argument about this product by showing emotion and has connecting with other. As you can see, a man does not feel lonely, the relationships between the father, son and friends have good time.
Pollan’s article provides a solid base to the conversation, defining what to do in order to eat healthy. Holding this concept of eating healthy, Joe Pinsker in “Why So Many Rich Kids Come to Enjoy the Taste of Healthier Foods” enters into the conversation and questions the connection of difference in families’ income and how healthy children eat (129-132). He argues that how much families earn largely affect how healthy children eat — income is one of the most important factors preventing people from eating healthy (129-132). In his article, Pinsker utilizes a study done by Caitlin Daniel to illustrate that level of income does affect children’s diet (130). The movie trailer “Rio 2”, shows a great deal of pathos, ethos, and logos. These rhetorical appeals are hidden throughout the movie trailer; however, they can be recognized if paying attention to the details and montage of the video. I am attracted to this type of movies due to the positive life messages and the innocent, but funny personifications from the characters; therefore, the following rhetorical analysis will give a brief explanation of the scenes, point out the characteristics of persuasive appeals and how people can be easily persuaded by using this technique, and my own interpretation of the message presented in the trailer.
The piece that I will be analyzing is called How It Feels to Be Colored Me. This piece appealed to me because she described her point of view through the use of anecdote. Her perspective of being different caught my attention because most articles about being colored are so clique. This one is out of the ordinary because she thinks of being colored as a good thing. The only thing that could be difficult to analyze about this piece would understand how she feels because back then, black people were treated horribly.
In A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift he uses political satire and irony to portray his true message to the people of Ireland. He talks about how poor children are a burden on their parents, and how the parents are a burden on the country. He talks about how the mother and children are begging on the streets, and when the kids become a bit older the begin to steal. Even with the children stealing they are not good enough at it to support their families. Jonathan Swift proposes that they start to eat the babies at a year old. When his real message is that the landlords need to care about the people they are taking so much away from and they need to start investing in their own country instead of importing so many goods.

The destitute individuals of Ireland couldn't bolster their families, which made them go to amazing measures. Jonathan Kozol revealed the early period’s situation of education in American schools in his article Savage Inequalities. It seems like during that period, the inequality existed everywhere and no one had the ability to change it; however, Kozol tried his best to turn around this situation and keep track of all he saw. In the article, he used rhetorical strategies effectively to describe what he saw in that situation, such as pathos, logos and ethos.
