My progression as a promotional intern at Cumulus Broadcasting has been vast. Even, within the short duration of the summer semester I have obtain a great deal of knowledge in my field. As a Radio, TV, and Film major I had the perceived notion that the radio entertainment industry was glamourous. Although it wasn’t what I imagined, it fascinated me that the radio industry thrived due to thorough communication, planning, execution, professionalism, and leadership. From the beginning of Week 1 to the end of Week 12, I have increased my repertoire by participating in events around the community, creating content for Cumulus social media pages, and conveying confidence on-air. This internship has impacted my growth as a student by showing me what …show more content…
The other interns and I assisted with a very busy summer for Cumulus Broadcasting. The summer consisted of Country USA, Rock USA, EAA, and many more remotes. At these events, I was responsible for interacting with potential clients and listener. By adding manpower and compartmentalizing the interns, it allowed these promotional events to run efficiently. The classes that Impacted my success in this internship were Professional Skills, Communication, and Introduction to Radio History. These particular courses gave me the foundation to communicate effectively with professional as well as background knowledge in my respective internship. Furthermore, the project that impacted me was my Marketing Proposal because it made me work efficiently with others to reach a common goal. This internship has definitely influenced my future career goals. It affected my goals by increasing my professional network exponentially. These relationships could very well dictate my career path. So even after the summer ends, I will still continue to communicate with Cumulus Radio. Also, by evaluating my skillset; it allowed me to identify my strengths and weaknesses. Which in the long run will assist me in becoming a well-rounded employee. In addition, by experiencing the multiple departments of a radio station, it helped me pinpoint what career I would like to
The Entertainment Industry is an expanding industry with numerous career opportunities especially for the quick learning students in today’s world. I chose to study the entertainment industry because I have always had a passion for it. I grew up with music always playing on the radio and if the radio was off, the television was tuned into some show. I know many people listen to music and watch television all the time, but there is so much more to this industry. Being so passionate has led me to studying specific things in the industry and learning the ins and outs of it, which is helping me to find a potential career. There are many people in the industry that I look up to and one person, who has made it in particular, is Debra Rathwell.
I am writing to apply for the dbAchieve Sophomore Internship program in Cary, NC. As a Computer Science and English major at UNC Chapel Hill, I am very interested in the intersections between innovation, business, and culture. Deutsche’s program is one of the best examples of this intersection. By providing an internship that emphases inclusion, globalism, and diversity, as well as delivering a world class training in new and innovative technology, Deutsche exemplifies exactly what I desire out of my internship experience. Learning about other cultures and communities has been a constant drive for why I do things throughout my life.
Since the last update, I have continue to move around in the news department by shadowing reporters, anchors and or photographers that I have not got a chance to interact with. I got to help record UAB track team at the Birmingham CrossPlex and that was my first time seeing a live track race, which I thought was pretty cool. I also got to help out when Governor Siegelman was release from prison at the airport; we did a live shot for the evening show. Went out with Jamiese Price to get footage of the new Bessemer City Hall and got to interview a few people including the mayor and asked some of my own questions as well as, I even got to meet Rhonda Robinson. I went out with Melanie Posey to cover a fatal crash that was in Oak Grove and interview both principals from the elementary and high school. That was a very tough moment and seeing how close the principals were to the students was a tragic moment for them. As, I watch and listen to the question that Melanie was asking and to see the principal break down and cry and how she
The interns met and mingled, which was essential as having a good working relationship with the other interns proved to make much of the work
All business schools should have an internship program. The benefits that the internship program can give to its students are outstanding. Students that participate in internships not only benefit themselves but they can also help out other business students by bringing back valuable knowledge and sharing it with them. (Swift and Kent 1) Students also get a good taste of the high pace business world, internships can help weed out the week business students and strengthen the strong. But usually both the student and the business and the business school benefit from the internship. According to Swift and Kent researchers have reported that students who participate in formal internships find their jobs sooner and receive more job offers than do students who do not participate in internships. My internship at 6abc has been a dream come true. For me brushing elbows with a famous journalist like Jim Gardner means more than meeting a famous movie star. The atmosphere in the building is something indescribable and it changes every day, every hour to be precise. When news changes, the atmosphere changes. I have honestly dreamed of working at 6abc since I first realized I wanted to be a broadcaster. Their sense of family on television really grabbed me and I always knew that this was the place I wanted to work. Well I got here, but for only three short months, and it breaks my heart to know that I have to leave. There have been some ups and downs during my experience in the Creative Services department, but I gained a better understanding
Lochmiller expanded his descriptions of Dennis and his internship experience by providing some missing details during his interview with Dr. Hill-Jackson. Dr. Lochmiller started the interview with the challenges of failing to set high, and clear expectations. More importantly, internship programs with unclear expectations usually have less requirements and the internship may suffer (3 minute; 43 second–4 minute; 14 second). Also, Dr. Lochmiller highlighted the importance of using standards to drive the focus of the internship experience and allow the intern to assume leadership roles throughout the process (7 minute;4 second–8 minute;10 second). Dennis really struggled with being put in a position as a teacher, employee, and intern.

I have been fortunate to work with a lot of individuals in the past nine months. For example, Adventures in STEM/MindTrekkers 2018 was a big collaboration team among San Jacinto College, our local ISDs, and our Industry Partners. This initiative brought together over 611 SJC employees/students and many industry partner volunteers. With collaboration, we are able to create initiatives that have a positive impact on our students and the community. MindTrekkers gave our SJC students the opportunity to be teachers for the visiting sixth graders and allowed them to practice their interpersonal skills as a way of ensuring their success.
Throughout my internship, I was well trained and did receive a fruitful experience. The real working environment prepared me for future employment after my graduation. However, I did encounter some problems, which I gradually managed to deal with. Whatever happens, productivity increases by keeping a positive attitude.
It has been a while since I started at the internship and I am really glad I decided to work here. I think the experience in this area is a good preview of my career and future. I am learning some important skills and finding out some things about myself and the tough skin I will need in order to stay in the area of juvenile support.
My small-groups internship is helping me to improve my leadership abilities and giving me opportunities to become comfortable with both small groups and large groups of people and with public speaking. Although there is much I can still improve on, and I realize that I still have a lot of skills still to develop, I am seeing that all my training is equipping me for work in my desired
