What is my cultural identity? My cultural identity is what defines what kind of person I am. Everything I enjoy in life shows what kind of person I am. Even the little things like your favorite movie/food shows what kind of person you are. My cultural identity is important because it shapes me into who I am as a person and that is illustrated by a rosary, posole, and the movie Selena. A rosary represents my culture and me. It is a necklace with beads and a cross. The beads are used for praying. They can be either small or large. Another thing about them is that they can be different colors, there isn't just one color they have to be. A rosary connects to my culture because it represents my religion. I am catholic so it is very common for you to own a rosary. When you use these to pray it takes a long time because you have to get all the way around the necklace. It is important to me because after my grandma passed away, my family would go to a church and spend a couple hours there praying. While we were praying, it felt as if she was there with us because was a very religious person and would do the rosary every night. We prayed in Spanish as well. This is …show more content…
It is a soup that is either red or green. It has hominy and meat in it. People often like to put cabbage and radishes in it as well. People will often eat tostadas with it too. It is more of a seasonal dish, most of the time served during the winter time. It connects to my culture because it is a well known dish in the Hispanic culture. My dad and his family are from Zacatecas, Mexico they introduced me to this traditional dish that I now love so much. It is important to me because everytime I eat it, I think of someone special in my heart, my grandma, because she used to always make it for us. She was an amazing cook and always managed to satisfy everyone she was cooking for. It is a food I will never get tired of. That is why posole represents my
All in all, the cuisine of Cuba is an amazing mixture of food and dishes native to its beautiful country and the expansive influences from people all over the world leaving their touches as they came and went over the centuries.
The rich warm smells of Mexican spices permeate our house during every season. Family and our Mexican culture is an issue that is important to my family and me. I was born and raised in the United States; however I am still deeply rooted in my Mexican culture.
I live in this huge mix of culture. Culture is personal. People can have many cultures especially in America and because of globalization. Cultural identity is not one or the other, it is not Mexican or American. Cultural identity is an individual relevant thing.
The lilies allude to the purity of the scene. They are flowers that are connected to virginity and chastity. Emphasizing that Mary and Christ are both miracles. As the idea of a virgin icing birth to the son of God is considered a miracle. By putting the lilies in the earthly plane, a connection is made between the heavens and the earth in a simpler and more elegant way than that of Donatello.
To help me understand and analyze a different culture, I watched the film Selena. The film tells the life story of the famous singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. Not only does it just tell personal stories from her life, it also gives insight to the Mexican-American culture. Her whole life she lived in the United States, specifically in Texas, but was Hispanic and because of that both her and her family faced more struggles than white singers on the climb to her success. Even though the film is a story about a specific person, it brought understanding into the culture in which she lived. Keeping in mind that these ideas that I drew about the Mexican-American culture is very broad and do not apply to every single person in the culture, there were very obvious differences in their culture and the one that I belong. Mexican-American culture identifies with their family rather than individualized or spiritual identities and the culture has gone through significant changes because of discrimination and the changing demographics of the United States.
The first stanza of the poem discusses the author’s preference of red chilies as well as how they are important to Mexican culture. The green chile is then described as being
One of the best-kept secrets of Irish culture is the moving statues phenomenon that erupted in the mid-eighties all over the republic of Ireland. In August 1985, there were reports from the small town of Mountcollins that a statue of the Blessed Virgin had been seen to move. In the following months there were reports of the same phenomenon coming from small rural areas all over the country. Many people traveled to county Limerick to view the statue at Garryowen, following reports that some people had seen blood coming from one of the hands of Our Lady. The Rosary was recited several times each night as hundreds converged on the shrine. I myself went to once such gathering late at night at Mountcollins to see what was going on. The crowd chanted the Rosary over and over with their eyes glued to the statue of the Virgin Mary that was standing up in an alcove of a fake grotto similar to hundreds all over Ireland. It was dark and the statue had a spotlight on it. Behind the faithful, there was a wood with the main road beyond. The Rosary recitals gradually gave way to "Mother of God, pray for us" that quickly became a rather feverish chanting of "Pray for us, pray for us, PRAY FOR US"! that got faster and more desperate as time pasted.

The Pentagram represents the nascent forces of nature that play a mystical yet definitive role in moulding our lives. Worn like an everyday piece of jewellery, it will be noticed for its dazzling quality of workmanship as well as the lustrous stone set at its heart, glowing with an inner life.
It is a protection, evoking the desired energies you want for your magickal workings while safeguarding you and blocking negative or unwanted energies from entering. I feel that though it might be a small symbol, it is powerful. Just as the cross is a sigil of protection and faith to Christians, so is the pentacle to us. It asserts our connection to the energies of the universe and allows us access to them through its use. As a talisman, it is undeniably strong and would be a perfect decoration for any area you want kept safe, calm, and peaceful because it blocks negative energies and helps you prevent them taking hold of you and causing confusion in your
The reason behind the Lotus Flower is I’ve always had a passion for Greek Mythology. The stories behind how the Gods and Goddess came to be and possessed their powers amazes me. Ever since middle school I’ve enjoyed the many different stories and tales that the Greeks have told. I want to visit Greece one day to visit the Colosseum and tour around the ancient grounds of Greece. Art and music have been apart of my life as long as I can remember. I’ve always loved to draw and listen to music for hours to understand the lyrics or get the full meaning of a song. Everything as an underlying meaning to it, and to see art and read about how an art piece or a song came to be fascinates me. The Veterinary Symbol represents my love and affection for animals. I want to be a veterinarian when I get older. I remember waking up so early as a child to watch the vet shows that came on Animal Planet just to see how people helped the animals. Saving and giving an animal the life it deserves is what I strive to do in the future. Beach waves to me represents home. I’m originally from Holdens Beach and that’s where the majority of my family live. I enjoy going down there to see my dad and just relax on the beach. It makes me feel so peaceful and at one with myself. I go there just to get away from time to

This part of the service is called the Blessing of the Censer, and it symbolizes the manifestation of the Holy Trinity as well as the start of Jesus’ ministry. Another symbolic part of the service is when the priest faces the congregation holding up the Holy Eucharist. This symbolizes the promised Second Coming of Christ. Holy articles of the Church, such as bells and marbasas, signify angels and departed souls around in the altar. Symbolism involves all five senses: sight and hearing in singing and praying, touch in the Kiss of Peace, taste when receiving the Holy Eucharist, and smell when incense is given.
