Canada and the United states while closely related also have many differences. Today we will be covering the differences in their governments and Regional divisions. The distinction between their languages. And the diversity between holidays. You can think of Canada and the United states as siblings. While they are very similar they have their differences. First, there is a large difference between governments. In Canada they have what is called a Federal Constitutional Monarchy. This means that instead of a President they have a monarch, who is currently Prime minister, Justin Trudeau. In the United States there is a Federal Presidential Constitutional Republic. This means they have a President, who is currently President Barack Obama. In …show more content…
Canada many more things are controlled by the government, like health care. In the Us. there is private Health care. In Canada they have 10 provinces and 3 territories, but in the US. there are 50 states, 1 Federal District, and 5 major overseas territories. Secondly, the language.
While in the U.S. there are many languages spoken, English is the main dialect. In Canada they have two main languages, which are English and French. In Quebec, the biggest French speaking province in all of Canada, about 80% of the people are francophone's, meaning French is their first language. And 95% of the people in Quebec can speak French either as their first or second language. Last, there is the difference between some of the holidays. In Canada they have some holidays that most of US. Citizens have never heard of like Family Day, which takes place on Feb. 8 to celebrate families. Or Canada Day, which is held on July first. Canada Day is much like the United States Memorial day. There are even some of the same holidays, like Thanksgiving, but it is held at different times. In Canada Thanksgiving is on the second Monday in October, but in the Us. Thanksgiving it is held on the 4th Thursday in November. In conclusion, there are many similarities between Canada and the United states, but there are also a great amount of differences. Like how Canada has a Prime minister rather than a president. How, the United states main language is English while in Canada it is both French and English. And while both countries celebrate Thanksgiving it is held at different times. These are just a few of the many discrepancies between Canada and the United States of
America.
Canada has become a superior nation thru, perseverance, courage and even care as they persevered thru many dark battles, and made sure they all came thru together as a unit other than individuals. Their courage made there fighting 100% stronger as they wouldn’t back down to any task and they weren’t afraid to lose their life to help a fellow friend and country out. Care played a major aspect in each Canadian heart. There cared about Britain so they weren’t to go help them when they declared war, they helped other troops with their emotional problems and lastly they even cared a little about there enemies as they are the same person, however the only thing separating them is there culture. Canadians contributed in many ways to help our country's great efforts in the First World War.
Canada is a strong and independent country made up of thirteen unique provinces and territories. However, it took great efforts for Canada to become the united nation it is today. The British colonies were facing many problems. One solution for these issues was for the colonies to come together and form one county or nation. There were a number of different factors that pushed the colonies of British North America towards confederation. Due to political deadlock, economic challenges and pressure from the United States, confederation was absolutely necessary for the well-being and progress of Canada.
Government the ancient Egypt government is different than the Canadian government but somewhat the same the ancient government had no elections, It was kind of like a dictatorship, Whatever the king said was done, the people that praised him had no say to any of the decisions they made or anything they wanted. To become a king you must be the king's child there is no other way, There was one way, If the towns people created their own army and fought for it but that never happened. The was kind of the same but mostly different we have a queen but she doesn't make the decisions and she gives us the right to say what we want and we the people of canada make decisions. Most the work is done by the federal government. The people have a say in what they want and we are more free. Are government are somewhat the same as ancient egypt because our government is like a triangle and so is the ancient egypt. This is how our government is different but slightly the same as ancient Egypt.
The culture of Canada refers to the shared values, attitudes, standards, and beliefs that are a representative of Canada and Canadians. Throughout Canada's history, its culture has been influenced by American culture because of a shared language, proximity, television and migration between the two countries. Over time, Canadian-American relations have helped develop Canada’s identity during the years 1945-1982; thus introducing changing social norms, media and entertainment. In support of this, due to the United States being approximately 9.25 times larger in population and having the dominant cultural and economic influence, it played a vital role in establishing Canada’s identity. With Canada being its neighbour, naturally, the United States would influence their way of life upon Canada.
In the documentary “Bowling for Columbine” by Michael Moore, there were two scenes that stood out to me about the comparison between America and Canada. These scenes are the brief history of America and Michael Moore visiting Windsor, Canada. These scenes show the contrast between the two countries.
According to Michael Moore in his moving Bowling for Columbine, even though Canada and the United States are similar there are vast differences in their social policies such as healthcare, employment public assistance and criminal justice. Both countries have a large amount of people, diversity, violent movies, games, and music, yet the United States has thousands of shootings a year and Canada has very few. Bowling for Columbine looks at what is different and what is the same between the two countries and tries to find a correlation. One correlation could be the vast difference in their social policies.
Canada is an example of a nation with the question of a country wide unification among all its citizens on the table since the time of confederation in 1867 and even a few years prior. What some these factors that make Canada different from areas around it? How can a country that dominates such large land mass and that bares such vast cultural differences, be united? Can Canadians ever come to agreement upon the values they hold to be important? The debates of these questions continue to plague Canadian parliaments, especially when examining the differences between Canada and the province Quebec. Even though many argue and hope for Canada’s unity in the future, the differences in political socialization and culture present throughout the country creates a blurry vision of Canadian harmony and makes it extremely difficult to realistically vision Canadian unification. Is that, however, a bad thing?
The world is made up of many countries of many different shapes and sizes. They 're also made up of different governments. Some countries have similar governments to one another while others have governments that are different. An example of such countries are the United States of America and Australia. In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the governments of the US and Australia.
The first way in which Canada distinguishes itself following the American Revolutionary War was through traditional political values. “The two north American societies display clear differences rooted in their formative events”4. Having been formed out of violent revolution in opposition to British tyranny has made American views on personal liberty unyielding. Canada being founded on peaceful negotiation tends to take a more conservative approach when it comes to conflict resolution and peoples freedoms. Secularism or the separation of the church from state matters is abundantly clear in the British North American colonies, “...The colonies and territories that became Canada developed under greater state control, either as conquered colonies
New France and Canada, although are different in many ways, in speaking of political, religious, economic, and, social similarities and differences views, they are also quite similar as well. For example, both Canada and New France have somewhat equal rights for women, and we both have different positions of power in the political system. But Canada has a demographic government, while New France was run by a monarchy.
Canada and China are very different States and are run by very different forms of government. The basic underlying difference between the two governments is the location of sovereignty in the counties. In China it seems as though the people do play a large part in the government, but after studying it, it is evident that the power really rests with the Communist party and the dictatorship. While in Canada the people popularly elect their representatives who elect their Prime Minister.
The cultural difference between Canada is huge. Both the countries are multicultural but Canada is more western in culture whereas Singapore are mostly dominated by Chinese, Malay, and Indian culture. According to the Greet Hofstede Model,
Canada has a long standing tradition of having a culturally diverse population, stating with the formation of New France in 1534 and continuing on with British North America in 1763. With the large area of the country and the small population these cultures where able to maintain their heritages while becoming one united country in 1867. While the United States prides itself on being a cultural melting pot, Canada prides itself on being a cultural mosaic. Instead of assimilating into the already formed communities that where in Canada, each new Culture that immigrated into the country migrated into a new spot and adapted with their own practices. This makes Canada one of the world leaders in Multicultural policies,
The most important thing a Canadian should know is that Canada is a peaceful country. Canada does not start wars or go into to wars Canada will go into wars only if it has to. You can be any color and your still always allowed to be in Canada. we do not have any colored washrooms. Canada resolves conflict by sending people to court and to jail instead of torching people. We do not have as many terrorist attacks as other countries. There are also the charter of rights and freedoms. Every won has all the rights and every won can vote and it does not matter if you are a girl or boy. In other countries you are only allowed to vote if you are a man. We are free to do things that other countries can’t do we can travel anywhere we want. Canada has
The research reveals that there are more similarities than differences. When comparing gun laws in Canada to that in the USA, and the gun laws in Canada are more strict than in the USA.
