The stereotype that hispanics are the same is false because they differ in many more ways than they are similar. This stereotype of latinos ignores the different ethnicities within the hispanic community, their minor similarities presume people to believe they are what they’re not, there are many differences between latinos such as the Mexican and Puerto Rican origins (nationality). Although there are similarities between hispanics, they are very different culture wise.

In the hispanic community there are many different ethnicities such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Cuba. These ethnicities are similar in ways and are different in others. People tend to get the difference between Mexicans and the other ethnicities such as Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and Cubans. Some of these ethnicities are from a country, territory, and islands. After the war in 1898 the United States claimed Puerto Rico along other Spanish colonies. Anyone born in Puerto Rico is a United States citizen by law and is allowed to freely enter the United States when needed. Puerto Rico is very different from the other ethnicities like Mexico. As mentioned before Puerto Ricans are free to leave Puerto Rico to visit and live in the United States while people who are born in Mexico and live there have to have their legal documents or they will be deported. Puerto Ricans are very different from Mexicans not just the way they can enter the U.S. Puerto Rico and Mexico are different culture wise. Their food contains of Bacalaitos, Mofongo, Empanadillas, Tostones, and Chicken with white rice and beans. The music they listen to is Salsa, Reggaeton, and Bachata.
