I think that the Cuban political system is democratic due to the fact that it encourages people of all background to participate in politics. Furthermore, since politicians are mostly on a voluntarily basis, it makes it hard for incumbents to retain their position financial wise, since they have to balance their political duties with their non-lucrative day jobs. Besides that, since no one is allowed to endorse or campaign for a position, this will allow only those people that are well known throughout the community. Although some people might say that the Cuban political system is undemocratic due to there is only one ruling political party, this opinion can be debunked.
