I started CrossFit in 2014, after researching the rehabilitative effects of the sport. I was experiencing uncontrollable bouts of anxiety, night terrors and anger that was negatively impacting my Army career. I went to a nearby CrossFit box and I signed up on the spot. I immediately became addicted to the intensity of the WODs, the extreme high I got from lifting, and the constant encouragement from those around me. I truly felt my life changing for the better! At one point I tore my MCL at work and I remember how badly I couldn’t wait to get back into the box and do work! CrossFit had become my place of Zen, my home, my own crazy little community. Just over a year later, I got my CF-LV1. I want to do for the CrossFit community what it had …show more content…
This year my long term goal was to focus more on being consistent with my weaknesses. I wanted pullups by the Open had and luckily they came through in the nick of time. Now I would like to get HSPUs by the time I go home to see my family this summer. I want to keep challenging myself to maximize my capabilities; something I wasn’t comfortable doing until I came to CrossFit Ergon. My ultimate goal is to complete my time in the Army and coach Adaptive Athletes and Veterans.Understanding that I will not always perform at 100% and it will be okay helps me remain confident in my training and motivated to meet new goals. I am here to progress in a sport that takes time, lots of technique and patience. Accepting that there are movements I cannot do (at the moment) and enjoying the little wins here and there, help me remain positive. Being surrounded by such an uplifting coaching staff and community of athletes that have come together like CrossFit Ergon has; it is not hard to find the motivation to come and train often. Show up and do work! Accept that most things won’t happen overnight and that every day is another opportunity to better

The thing that brings me the greatest joy is physical activity. I love outdoor sports and working out in the gym. My quest to keep testing my limits gives me the confidence to handle new challenges and strive for excellence in all my goals. Exercise and other physical activities keep me calm and make me feel at
You are going to want to give up, you are gonna get impatient but it is vital that you listen to what you are told. The old saying, “Minor setback major comeback” is very relevant to the patients going through any kind of injury. You may be broken now, but if you heal correctly you could come back better than you were before. The most important outcome for me is that my patients have gotten the best care they could have received and they have recovered to the fullest extent and for my patients I would like them to know that their injury does not define them, it is what happens after that matters the most. The methods that I would want to use would be pushing my clients to always work hard for what they want to achieve; Granted, there are different injuries so each one will be handled in a different way. For example, if a client comes in with a torn ligament in their arm it is not going to be an easy process for them. My job just does not involve making sure my clients heal, but also motivating them not give up and to always see the brighter side of their injury. I will know that I have accomplished all of my patients’ goals when they are healthy and ready to be active again. Giving someone a second chance and watching them make the most out of it is rewarding enough. As long as I did my duties as an Athletic Trainer, I would feel accomplished

Athletic Trainers play a crucial part in today’s professional sports. They also help on lower levels of sports in high school, and college level teams. The job of an athletic trainer is simple yet very important, they are charged with treating, and preventing injuries. A trainer does this by developing therapies to reduce pain, and improve mobility (“Athletic Trainer Salaries”). They have to stand for long periods of time, work well with athletes of different sizes, move or carry equipment around, good mobility and communication skills to give instructions (“Athletic Trainer, Healthcare Program”). These trainers serve as a crucial part of an athlete getting back into their sport. Athletic trainers usually work under the direction of a physician, so they are like the Doctor’s healing hands in action.
I joined my school’s cross country team in the summer. At the beginning we performed pre-season workouts. The training was tough, but my proud personality and the very thought of what I had to gain kept me motivated and helped me push through the pain. Every time I felt like giving up or quitting, I would say to myself, “This pain is only temporary; remember that the reward will be permanent, and it will be worth the pain that I endure today.” I was able to push through the
What is surprising about experience is that it is not as brutal as I imagined it to be. I thought it would be a place for a lot of super experienced athletes that work at very high intensities at all times but I was surprised to see that the programs are designed and modified for all kinds of people. CrossFit is everywhere these days. There are multiple deals online trying to entice people to sign up for a one-month trial. New “boxes” are popping up left and right. CrossFit is all over social media, magazines, and television. The question is, is it right for you? The only way to determine whether it’s right for you is to simply give it a try for yourself. Assuming you know nothing about CrossFit, I think it would be beneficial to do a little bit of research before signing up. The shift in my overarching training philosophy came when I could no longer convince myself to do more. Telling myself "what ever it takes" wasn't convincing enough to get outside my comfort zone and train at or beyond threshold on hard days; I found myself changing or skipping hard workouts altogether. It took some time for me to figure it out. Although I still have doubts at times, I can ask myself "am I still having fun?” and a bad workout turns into another experience that maintains my love of the sport, and ignites my desire to do
