In this paper, I will discuss police brutality and killings of unarmed minorities and the racial injustice they continue to endure in our great nation. This prejudice problem falls under the Critical Race Theory. As explained by (Delgado, R., & Stefancic, J. 2012) “Critical Race Theory, or CRT, is a theoretical and interpretive mode that examines the appearance of race and racism across dominant cultural modes of expression. In adopting this approach, CRT scholars attempt to understand how victims of systemic racism are affected by cultural perceptions of race and how they are able to represent themselves to counter prejudice.” CRT is applied to the inequalities received by individuals’ due to their gender, race, social class, and ethnicity. …show more content…

These outcomes have been the realities for many families who have lost someone to questionable and excessive uses of force by police in recent years. In a recent article written by (King, S. New York Daily News. 2017) he states: “It's hard for me to write this, but we must be honest about our status in the fight against police brutality in America. We are losing. I have two primary metrics for that conclusion. First, 2017 is on pace to be the deadliest year ever measured for the number of people killed by police in our country. We can never claim to be winning the battle against police brutality if American police are killing more and more people. Period.
Secondly, even the most egregious officers, in the most heinous cases of police violence, with the most overwhelming evidence, are still beating the charges against them.” For the last 150 years, police officers have been entrusted to serve and protect the law and thus accountability is of the essence.
Sadly, to say this accountability has been lost and far too many of these officers committing
