The Cabin On the thirteenth of October, 1949, it was a cold and wet day plagued with a brisk wind that swept the ice cold wind aggressively across the grey sky. The Ward family had been staying at a Cabin that they had owned for five years and is located right outside of Rosewood Pennsylvania. Zayah Ward, who was the only child, was a little stubborn, but loved the great outdoors and participate in activities. As for Zayah’s parents, Jennah and David, they loved the outdoors just as much as their ambitious little daughter did, but more than the outdoors, they loved their daughter. They cherished every minute with her and would do anything to make her happy.
On this dreary raining day, as they listened to the rain slam against the windows,

Zayah started to pull a fit, and ran upstairs to the attic, to her fort, in which she built a couple years ago and always went when her parents were not being fair. She thumped her feet onto the ground as tears ran down her face. Seconds later, she heard little footsteps travel cautiously towards her, followed by faint squeals. In a panic, she quickly turned around, looked down at the wood floor, and there she saw a rat. This rat was like no rat she had seen before, this rat, although small, was fierce. At first glance, this rat looked like all others, but when Zayah looked a little closer she felt a chill in her spine. This rat stared at Zayah with vengeance in its beady red eyes, as if the rat had been searching for one specific person, Zayah. Zayah only wanted to run away as fast as she could, but she panicked instead, and that is when the rat charged at her and bit …show more content…
Jennah stopped the car with a jerk as David immediately jumped out, taking Zayah with him, as he ran through the emergency room doors to the hospital. Just as the trio went through the doors, a nurse who had seen the fear in Zayah’s parent’s eyes, yelled for more help. It was within what seemed liked minutes, but in actuality was seconds, about five nurses and a doctor ran over to help. They immediately took Zayah, put her in a wheelchair and rushed her away. Jennah and David were besides themselves with grief, as they tried to keep up with their daughter, they were stopped as they reached the end of the hallway and were told to wait there. Jennah and David held each other and cried for the first hour, then David shrank into a chair as Jennah paced the hallway continuously. After five hours of not knowing what was going on with their daughter, a doctor suddenly came out of the room. Zayah’s parents shot up with eagerness, as the doctor started to explain about their daughter’s status. She slowly and empathically gave them the bad news. The doctor explained, “The rat that bit your daughter transferred a rare and ‘unknown’ disease that cannot be treated. Your daughter only has a few hours to live”. Jennah’s and David’s hearts’ dropped in that moment. After a few minutes of crying, they pulled themselves together to go spend their daughter’s last hours beside her. In silence, the parents entered the room to see
A tall black rat entered the shop holding a basket. She wore a yellow bonnet and matching dress. She walked around the shop while Oliver finished unloading the radishes. Timmy had somehow fallen into the bin.
Before them they saw bones, dead animal skins and they say the worst thing was the smell of it all. Mary Anne was found wearing a necklace of human tongues, but still in the clothes she had arrived in. She was the same girl on the outside for the most part, but she had completely changed on the inside forever. Mark didn’t believe his eyes and he wanted to bring her back to be the way she was. Rat said to him, “Man, you must be deaf.
Jenna eventually watched a video of herself playing soccer. She noticed in the video she had cut her chin.. After the video she thought to herself, I don't have a scar now, do scars hear like that? Jenna decided to seek answers and disobeyed her mother's rules. She began to leave home and explore for answers to her past.. She ended up meeting her neighbor Mr. Bender. Mr. Bender knew a lot about her and the past. Jenna talked to Mr. Bender for a while, and finally asked how Mr. Bender knew all about her? Mr. Bender lied, and told her he learned about her by exploring the internet. Jenna eventually left visiting with Mr. Bender and felt she had met a friend, her only friend. While Jenna was walking home, she came across a little creek and slipped into it. The fall sparked a flashback of when she was young and nearly drowned.. This was the first memory that she remembered since the accident. When Jenna got home, her mother seemed overly anxious to get her wound fixed on her knee. A day later, Jenna went with her grandmother to their Catholic Church. Jenna thought that Lily was not fond of her, but went anyway. She went primarily, because anything was better than being at
Then it turned and reared upon its hind legs" (Wright 4). Initially, the rat is shown as helpless, with no intent to hurt Bigger. The rat's fight for its survival becomes so desperate, however, that it leaps at Bigger's pant leg in an attempt to protect itself. Bigger, like the rat, finds himself trapped and frenzied when he is in Mary's room.... ...
The first half of my book “The Cellar” written by Natasha Preston, was so good that I could not put the book down. The girl, at that point, had no memories which include her name and anything before she woke up on a dirty, bloody cabin floor. She looked down at her throbbing hand and found that two of her fingernails were missing.
“Straining his eyes, he saw the lean figure of General Zaroff. Then... everything went dark. Maggie woke up in her bed. “Finally woke up from that nightmare. Man… I miss my brother. Who was that person that my brother wanted to kill?” she looks at the clock and its 9:15am “Crap I’m late for work!” Maggie got in her car and drove to the hospital for work.
As the family walks through the cold, dark hallway tears of sorrow running down their faces hoping for good news as they slowly approach the doctor. Dr. Stark begins to say “I’m deeply sorry but, your daughter Moira could not be saved. You put her in my care during her last moments, I’ll never forget her last few words she was able to mutter out ‘Tell my family I am so sorry I snuck out, this is all my fault and I love you guys.’ I will personally pay for her funeral in return of her death because you trusted me with her life and I failed you.” Mrs. Díaz sobbed “No, you kind soul don’t even think about paying for the funeral that wouldn’t be right. Thank you for trying, but, she was to young she still had years of life to come, she never even had a chance love.”
There was a swarming, hot, wild meaty rustling, and a foul smell. Out of the box, as she held it up in the moonlight, swarmed small scaly lizard-like creatures with bat wings and burning red
“AHHHHH!” , I hear echoing around the garage walls. My heart starts beating frantically as I turn around to see who just screamed bloody murder. In no time, I see the garage door closing in on little Nella’s five-year-old body. My forehead breaks out into perspiration and my brain floods with a million outcomes while I am hoping the only one that comes true is that she is safe.
“Is he dead?” Nevil’s dad asked. Ben shook his sadly, and a tear rolled down his cheek. Larry, the one who quietly whispered car, silently cursed to himself. He would never forgive himself for not screaming car a little louder. The doctor for Nevil’s room walked out and invited the grief stricken father to join his family. “Excuse me. Which one of you is Tommy?” The doctor stated. My head perked up and my arm followed simultaneously. “Nevil had a note in his pocket titled for Tommy. Here.” The doctor handed me the paper and a tear immediately splashed onto the letter. Sally, Mary, Ben, Danny, Larry, and the other Redhand members all crowded around me, but I stood up and walked away, leaving my group. “Hey did you hear about that teen in 341 who was pushed into a street by one of his friends. I heard that,” Two nurses that were gossiping quickly ceased as I turned the corner to find a quiet spot. When I found a little cranny near the maternity ward, I opened the letter and
Sarah and Julia are no exception to this feeling and the conflicts that are created by it. They end up using these experiences to reflect and to continue on their journey to authenticity. Everyone has experienced a passing relative or a disconnection with an old friend, these key moments in our lives make us step back and reevaluate ourselves. Sarah experiences great grief during her journey in July 1942. Once Sarah and her parents arrived at the Velodrome d’Hiver, Sarah continued to ask her father when they are going to go back to their apartment, Sarah’s father explains “There is nothing we can do… Nothing.” (de Rosnay 56). Sarah’s tried to gently tell Sarah there is no hope of getting back to her brother in time or at all. Sarah realizes the gravity in leaving Michael behind, “The girl understood. She was no longer a happy little ten-year-old girl. She was someone much older. Nothing would ever be the same again. For her. For her family. For her brother.” (de Rosnay 57) This moment of potential loss changes something in Sarah making her into a strong and harder little girl, trying to survive these horrendous circumstances and keeping hope for her brother's safety and survival in their secret cupboard. At the Drancy camp, Sarah and her mother are stripped from each other, in that moment she sees her mother break, crumble into something unknown. “Gone was the happy, loving woman. Gone was the mother who used to sweep
All of a sudden, Sara fainted and fell down on the ground. Talal let out a sharp scream. She was scared that Sara could no longer talk or breathe well. “Please, don’t waste time screaming, we may lose her. We have to do something quick!’
She lay there sobbing, until she finally gathered up the courage to go and talk to her. “Cathy” she called. There were many people in the room testing her blood samples, asking her questions but all she could wonder was why. She went over to Cathay. “Meghan, she cried, I just found out, I guess there's nothing for me to do now she laughed. Meghna held ear and hands tightly. “Thank you so much for being with me all these years, Meghan, I know this might be our last goodbye, but I always want you to know that I will always be there for you in your heart, never forget that, she got up and hugged her. “Man, it's time for you to leave, please say goodbye” called a nurse. “Cathy, I am so so sorry, I love you so much, don’t leave me please, please… she cried. “Mum, please leave’ said the nurse. Meghan walked out the door, watching as her friend burst into tears as soon as the door closed behind, she realised the horrible truth. She was the one who bought that disease back from the past, she was the one who had killed her friend, she was the one responsible for all this sorrow.
The Creature That Opened My Eyes Sympathy, anger, hate, and empathy, these are just a few of the emotions that came over me while getting to know and trying to understand the creature created by victor frankenstein in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. For the first time I became completely enthralled in a novel and learned to appreciate literature not only for the great stories they tell but also for the affect it could have on someones life as cliché as that might sound, if that weren’t enough it also gave me a greater appreciation and understanding of the idiom “never judge a book by its cover.” As a pimply faced, insecure, loner, and at most times self absorbed sophomore in high school I was never one to put anytime or focus when it came time
...d shots and Alan’s hand had gotten hit. The boys were back inside and the police called and told them that Doctor Curt had arrived. Doctor Curt spoke to the boys and told them that the first shot had been an accident; and that he had read the paper and it looked fine, so they could come out. The kids all walked out, they dropped their guns and were handcuffed, except for Zach who went to his mother and got his medication.
