Karen and I would always go play in the wood. It was hurricane season and a big hurricane came by and knocked all the trees down. Being kids we had a big imagination and the trees that fell were out houses, cars, and shopping centers. All the kids in the neighborhood would come by and play as well. We would travel two miles a day just to get to the secret location of the fallen trees. Karen and I were best friends and did everything tighter. We would walk to school, skip school, and even go shopping with each other’s parent. We were so close that people thought we were in a relationship. Playing in the woods was something that we liked to do. It was a way to let our imagination run wild and be free. Karen always thought she was on the runway, …show more content…
Down like a helpless victim, I hit the ground. I didn’t know what happened, I was nervous, scared, and upset that I couldn’t defend myself against the bullies. As I looked up all I can see was my best friend defend me the best way she knew how. She was kicking and screaming for help but everyone just ignored. As I lay there all the “shoulda, coulda, woulda,” came into my mind. If only we had decided to go home the right way instead of going through the alley. My mind was racing, Karen called the police. Finally, she said. It took you long enough. I arrived at the hospital and they took an x-ray of my face. My lower jaw was broken. I didn’t know how I was going to tell my mom and dad. I was a victim of bullying and it went way too far. Karen was my hero, she was there for me the entire time and never left my side. Karen fought for me, got help, and gave me a shoulder to cry on. I felt hopeless if only I took those karate classes mom told me to go to. Karen didn’t get hurt just a bruised knee from when they push her It only takes one person to be a hero. Karen as my friend helps me as a friend should. But nobody should be a victim of bullying. It all started playing in the wood and ended up in the hospital. I called my mom and she was so upset. My mother was mad that I went through the alley in the first place. As I laid in the uncomfortable cold hospital bed, my mind just rambled think of why they picked me in the first place. As I began to drift off into a deep sleep Karen says, “They Caught Them.” My mind was at rest that the bullies had learned their

Located in the popular Yosemite National Park, Yosemite Falls is the tallest waterfall in California. Every year, mother nature’s breathtaking beauty attracts millions of people from around the world. People hike for three long and fatiguing hours in anticipation of witnessing forceful water rushing down the steep mountain from 2,425 feet above. Last summer, my family and I backpacked through the Yosemite Falls Trail and I came to learn what a truly exhausting experience it is.
The Creature That Opened My Eyes Sympathy, anger, hate, and empathy, these are just a few of the emotions that came over me while getting to know and trying to understand the creature created by victor frankenstein in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. For the first time I became completely enthralled in a novel and learned to appreciate literature not only for the great stories they tell but also for the affect it could have on someones life as cliché as that might sound, if that weren’t enough it also gave me a greater appreciation and understanding of the idiom “never judge a book by its cover.” As a pimply faced, insecure, loner, and at most times self absorbed sophomore in high school I was never one to put anytime or focus when it came time
As the sun rose in a pool of crimson gold, light spilled across the sprawling rainforest, heralding in the start of a new day. Thousands of feet below under the thick canopy of trees, I was abruptly woken by the raucous cry of a large bird. Sluggishly sitting up on my thick taffeta sleeping mat, I turned to see my equipment shambolically scattered from last night’s blind rummage for a torch. My body ached from last night's trek. Struggling to crawl out, I was struck by a burst of crisp, cool and calming gush of wind.
I stood at the end of the driveway with a bag of clothes and my little sisters by my side. My dad pulled up, we got in the truck, and we drove about 10 minutes until we got to his shop. This would seem like a normal day, but things were different this time. We weren 't at the shop to ride the four wheelers around or to play basketball in the garage or to mess with the pinball machines. There was a gloomy feel about everything around us. Even though I didn’t say anything, I knew things were changing.
I find it so astonishing that this whole community of people have fought so hard to keep those horses safe and protected as can be, bearing in mind the spot the City already put them in. In addition, they were truly considerate to think of the young children’s futures and well-beings as they were the only neighborhood that wasn’t dangerous, giving them a sense of security and a chance to teach them, what they call, “”The Cowboy
A normal life of a teenage girl in high school named Darcy. She lives in a small apartment with only her sister named Jamee, her mother named Mattie, and her grandma that is on stroke. Darcy was a sophomore in highschool that only had her one friend named Brisana. They were always straight A students and would usually characterize other “low-lives” on a scale from 1 - 10. The only problem is that her sister Jamee was having trouble in school and was always in trouble. Jamee was an 8th grader and was found hanging out with bad people who are laid back in highschool with their driver’s license. Jamee used to be a good child until her father left them for another woman. To make it even more sad, her grandma ended up in a stroke which made her immobilized and in risk of death. While their mother was barely home since she works almost 24/7. While Darcy was in school, she was assigned a project to do with a girl name Tarah. A girl she didn’t like from how she was very “stupid” according to her. But Darcy found out that just because the person you . hate, doesn’t mean that the person does not have a heart once you get to know that person. They ended up doing that when going to the ocean with Tarah and her boyfriend Cooper. But Cooper started to mess around with Darcy and threw a water bug that lives off of blood onto her sweater. Darcy screamed and struggled it off of her sweater, but ending up with her going home on the bus. While she was waiting for the bus, a Silver Toyota car came up with no one else on the street. Darcy was scared if he was going to do something to her and hoped that the bus came faster and luckily it did. A couple of days after, Cooper an...
she always used to wish for a way to escape her life. She saw memories
The day I discovered that I was turning round, that my legs could not carry me fast enough, that the boys I used to beat up now towered over me; anger glinted inside like a raised knife waiting to fall. From then on, I stopped fighting with boys and started fighting with girls instead. I could have died for my gang - a group of seven girls who knew that their only honor was their strength.
As I saunter onto the school field, I survey the premises to behold people in coats, shielding themselves from winter's blues. The sun isn't out yet, but the place bursting with life and exuberance, with people gliding across the ice covered floor almost cat-like. The field is effervescent and despite the dire conditions, the field seems to have taken on a life of its own. The weather is bad and the ice seems to burn the skin if touched, yet the mood is still euphoric. The bare shrubs and plants about the place look like they've been whipped by Winter himself. The air is frosty and at every breath the sight of steam seems to be present. A cold, cruel northerly wind blows across the playground and creates unrest amongst some. Crack! The crisp sound of leaves is heard, as if of ice splitting and hissing. Squirrels are seen trying to find a point of safety, scurrying about the bare trees that lie around the playground. Mystery and enigma clouds the playing field, providing a sense of anticipation about the place. Who is going to be the person to spoil the moment? To kill the conversation?
It had been several months since the attacks started, first D.C fell and then everything went to hell in a handbasket. People turned on each other, and with no formal government, people did what was right in their own eyes. It reminded Ken of Judges, and the deep descent into sin that they went through. Ken and his brother Paul had been on the road for a few months now, slowly creeping their way to colorado with the hope of finding their brother and parents. It weighed on Ken’s heart to have seen what everyone had become, although they did not become what they are, they had always been that way.
Imagine a normal 10 year old girl who doesn’t look any different than any other person attending school. Every day in class this girl is ridiculed and called nasty names by her classmates for no apparent reason. The young girl tries to keep a brave face to hide what she’s going through at school. Many questions passed through her head on why this was happening to her. After months of being tormented the 10 year old broke down and tells her mother about her situation with her classmates. She asked her mother the reasons why kids would tease another person. The mother responded by telling her daughter there was nothing wrong with her and kids bullied others for fun, which boosted her tormentors egos when they made others feel smaller. With the support and help of her mother, she was able to overcome being a victim of bullying. The 10 year old girl I just spoke about was me and this is was my story. In this essay I will be discussing why bullying is a big problem, the reasons kids are bullied, why victims don’t report being bullied, and how we can make a difference to help stop bullying.
For my first nine years, we used to live in a apartment in San Luis, Arizona. An apartment that consisted of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and a living room. We were all piled with one and the other. My parents and my two little sister Elizabeth and Jouselyn slept in one room. My older two brothers Carlos and Emilio in another room. My sister Lesly and I slept together in another room. After school my siblings and I would spent most of our time outside. My brothers would roamed around with their bikes, play soccer with the kids next doors, and play videogames in their home. My sisters and I would played with any kid that was outside. We would played hide and seek, tag, collect white garden snails, climbed on trees, and anything else
That day I came home with a giant smile on face, and proudly gave my father the detention slip. I told him the story and he looked at me with such pride. Not because of the detention but because I stood up for my self. If i never stood up for myself, I would not be who I am today. I learned how to defend myself physically and figuratively. Those words that, the girl said, they tore me down. Then I decided that they wouldn’t any longer. I decided that those people and what they said were wrong. What they said only made me stronger.
When I looked back up margot was suddenly staring me right in the eye. All of a sudden I heard loud boom, crack. almost like a whip. It was a combination of the thunder and Margot’s fist pounding into the side of my face. Pain spread through my cheek and to my mouth. I could feel exactly where Margot’s soft fist had impacted. I felt the tears rush to my eyes, dripping down slowly. Everyone in the hallway gasped as Margot ran off to the classroom. The truth of the matter is, I deserved it. Every second was payback for what I did to poor Margot. I wanted to go after her and try to apologize again however I could tell she wanted to be alone. After a while, I walked back to the classroom. I went straight to my desk, avoiding eye contact with my teacher and Margot for by the time had gotten back the next lesson had already begun. I had a plan to ignore Margot until I found a proper way to apologize, sadly, that plan failed. As we copied down our homework I went to look at the board. In the act of taking down notes my eyes meet with Margot’s. She gave me a thunderous look. Her eyes burned into
