Clementine was a twelve year old girl. She was like any other child. She loved to draw, to read, and she had the most caring and compassionate Mother in the world. She had a perfect and regular life, or so she thought. There was something different about Clementine. She thought she was just a normal kid, but Clementine had a gift. Well, more of a curse actually. She had a very powerful mind, and when she would dream, her mind would become a strong and powerful place. A very dangerous place. She didn't know it at the time but when Clementine would dream, whatever she dreamt would become a reality. It all started out with small things. For example, if she dreamt of a lollipop, a lollipop would appear next to her bedside the next day. Or if she …show more content…
dreamt of snow falling when she would wake up, it would happen. But it got worse over the years. Once she became older her “gift” became her curse. Especially if she had nightmares. Now they wouldn't be extreme or anything, only until the night she dreamt of her death. Let me explain: It all started the day her teacher, Ms. Rose, asked the class to write down their worst fears and write a paper about them. Clementine wasn't sure what she would put as her worst fears. She thought maybe she would put down clowns or bugs as her fears, but she thought it would be too childish. So, she wrote down what she was really afraid of. What made her shiver just thinking about it. The fear that gave her goose bumps. She wrote down her death. She was afraid of dying. She was afraid of losing everything. Of losing her life. Her worst fear was dying. Ms. Rose then called on some students to share what they wrote down. Clementine was the first to share. She stood up from her seat and said “My worst fear in life, is dying. I am afraid to die. I don’t want leave everything I have behind. I don’t want to see what is on the “other side.” I’m afraid I will be left behind. I will be alone. Left in a dark hole, left to rot for the rest of eternity.” The class went silent. Apparently, the class didn't go into depth with their fears. They wrote the whole clowns and bugs fears. Oh no, now they all think I’m crazy, Clementine thought. Ms. Rose finally broke the silence, “Um, Thank you Clementine. That was very…interesting. Thank you. You may sit back down now.” Clementine was very embarrassed. When she came home, she told her mother about class and how embarrassed she got when everyone was staring at her in shock. Clementine’s mother told her, “Clem, everyone has their embarrassing moments. I’m sure your class will probably forget about it by tomorrow. Don’t worry, everything will be fine. How about you just sleep on it for tonight, okay? “Okay.” Clementine replied. “That’s my girl”, Clementine’s mother said and smiled, “See you in the morning.” Clementine kissed her mother on the cheek and walked to her bedroom to go to bed.
Clementine loved her mom. Her mom was always there for her. She would never want to lose her mom. I thinks that’s one of the reasons I’m afraid to die, Clementine thought, I don't want to lose my mother. When Clementine was in bed, sound asleep, the worst was about to begin. Her dream began, and it started with her lying in a meadow. She was lying on the tall, yet soft, grass. Flowers were all around and she was looking up at the bluest sky she had ever seen. The breeze was just slightly blowing to where the dandelion seeds were only falling one by one. Clementine was playing with a ladybug that had landed on her finger and laughed at how it tickled her fingertips. Then, the ladybug fell. It hit the ground and her whole perfect world began collapsing. That little ladybug was a trigger. The blue sky turned gray, the flowers began dying, and the once tall, soft grass was stabbing her in the back. Clementine stood up but the wind was so strong, she was struggling to stand up. When she finally got her balance, she saw figures heading her way. They were people in masks and there was an army of them. She started to run in the other direction, but she couldn't. She was stuck. The tall grass was tangled around her legs, making it unable for her to
move. She began to scream “PLEASE SOMEONE, HELP ME!!” But there was no one who could help. When the strangers with black and white face masks came into reaching distance of Clementine, they revealed themselves. There were all men and on their faces were nothing more than muscle, blood, and bone. Clementine screamed hoping this nightmare would end, but it didn't. It continued. One man was standing right in front of Clementine. He grabbed her throat, lifting her up from the ground, releasing the grass from her ankles, and threw her across the field. Clementine fell on her back and lost her breath. She tried to crawl away, but she couldn't. Then the huge group of people walked over to where Clementine fell with knives in their hands. Clementine then used all her strength to stand up and started to run away. She started to make distance from the group until a knife was thrown and hit her in the back. She fell and the man who threw Clementine was standing above of her limbless body. He said, “Any last words?” Clementine was in so much pain that she couldn't even speak, but then she remembered that this was all just a dream and if she was killed, it wouldn't be true. So, she said “Go ahead, do it.” And he did. He stabbed her right in the heart. Then the others joined in. Clementine was stabbed in every place possible. The pain was all around her body. She expected to wake up and be back in her room in her bed, but she wasn’t. The next day, Clementine was found still sound asleep in bed. Dead. Clementine’s nightmare became her reality. Thanks to her special “gift”. It’s just a shame that it was her worst fear. Her death.
I was sitting with my friend, Pistol on one of the bucking shoots watching the barrel race.
The meteor crashing into the moon was spasmodic, yet it left the world to crumble in it’s wake of destruction. The sun seems to not exist, because of the volcanic ash that has diffused throughout the air. Fresh produce no longer exists, and death comes sudden to those who are too weak to go on. “‘ I feel like it should be a dream and when I wake up none of it will have happened, said Miranda.’” (Pg.27) As the world dwindles away, Miranda dreams about her best friend Becky in heaven, and mounds of food surrounding her. The dreams tantalize her, making her more desperate for strength through the h...
She remembers a nightmare where she did not know where or who or what she was, nor what was happening. “Do you know she is going to die, Jewel?” Darl said. “It takes two people to make you, and one people to die.” I said to Dewey Dell: “You want her to die so you can get to town: is that it?”
...cts of the mother and the descriptions, which are presented to us from her, are very conclusive and need to be further examined to draw out any further conclusions on how she ?really? felt. The mother-daughter relationship between the narrator and her daughter bring up many questions as to their exact connection. At times it seems strong, as when the narrator is relating her childhood and recounting the good times. Other times it is very strained. All in all the connection between the two seems to be a very real and lifelike account of an actual mother-daughter relationship.
The illustration of Margaret’s mother standing in the doorway looking down on Clementine shows there is a direct didactic lesson taking place. This picture reinforces the adult-centeredness that is being portrayed because her mother is an obvious authority figure and therefore knows what is right. Margaret’s mothers concern of Clementine’s and Margaret’s behavior shows that she is caring and giving the children knowledge that they should be taking to heart. She is teaching them a direct lesson. Margaret’s mother standing in the doorway, hovering over Clementine, shows that she is the center of authority and gives her power. When she tells Clementine that she should be in her room thinking about the consequences of her actions it shows that Clementine and Margaret need to be thinking about their actions and learning a lesson. Punishment weakens a behavior because a negative condition is introduced or experienced as a consequence of the b...
Similarly, Connie, a young girl at an age of innocence, has little knowledge about the dangers lurking in the adult world; hence, she is easily convinced by people around her. The moment Connie stands behind the screen door is when she’s on the brink of leaping into a new world. Indeed, she stands on the threshold of adulthood and finds herself surrounded by temptations. She seems to be afraid, but at the same time raising her curiosity about what awaits her behind that doorway to adulthood. In the end, her innocent stage of life is over as she falls into the grasp of Arnold Friend.

The plot of the film, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” begins with Clementine and Joel sharing a train ride. They have a past together but neither remembers it. Joel a rather introverted type of guy meets Clementine a rambunctious young lady with green hair on a train ride. Although they do not realize that they had shared a life together, they eventually fall in love around Valentine’s Day. Their love eventually begins to fade, and Joel and Clementine both at different times have their memories erased. First Clementine, erases her memory of their relationship. As the plot thickens, Clementine’s hair color becomes tangerine. This becomes a nick name given to her by her new boyfriend as she seems to transition from her old self to her new self. Joel finds out what she did and also sees her with another man and begins the process of erasing his memory of Clementine. Joel realizes during his memory erase process, that he still loves Clementine, but the process is almost finished. In the end they find themselves on the beach where it all begin and where they first saw each other.
By the time Julie returned her grandmother was ever so lightly snoring. The look of gratification and appreciation of Julie’s previously stern face melted my heart and again my eyes welled with tears. The fence Julie had built around her heart slowly disintegrated as she observed the bond I had developed with her “mom”. With a quivering voice, Julie revealed the stress and emotional turmoil of watching this devastating disease imprison the only mother she had ever known.
Joel and Clementine were very much in love, but their diverse lifestyles drove them apart. Clementine is very adventurous, impulsive while Joel is very mechanical and prefers his routine. Nevertheless, Clementine’s presence in Joel’s life gives him purpose. However, since Clementine and Joel are opposites, their relationship comes to an end. They are both devastated and cannot handle the pain of a broken heart. Clementine decides to go under a procedure to physically erase all memories of their past and upon hearning the news, Joel also decides to undergo the process.
This causes a reflexivity to the story, it brings close attention to the how the story is being told and how it should be interpreted. We can only know a little about their relationship because we are only hearing through Joel's thoughts. The audience and Joel visit his memories of Clementine together as they are being erased. The film follows a non-linear temporal structure, since the audience are unaware where the film is going to take us. The narratives conflict occurs when Joel is in the middle of the memory wiping procedure and realizes he wants to hold onto his memories of Clementine.
The story is told in Melody's point of view. Melody is a 12-year-old girl who has a photographic memory. But has one huge problem, she has cerebral palsy. Cerebral Palsy is a disorder where you can't move, can't write, and most importantly, can't talk. So all of Melody's thoughts were stuck inside her head, and she could not explain to anyone how smart
Eliza blinked open her eyes and looked around. She was in a bed, it’s wooden posts carved to tight perfection. She looked up, strangely, the ceiling was made up of what seemed to be golden tree branches, laced together so thickly, it seemed that no light could get through, and none did besides the light that came in through the sides of the building, which didn’t have any walls. Then, reality hit her. Where the heck was she? All she remembered was suddenly disappearing from the lake and ending up in the forest from her dream, completely dry. Was she dead? That was the only logical answer for what was going on, but somehow it didn’t seem that way to her. Everything around her felt…well…mortal. She heard a slight gasp to her left and turned to look at where the noise had come from.
Gracie lives in Washington State with her Aunt Shay and cousin Diego. Her father deserted her when she was a young girl, and her mother was killed a year and a half ago. She makes no effort to listen to her “best friend” Emily, and that’s one of the reasons Gracie feels bad when Emily disappears. Another reason is because Gracie has premonitions. They’ve been with her since before her mother died. She never knows if she is seeing the past, the present, or the future. But she did see Emily. Gracie did not know where or when the premonition took place, but she felt the fear in Emily’s body. No news of Emily’s disappearance goes on for days, but as the days go on, Gracie sees a premonition here and there. A waterfall here, a passing light there, but they make no sense. Gracie goes to a computer camp where Emily was supposed to register. She has a feeling that there is some sort of connection with the camp because another girl disappeared who was a member of it. She sees more premonitions, but all they do is confuse her even more than she already is. One premonition shows her that another girl is going to be kidnapped at a park. Gracie convinces her cousin to take her there. Dora, a girl from the camp, is the girl from her vision. She tells her she is psychic and she has to leave the park before she is kidnapped. Dora leaves, and the head of the camp, Jonah Castle, believes that Gracie is Dora. Gracie plays along and she is led to a boat. She knows that somewhere in her visions, there was a boat. She feels close, and she doesn’t pick up any bad reading from Jonah. When they get to the boat, she runs on to find out that she is being kidnapped. Gracie had not seen Dora in her vision. She has seen herself. Jonah soon comes and explains his way of taking underprivileged children and putting them together in a secluded home. It has every essential a child could want, but the children are taken from their normal lives. Inside the house, she finds Emily, along with other children. Gracie soon realizes that there is no hope of escaping. And she’s the only one who cares. Gracie quickly becomes a favorite of Jonah.
Suddenly she felt a touSH on her arm, but quick jerking aroND she saw only the menacing shadows brought by the luminous lightning striking in the night sky. As she turned back to the window the cold ghostly apparition of a small girl stood on the porch. Jenny blinked quickly ,but she was still there motioning for her to come outside. Jenny closed her eyes in horror, and reluctantly opened them again to see no one there. She could not contain her curiosity and softly walked to open the door and slowly walked outside to search for this child who seemed to need her so
