Fishing is one of my favorite hobbies for the uncertainty and excitement it brings to me. It was a cold morning in the month of June we began our journey. My family and I embark on our trip to go on a fishing trip to Iowa City. Once we arrived there, I can remember the brisk breeze blowing against my face. I could see the cheerful sun rising and greeting everything it could touch with its rays. The air smells like Spring time fresh grass and crisp lake water. I could hear the leaves shaking and the loud whistling of the wind. The peaceful lake was like a mirror reflecting everything it saw. I pull out my fishing reel and I open the container holding the squeamish worms. The smell of the container was terrible like a wet dog. I could taste the terrible odor of the damp mud. The worms felt like slime slithering through my hand. Hooking the worm for the first time was hard and felt like a miniature snake trying to pry itself away from me. …show more content…
I could feel my hand gripping the new metal handle very tightly. I stare cautiously at my bobber for any sudden movements. The sound of fish splashing through the water was in the background of my mind. Being right on the shore I could smell the murky water surrounding me. As I watch my bobber like a hawk, I notice it begins to jerk away from me. My hands clinch the cold metal handle so tight my knuckles turn pale. I began tugging my reel to toy with the fish like a baby with keys. The fish had the strength of a shark pulling away from
The goal in those days was to catch a double. (God! don't times change - now you're nobody until you've had a 40!) I was being pestered by bream that night, and had already landed two of quite reasonable size. What with that, the full moon, and the wind rattling the trees and bushes, I was having great difficulty in getting any sleep - which was crucial as I had to go to work the next day. It was one of those spooky nights, and each time I closed my eyes I was forced to open them again to investigate a sound which just may have been something nasty! But virtually on the stroke of midnight the wind suddenly dropped, and all the clouds cleared away from the moon. The lake went flat calm, and it was obvious something was about to happen. I sat up on the bedchair a little frightened. Out in the lake a carp rolled over the bait. It was so light I could tell it was a common, and it looked quite big. The whole scene was so weird and dreamlike I really did pinch myself to see if I was awake. I was, and became even more so when I heard the slight click of the contacts coming together on the bite alarm, followed by the weary buzzing of the bell - a noise both horrible and exciting. I struck with little enthusiasm, expecting another bream. It soon became apparent that this was not a bream, and after a long and thrilling fight on my old cane Sealey octofloat I was opening the folds of the
My first fishing experience was with my dad and my older brother when I was seven. Driving up to the creek, walking through the muddy path on the twisting dirt road. I could feel my dad’s pride
A fisherman is defined as any person, who fishes for either a profit or pleasure, but being a fisherman means much more than that (Dictionary). It is a way of life, and it is a practice that takes place in cultures all around the world. Depending on where one is located, fishing is either looked at as a necessity for survival, can be considered a sport, or even viewed as a hobby. In some cultures, it can be considered a great stress reliever after a long, hard day at work. Since fishing is such a broad subject, I would like to narrow my focus on recreational fishing (in a boat) in south Louisiana.
The paddle back was much more strenuous than the paddle there, as this. time we had to fight against the current. But something, I don't know. what, probably adrenaline, kept us moving on. It felt as though my arms were going to fall off, but all the time, I kept thinking to myself.
Fishing tests your patience; if you want to catch a fish, you’re going to have to wait. I dip my feet into the icy water of the river and wait, wait, wait. I feel relaxed, surrounded by nature, but the air around me is also buzzing with the excitement. Goats graze on the grass that grows atop the rocky cliff across from me, and a gentle breeze whispers through the ivy that drapes over it. My hands are gripped tightly around my rod, ready to reel up my first catch, ready for the weight of a monster fish, ready for anything. Out of nowhere, I feel the slightest tug on my line and see a flash of rainbow scales beneath the water. I see my fishing rod bending with weight, which could mean only one thing: FISH ON! I begin to reel it in, inch by inch. The trout flies out of the water, glistening as the setting sun reflects off of its scales. The sky is ablaze, full of different shades of magenta, orange, and scarlet. It was as if an artist had painted the sky with the skillful strokes of their paintbrush. I hear my parents gasp with awe behind me. The first
Fishing Relieves Stress https://www.motherearthnews.com/homesteading-and-livestock/fishing-as-a-stress-reliever One of my favorite memories fishing is when my little cousin caught his own fishing pole he had lost two years ago. There is many types of way to fish. Like deep sea fishing and dock fishing. I have never been deep sea fishing but want to go sometime.
The feeling of warmth and comfort transcends upon me with fond memories of family gatherings around this great lake in Louisiana. Memories that will change from this day forward. Today, as I gaze out unto the Lake, I see this body of water as something totally different; I see my grandfather’s love. I will miss our stars and stripes swimsuits, the flag adorned dock, the red, white and blue party barge and the twinkle lights in the trees. I will miss the smell of barbeque and beer, watermelon and apple pie. I will miss the loud music and dancing, along with tubing and water skiing. I will miss the huge sunset, the chirping cricket and the festive fireworks. This tradition allowed my family from all over Louisiana to know each other and appreciate our Louisiana heritage. Having these incredible memories make Lake D'arbonne my favorite place on earth.
Many people have many different activities that they are passionate about, and Mine is fishing. there is nothing like being able to wake up and roll out of a bed that feels like it's made of clouds to have your morning coffee, and get ready for the very exciting day you have ahead of you. I got ready for the day by putting on my denali rods fishing jersey and my columbia Performance Fishing Gear fishing pants along with my Costa Sunglasses. I pulled up at the lake in my Charcoal Gray ¾ ton chevrolet 2500HD pick-up truck and seen the sun peeking vibrantly over the horizon. I lined my royal blue Ranger Bass Boat sitting on my Royal blue ranger trail trailer up with the very first boat ramp at lake ok’hissa. As i backed my ranger boat with an evinrude 250 HO e-tec G2 on it into the lake i noticed the beauty that God had blessed me with that morning as i seen that the lake looked as if it was made of glass.
People are encouraged to try fishing all across the United States, whether it be through friends or local events. The way I discovered fishing was through a local festival called the Best Friends Festival. It is an event for kids that takes place for a week in the summer, and one of the annual activities is fishing. I was a young child then, so I of course wanted to try everything I could in the summer. Although the Best Friends Festival does have a day for kids to fish, most kids seem to think that it would be boring. For this reason, the people that run the event do a giveaway to encourage kids to try something new. It was that first year that I tried fishing that I won a $40 fishing pole. I still have that pole to this day, and it happens to be my favorite one to fish with. The amazing part of fishing is that one doesn’t have to be ‘good’ at it. There is no true way to be good at fishing, due to the fact that different types of fish prefer different types of bait over others. It’s all just an experiment to see what one can catch, whether they strike it big or not. In the state of Virginia, there are very simple requirements to fish legally. All one must do is present an ID at the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and ask for a fishing license.
To numerous people, the outdoors provide enjoyment through plenty of hobbies. The diversity of things to do outdoors is endless. One of the more widely performed outdoor hobby is fishing.
Freezing cold, I walk up the beach in my red windbreaker. Me and my friend Mack are carrying the huge racing sail bag onto the transport raft to be brought to our boat for the biggest race of the year, Smug Cup. Our crew consists of another kid from my cabin, Elling, who bribed us to take him on our boat with Norwegian chocolate and our cabin’s counselor Jean, from France. The sun was setting quickly so we quickly boarded the boat, and I could already foretell a cold night coming from the darkness and clouds ahead. All day I had been out on the water, from sailing in the morning and windsurfing in the bitter cold lake in the afternoon. We raised the sails and got to the starting line then BOOM! The gun goes off to signal go and we fight for positioning. The wind blowing on our faces nearly blinds us, but I continue to steer and direct the boat around other competitors.
I have two firearms because if one firearm breaks I have a backup and I can also fire from to angles. I have two axes Incase some break and to chop down different trees at the same time. I have one horse so there can be travel and the horse can help with bringing in fish, water, and even food. I brought pots, pans, and a stove to cook and boil water. I brought cloth to make extra clothes. I brought three shovels for farming and Incase some break. I brought three things of fishing gear so that I can have more people fishing for a chance to get more fish. I brought two plows so I can work on two fields at the same time. I brought five packages of seeds so I have enough seeds for each season. I brought ten ropes so that I can tie together
A screaming came across the sky. We were falling, falling so fast no one had even a second to react. The only thing I could hear was the sound of muffled screams of terror, fighting against the wind. The aircraft suddenly jolted forward. “Good,” I thought,” The engines must be working.”
Driving was the hardest part, anticipation and undisguised excitement pressed hard against the edges of the car door. The sight of the river was embarrassed with welcome ecstasy. Sighting the pristine waters offered no challenge or apprehension of the event that were to come. Stepping out of the car was slightly overwhelming at first but soon the pine and algae became a sweet aroma. Within five minutes we were by the shore the older two were splashing around in the water like silly otter people. Soon they began to wade deeper and deeper into the water. I wasn't a strong swimmer, instead entertained myself by hopping from stone to stone. My goal was a large boulder on the other side of the river, I reached it within minutes. Gently I lowered my legs into the crisp water, dangling them until my sun-kissed skin began to cool.
The hobby of fish keeping is very large and is popular in the United States. It has expanded rapidly over the past half century, with millions of hobbyists worldwide. The hobby can be divided into two specific areas depending on the type of water the fish originate from. The two basic and most popular areas are freshwater and saltwater fishkeeping. It is important to understand the differences between the two types of the aquarium trade because they are vastly different. Saltwater species and conservation issues involve many international aspects because these fish come from many different reefs around the world. A good amount of attention has been given to the impact of the trade on coral reef fish since most marine fishes are wild-caught. The marine aquaria trade also requires high impact collecting methods such as cyanide use. On the other hand, freshwater aquarium species come from major lakes and rivers. Some major areas of study are Lake Victoria and the Amazon River Basin.
