When creating a marathon poster, as with many event posters, you need to make sure it is informative while still being appealing. The interesting thing with this theme is that with this kind of event, you need to make sure you get the correct message across and make people sign up for it rather than persistently asking. Posters for marathon running are often very different to other posters used to advertise events; something like a festival a poster might show something that would entice the customer because a festival is a positive experience, but for running you would need to try and persuade participants to put themselves through pain and suffering to do the race. These posters are interesting because they make you want to do the race despite its difficulty. They want the runners to have a positive experience so then they will do the race again. Running posters are …show more content…
With running people didn’t really know how to advertise a race because they didn’t know how to make someone sign up just to get in pain. Within this research you will learn how people actually advertised the events and you will see how running has transformed into one of the biggest sports in the world.
Running has become very popular within the last couple of decades and from this more and more races are popping up every day .Back in the 1980’s however running was very different. The form of running has changed dramatically since the eighties and so have the clothes we wear for the sport. In the 1980’s Britain dominated middle distance running at global level . In this poster from the 80’s you can see a lot of colour. The poster also shows a line drawing of people running along the beach
They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares" (603). This quotation shows that running is not always competition, but it helps runners overcome their

Track and field-style events are among the oldest of all sporting competitions, as running, jumping and throwing are natural and universal forms of human physical expression. The first recorded examples of organized track and field events at a sports festival are the Ancient Olympic Games. At the first Games in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece, and only one event was contested which was the stadion footrace. We have track athletes to distinguish who is the best athlete for the event in which they are competing in and the athletes can be distinguished from high school, college, and even countries. All tracks athletes come in different shape and sizes, but one thing they
Running in a girl’s cross country meet isn’t as easy as it sounds, but with a little experience and help it can become a better experience. The first thing everyone does is line up on a spray painted line in the grass. Before the race even starts the race official tells us the rules and counts everyone that is running. He also tells us about any big holes or ditches that we may encounter in our 2 mile journey.
The Olympics are supposed to be a time of peace and a time where countries could come together and be free from politics. The Olympics are also a time where nations should put away their differences and celebrate the reason why they came to participate in the games, which was to play sports. Throughout history, many of the Olympics have lived up to this expectation. At the same time, there have also been some Olympics that have not lived up to this expectation because they have been experienced boycotts, political protests, and even violence. The politics in the Olympics need to be kept out because it there is no place for it. The 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow is an example of one Olympics that was not free from politics because of the boycott started by the U.S.
In the world of the multi-billion dollar racing industry, it is important for those involved to understand the factors that will determine successful racehorses. Racing supports people in their livelihoods, and successful horses result in a lot of money. Although it is universally accepted that the greatest factors that result in success for racehorses are breeding and training, I argue that other factors, such as experience, timing, and luck play a big role in their success as well.
Remember when you were an eight-year-old kid, running through the woods. Remember the feeling of absolute freedom as you felt the wind in your hair. Most women stopped running around that age, but, Bobbi Gibb was one of the few women to not let the pressure of society stop her from doing what she loved. On April 19, 1966, Bobbi Gibb was the first woman to unofficially run the Boston Marathon. After witnessing the 1964 Boston Marathon, Bobbi recognized a familiar passion for running in the athletes. Bobbi decided she too wanted to participate in this extreme challenge. But, because running was a male-dominated sport, and Bobbi was the first woman to penetrate this field, she faced some challenges. When Bobbi applied for the race, she was denied entry. The Ameteur Athletic Union aka the (AAU) did not believe
Over the course of time. Street racing has been allowed in the main streets or highways with minimal surveillance or any consequences at all. It almost seemed like no one was taking action in what escalated into a huge problem this year of 2017. Luckily there is various ways to help minimize the negative affects it's having in these communities. A solution to what continues to concern many can be treated as a crime. As humans we know what's right from wrong and people tend to avoid situations that can be considered a crime. The seriousness of the consequences is what everyone fears, no one wants to have a bad record, they want to be “clean.”Another way this rebellious act can continue to decrease is by having strict life changing consequences, example if you get caught street racing then you will be charged with a conviction similar to a Dui.
A. Attention getter: In 2011 my friends and I decided to run for fun and also train for the upcoming 2012 Los Angeles Marathon. There were over 22,000 participants from all over the world running that day.

Wanna run?” and the main actor in the commercial throws his popsicle away and pulls out Nike shoes, shorts, and then takes off his sweater to reveal, you guessed it, a Nike tank top. Along with the kid being in all his Nike gear, the other kids are playing in their Nike gear as well along with a Nike basketball. So in less than ten seconds, we’ve already seen that Nike is dominant in the basketball field by the use of their products in the sport. The ball winds up rolling in the street, where a 10k run is about to take place. The race starts and a running team asks him once again, “Hey kid, we’re short a guy. Wanna run?” and the kid just throws on his Nike running gear, he takes off his basketball shoes and throws on some Nike running shoes and his Nike running attire and proceeds to join in on the race, This scene alone presents the viewer with an absurd amount of Nike product placement as seen below. You can see that Nike is sponsoring this 10k Summer Sun Run, due to the Nike logos on the start sign and also along the street that probably extends to the finish line. It also appears that every runner has on their Nike gear as well, once again showing that Nike is also very dominant in the running
Running may be one of the oldest and most developed sports out there. According to legend, the first marathon was run unintentionally in 490 B.C. by a Greek Soldier(James). The soldier ran twenty-five miles to Athens to announce battleground victory over the persians then dropped dead(James). In 1896 the marathon was included in the Olympic games, in Greece, for the first time(James). It was there that the first gold was won by a Greek runner with a time of two hours fifty-eight minutes and fifty seconds(James). The current world record for the fastest finish is two hours three minutes and fifty-nine seconds(James). Marathoning has turned into a world wide activity and every person who participates must endure intense training.
The Olympic Games. The biggest international sports competition in which the worlds’ best athletes compete from all around the world to win medals for their countries. The Olympics have been a worldwide tradition since the eighth century BC, but it has hardly benefited us as a species. Every time we have the Games, our resources are abused in order to create the Olympics we desire. Huge amounts of money are used to build venues and make medals, only leading up to the countries who host the Games going into debt afterwards. There are only rare cases in which the countries earn money from hosting the Olympics, but most of the time the debt that they get themselves into take years, or even decades to pay off. You might ask yourself, why do we even host the Olympics, if it has these huge disadvantages? The answer is because we want pride for our countries, no matter how temporary it is. Knowing this, we can safely say, that the Olympic Games do not help us grow as a species.
Athletics were of immense importance to the Greeks. The first Olympic Games were made up of only foot races and later through the centuries expanded to include wrestling, javelin hurling, discus throwing, boxing, jumping, chariot racing, horse riding, the pankration and the pentathlon. The period of competition gradually expanded to five days and the festivals to one month. The foot races included four types of racing. The stadion was the oldest event in which runners sprinted for 192 meters or 1 strade. The 2-strade race was 384 meters and long distance running ranged from 1,344 to 4,608 meters (7-24 strades). Ancient Greece also had a 2-4 strade race by athletes in 50-60 pound...
