Creating a decoy or cover story for my adversary would lead them away from the truth of my intentions or mission. My strategy needs to be coherent by having an advanced plan in mind to achieve my objectives. My plan should be able to anticipate how my target will behave before I use deception to get my outcome. If I know how my target behaves, I need to find out and should be able to know how it will react to both a successful or unsuccessful deception. This is no small task because if the target is big, it will require a higher level of coordinated actions from different agencies and departments. My second deceptive strategy will rely on understanding the culture of my adversary. Understanding their perception in many facets including bureaucratic

One of the last types of ways investigators are coached to detect deception is in the behavioral attitudes of a person being interviewed such as being unconcerned or over anxious (Kassin, 2005). The success rate of looking for these cues are very successful in telling if an individual is being deceitful and has surpassed any laboratory tests conducted on the subject. The laboratory test however did reveal some interesting facts. The research showed that people who had training and experience did not score better than the control group who received no training. In fact all individuals scored at the chance level with the people who had training scored just above chance or at the chance level. To check if special training in the detection of deception was more accurate a study ...

What makes artifice such an essential skill? In the excerpt from Empire of Illusion by Chris Hedges, it is argued that “the most essential skill… is artifice.” Artifice, the act of deceiving people, can be very useful when you want more power or popularity in the world. Many widely known people use artifice to stay rich, popular, and in power. However, artifice isn’t so essential that everybody needs to be a faker in order to succeed.

The use of covert operations could very well reduce the risk of conflict and enhance international security. A covert operation is an operation that is planned in secrecy and usually denied by the sponsor of the operation. Countries, like the United States, should use covert operations more because it accomplishes national interests, while also reducing the risk of further conflicts, which then enhances the international security of the world.
Leaders today need to have an appreciation for the operation process, understand a situation, envision a desired future, and to lay out an approach that will achieve that future (Flynn & Schrankel, 2013). Plans need to be created that can be modified to changes in any factors considered. However, plans should not be dependent on specific information being precise or that require things to go exactly according to schedule. Instead, the staff NCO should be flexible where they can and always be prepared for the unexpected. Today’s military members are fighting an unconventional war in Iraq and Afghanistan. The enemy constantly changes their tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP’s) to counter the United States technological advances, making planning very difficult for leaders. There are multiple tools at a staff NCO’s disposal to try to anticipate an outcome of a current operation, but also assist with the development of concepts in follow-on missions. The Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) is just one tool a staff NCO can utilize. In order to stay ahead of the enemy, create effective plans and orders, it is critical for a staff NCO to assist the commander, and understand that the MDMP and planning are essential in defeating the enemy and conserving the fighting force.

In this field there really are matters of life and death, which could be affected by deceit. Passive deception is mainly a problem because there is currently no way to determine whether the omission is an innocent or deceitful one. Furthermore, the determinants of deception which I presented have a great many flaws. These include the question of importance, which varies from person to person, and the question of what percentage of likelihood is substantial enough to require information to be given. Without the proper ways of classifying passive deception it will continue to pose problems in the healthcare field, in daily interactions, and in the other sectors of
