How To Show Courage
Courage means a lot of things someone who is brave. A person able to try something new and be able to achieve it. Courage also means having a strong spirit to face situations. I rushed to the scene a kid was stuck in a flipped car I tried to help. There’s also types of courage for example, physical and emotional.
William, Teresa, Corey, and Moonface teach the reader that to be courageous means using fear or being brave to create opportunities out of situations.
In the story “Moonface” by Richard Keens- Douglas Moonface shows Courage by being honest to his friend when he was sick telling him the truth. At first he was afraid because of his past experience with friends. He had a hard time accepting fate. It is stated “Because he never told his friend that he was sick...you see I'm going to die. I have an illness that there is no cure… I know you're ill”(14). In the story “The Kayak” by Debbie Spring Teresa

Corey attempted to help the young people suffering he was doing an act of courage if Corey didn’t show his courage the people could of died or suffer. It is stated “They stopped to help… WIthout hesitation, Corey climbed down the cliff”(7). In the article “William Windmill” by Elizabeth MacLeod, William is courageous because he was able to make a windmill. William had the courage to create a windmill from a book called “Using Energy” by MacMillan McGraw Hill. How he was courageous is that people would put him down like his mom calling him crazy, but that didn’t make William stop what he was doing. It is stated “ There he found a book called “using energy” … When I was making [ the windmill], all these people were mocking me… Finally the windmill was down”(16). These characters show how to be brave they give efforts to make their situation
In the book Unlikely Warrior by Georg Rauch the main character Georg shows bravery in the face of adversity many times. One example of him showing bravery is on page 217"that night, the following day, and the next night we spent in the fields near a small creek....I rested with my foot propped up high as much as possible. I had a fever and felt miserable." As a reader this shows me that even though he is sick, wounded, and not feeling the greatest. He is taking on that Bravery to go somewhere that may get them shot by their enemies.I also thought as a reader Georg has a lot of courage, and bravery to keep on going moreover and further each day and not to be a laggard like most of the soldiers are.Another example is on page 57 paragraph 1 "I was
Mark Twain best described courage when he said that, “Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear” (Twain). Both in The One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey and Watership Down by Richard Adams, the authors deal with the topic of courage and each share a similar view on it as this quote. Indeed, both authors suggest that courage is not accumulated simply by acts of heroism, but rather by overcoming fears and speaking one’s mind as well. These books are very similar in the way that bravery is displayed through the characters in an uncommon way. Firstly, an example of bravery
An example of courage, as the judgment that something else is more important than fear, is through the character of Kak in B for Buster by Iain Lawrence. In this novel, Kak is characterized as a young, determined boy, desiring to turn himself from a comic book reading boy into a World War II hero. Planning to escape his drunken, abusive father, Kak enlists himself in the Canadian Air Force although he is underage and only sixteen years old. During his first mission, he is becomes frightened of the risk of not coming home alive, but doesn?t show his emotions because of his austere, intrepid crewmen. During this mission, Kak did not have an absence of fear, but he felt that becoming a hero like the ones in his comic book, and accomplishing his dream of fly, was more important than his fear of dying.
According to Google.com courage says “The ability to do some things that frighten one (Noun) Mr. Frank showed courage by letting the Van Daans in the Secret Annex and Mr.Dussel too. Another way he showed courage was when a robber broke into the shop where the Annex was above,
One of the stories Will tells about his past is of his mother’s death. This event was obviously very traumatic for Will and one of the largest shadows he’s ever endured. The fact that Will was away in Toronto when his mother passed away has left him with a lingering regret, even though it wasn’t possible for him to have known that she was sick. Will’s brother James, recounting to Will some of what their mother talked about on her deathbed, mentions a vacation that the three of them took to Lake Pokagon. In this story, Will remembers that his mother chose to rent a row-boat instead of a canoe because “a row-boat was safer” (233). The irony strikes the reader when their row-boat collides with a rock and springs a leak, causing the children to fear for their lives. In the more current contrasted story, Harlen and Luise convince Will to purchase a canoe so that they can all go boating together. In the inaugural trip, though, the canoe began to take on water. After Harlen urges him to start bailing water, Will realizes that “[they] didn’t have anything to bail with” (235), and soon, t...

One of the best explanations of courage is the following by Maya Angelou: “One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtues with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.” Her explanation summarizes all that courage can lead you to who you are in life. Courage is standing up for what you believe in, despite disapproval, pain, fear, uncertainty, or intimidation. Courage is challenging what is normal. Courage is giving voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. Courage is using whatever power available to educate the world about injustice. Courage is following your heart even when the path is not known. Courage is trying after failing.
Courage is the thing which can be found in a child to an old man. It needs a lot of courage to take out courage from the heart. It is like a brain. It depends on the person, how and when he uses it. This tiny word has the power to convey the whole gesture of a person. According to Harper Lee?s genius ?To Kill a Mockingbird?, Courage is when you know you are licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through it through no matter what.
“Courage - a perfect sensibility of the measure of danger, and a mental willingness to endure it.” Courageous people understand the danger that they face when they act how they do. That is what courage is all about. Many historical events occur due to people having the courage to do what they think is right, or because of those who use their courage to do what they want. Having the courage to stand alone in one’s beliefs may be one of the hardest thing a person can do.
Has anyone ever shown bravery in your life? Bravery is someone who’s not afraid to step up to the challenge, Like in the book The Hobbit Bilbo shows that quite a few times, and an article about a cop saving his partner. Bravery is someone who has courage and is not afraid of something others might be afraid of , anyone can be brave and it can happen when you least expect it.
Bravery is a behavior of courage or even a character who has the audacity to risk their own life. A great example would be the Disney movie Moana. Which is about a girl name Moana who leaves her homeland to sail across the ocean with Maui, a demigod, to bring the heart of Te Fiti back where it belongs. Moana is a perfect example of bravery because she risks her own life to sail through the massive ocean even if there are monsters just waiting to hurt her. While sailing, Moana goes through a dangerous journey and meets Kakamoras that attack her boat.
Courage is a strong word, feeling and thought. It is grace under pressure. Courage is doing something that is discomforting to make others better. It is having mental strength and doing something you never thought could be done. Courage is a trait, a trait hard to show for it looks different for everyone. In To Kill a Mockingbird, you can see courage through the actions of Atticus Finch, Mrs. Dubose and Boo Radley because they all did something that was out of their comfort zone. They are faced with a challenge and they accept it for what it is. They do not hide away when they face problems or bumps on the road.
At any one point in time life could take a twist, and the only way out of the hard times life goes afterwards; is by asking for help, which takes courage. The book “Speak” written by Laurie Halse Anderson, follows the High School life of Melinda Soreno, and she is struggling with showing courage. Her life is perfect until one late night party, and now she keeps a secret inside of her that she needs to get out. Courage can be admitting to something you’ve done, or call someone for help; it could also be helping another realize that they need to defend themself against their aggressors. It is scary for someone to admit that they are facing issues, that they are not thinking straight.
Courage is a state of mind that enables a person to overcome fear, pain, danger, or hardship. Although different from one another, all aspects of courage involve taking risks.
