Upon being faced with adversity many individuals are prone to shutting down but true strength derives from the ability to become stronger from obstacles in your path and how you develop them into opportunities. Throughout a person’s lifespan, an individual will always be confronted with hard and difficult obstacles that they must overcome such as the divorce of parents, the death of a loved one, or even relocating homes. People should try to approach these obstructions with open arms and try to learn how to become better individuals from it and not just try to get over it. I believe that everybody should try to face their obstacles in their life slowly and accumulatively, starting from the smallest problem in their life and end up ultimately being able to overcome very and difficult obstacles in the …show more content…
Throughout the advancement of the story’s plot, the character can choose to have these opportunities help them become better individuals. Usually by the climax of the story, the character would have become a completely different individual. This plot development allows for many of them to become a stronger hero or protagonist for the story. Edmond Dantès, in the novel The Count of Monte Cristo, used all of the obstructions in his goals he was presented with and made them all into opportunities. When he was put onto the island for criminals, he chose to learn from the priest and become a well-knowledged and intelligent individual. Edmond also decided to help those that were nice to him, instead of turning his back on them, making his ultimate goal easier to accomplish. Stories have two stereotypes of characters, a dynamic and a static character. Most people should strive to be a dynamic character by changing and constantly adapting to what is happening around them, this is due the hindrances in our life and if we choose to grow from it or

... front of me since the road to success is far away. Facing unknown obstacles is like drowning in water because obstacles are weighted heavily and sometimes I can't lift it. I just have to use my strength and hopefully, I can raise it off me. I learned that sometimes it is better to have a little false hope than to have none. Perseverance doesn’t not come naturally to all people but eventually it will come because they will find it. It helps them find their inner self by going through obstacles so that they can be more of a life challenge. I believe that this can change a person who they are because it is something everyone needs to go through life.
The Hero’s Journey is an ancient archetype that we find throughout our modern life and also, in the world of literature.Whether metaphorical or real, the journey that a character goes on shows not only the incredible transformation of the hero but it also gives them their life meaning. It is the ultimate human experience and it reflects on every aspect of life. Take Logan, also known as Wolverine, from the X-Men movie as an example. His adventure starts with “The Call,” which is the first step of the Hero’s Journey. This step happens due to the realization of imbalance and injustice that the character has in their life. Logan steps into the first stage of the pattern but is hesitant to start his adventure because he does not know what and
Adversity can be defined as a state or instance of serious or continued difficulty or misfortune. Many things in life can bring one adversity, however some are faced with more adversity in their lives than others. Overcoming this adversity can be one of the most difficult things that a person encounters, and at times, it may consume them. People attempt to persevere through adversity in many different ways. One of the most effective ways is to keep pushing through and to never give up. If one loses sight of what is driving them to persevere through adversity, it will swallow them up with no remorse. Staying mentally tough and focused on an end goal is how people not only persevere, but thrive through adversity.
It is the challenges we face that make it look dark and gloomy. The key to a productive existence is not the emotions we feel when presented with adversity, but in our ability to overcome, grow and evolve. In comparison, examine the Spoken Indian searching for hope in hardships, or the extraordinary taste and smell of the wine connoisseur who lacks sight. See the trial & errors or the young man growing to love both parents, and the college student whose heart is blistering with pain from the loss of his mother, but finds healing in his new home as an emerging scholar. We are all exploring methods to handle
I have learned that if you believe in yourself you can do anything. Gertrude Simmons Bonnin was able to overcome so many difficult live changing obstacles only because she did not give up. I want to have her strength and courage to overcome all my problems in life I have right now, so that I can be successful in life. I am glad that I read this story so that I could have a better perspective on how hope and perseverance help you to become a stronger person. I know that I am going to see life in a different way now. I will see all my problems as a way to make me stronger by figuring out a way to overcome them. If you believe in yourself and do not give up you will be like a diamond made out of coal under good pressure (unknown
Adversity is what guides an individual towards self-discovery. “Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.” This quote relates to adversity very well. That is because when going through hardships, an individual is able to realize what he/she is capable of doing. For instance, if a student chooses full IB for high school, but later realizes that is t...
The theme of The Count of Monte Cristo is one of vengeance and forgiveness, power and powerlessness. When Dantes is unfairly given a life-prison sentence by his enemies (Villefort, Danglars, and Fernand), he spends every waking moment planning his revenge. As soon as Dantes miraculously escapes and returns to the world with riches, he sees it as a sign that God has opened for him the door of revenge.

Around 80% of the teens, who wake up in the morning, spend their breakfast hours plotting revenge against their enemies. Additionally, many of the people on Earth have many enemies and would like to take revenge. In the Count of Monte Cristo, Edmond Dantes takes a long, slow, and painful revenge versus his foes. Revenge is the universal idea of retaliation or retribution against a person, group, or society.
“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” – Mahatma Gandhi Adversity, can be a breaking point in one’s life, some use it is as fuel, others use it as an excuse, either way each and everyone of us must confront it during our lifetime. It is those of us who stand up to the challenge and use our troubles to build strength, that will succeed through times of difficulty. Those who overcome adversity build character. The challenge however, is to understand a way to deal with hardships, and triumph through times of toughness. Many have hurdled the obstacles of adversity, they do it through hard work, perseverance
Many people believe that not everyone is capable of loving and changing who they are. However with some people, they see good in everyone, even in the darkest, most evil people. In the book The Count of Monte Cristo, hatred is seen throughout the novel and many people overlook the concept of love being a theme. Although many people believe love is not truly present in this novel, I believe it is because Mercedes and Dante's’ feelings remained for a long time, Maximilien believed he couldn’t live without Valentine, and Haydee’s love starts to turn the Count back to how he was before imprisonment.
When we humans are stronger we can face more. When we are at a workplace and have to face a problem or obstacle we can face harder tasks and take on more responsibility because we have learned from our obstacles. In a family when we face an obstacle we use the obstacle and overcome it. We grow closer because we have gone through an obstacle together. “Life is like a mountain hard to climb but once you get to the top the view is beautiful.” This quote by Daniel Tuttle has a general meaning expressing that life is like a mountain which means we humans have to climb over obstacles. The view at the top is once we have became stronger and overcome the obstacle we
Throughout life we are all faced with many hardships. Some we may have control over, others not so much. Although I’m only 17, I have experienced many during my life. Some bigger than others. To me, the hardships and difficulties that come our way leave us with two options. To let life grab you buy the foot and drag you until you can no longer get up. Or, you show life that despite the challenges it throws to you, you will always come out stronger than you were before. And I will never let myself live a life where I follow option one.
