The Cost and Benefits of Going to College
College is important to large amounts of people. As many know, attending college can help better a single person’s life in more ways than one. For example, by attending college and graduating with a degree of one’s choice improves their knowledge in that field of choice. Everyone that has earned a degree has made many choices to get where they are today. There is a process in making these decisions. The decision of deciding, which degree to earn is the first step to changing one’ life.
SUBJECT OF CHOICE The first step of deciding which subject is important. When I decided to attend college I had a career choice decided, but began to have second thoughts. The decision process for me took longer than I expected. I finally came to a decision after two years of college. I decided to earn a degree in Office Administrative Services.

First, is the college I would be looking offer the degree I am interested in. The choice would be a waste of time if the degree was not offered. Second, will the location benefit me and where I currently live. Driving several hours to college is not a good idea, if something is closer. Students these days need to be able to put effort and time in their school work. You should be wanting to get your degree. College cannot be bought it is how you value your education. The value of education is based on the student’s actions. The author stated, “the decision to go to college is a decision to make an investment in their future, and investment of time and money.” The investment is to factor the value of courses to students.
Deciding whether or not you want to attend college is definitely a tough decision that needs to be taken seriously. The financial aspect of college is always the worst and most dreaded part, but it is many times the biggest deciding factor on which school you actually attend. Students suffer a lot from the debts that they get from college and also the amount of studying that they do in college and when they graduate they ask themselves “is graduation from college really worth all the money that we paid and all the work that we have done?”
The critical challenge within in today’s society is that college tuition should be free or if not free, more affordable for all students. This report looks at college from the prospective of adults who have not attended college but are considering obtaining a degree. The research results give several statistics related to adults wishing to continue their education and the main concerns that they face in doing so. They mentioned many of the factors that influence adults’ decisions to pursue a post-secondary education and how they will pursue that education. Facts presented in this report show that many people wish that they could further their education. This report will allow me to broaden my viewpoint by not only viewing college’s worth to students recently graduated from high school but also to older adults seeking to return to college.
