For as long as I can remember, people have asked me a series of questions. What do you want to do when you grow up, what career path are you leaning toward, and why is that what you want to do with your life? When I was younger I always answered with, “I want to be a famous singer because I love to sing, duh.” (even though I wasn’t good at all). As I got older I knew that was unrealistic and I needed to come up with a job I could actually make happen. After changing my mind to many times to count, I finally chose one that I believe best suits me, a cosmetologist.

I decided to go to cosmetology school a couple months ago while my sister was in school to be a nail technician. I would always go into her school, Nicholas Jay at the time, and get my hair and nails done. People everywhere go and get their hair or nails done, or even get waxes. No matter how far into the future you look, technology will never take over this job. You can always keep moving up after you graduate, meaning you can get a job at a salon, become a teacher at a school and even own a salon. It pays pretty well depending on what salon you work at, and how much you charge for certain things. Businesses charge more for things which typically make the tips better. People usually think that the higher the price, the higher they are supposed to tip. “Cosmetologists who have developed a large client list and work at a popular salon can make a lot of money. Furthermore, they often have the flexibility to work the hours that they want, which can create a great work/life balance.” (Evergreen Beauty College).
