Introduction
Every person experiences varying amounts of racism in their lifetime. For those who experience racism first hand, it can be hard to deal with. Coping with racism is something that each person handles differently. Some people choose to ignore it, and others choose to fight it. Of the various methods for coping with racism, humor can be a very effective method in dealing with the stresses caused by racism.
Theory
Racism, at its roots, is a conflict between different races. The Conflict Paradigm pits individuals against each other in the struggle to obtain superiority. Reasons being people automatically assume people are discriminating against people based on the color of their skin, their ethnicity or the color of their skin. Discrimination, while prejudice refers to biased thinking, discrimination consists of actions against a group of people. Discrimination can be based on race, age, religion, health and other indicators. It is also considered discrimination when acts are preformed against a certain group of people (Citation). People are more likely to discriminate against somebody more than they would any other type of racist act because people do it without thinking about it. While there are people in this world who purposely attack someone based on their personal preferences, people tend to keep their discriminatory comments to themselves for the most part; due to the fact they don’t want to cause trouble. While there are many words that come to mind when it comes to discrimination, the word status seems to mind. Status is the responsibilities and duties a person experiences due to rank or position. People who feel they have high power over someone else tends to think more on a status level. They care more about where they stand rather than who stands around them. This being one of the reasons discrimination comes into play. People who hold high power are more likely to discriminate against someone below them regardless of their position and rank in the world. …show more content…

It can be difficult to cope with this topic, but plenty of people manage to succeed at this. Most “racist” comics are in fact racist on their own, but this one is so effective because it pokes fun at racism. It also shines light on the fact that racism isn’t an act that is performed by one group of people; plenty of people from all of the races on Earth are guilty of racism. When combatting an issue, there are always plenty of conflicting methods of dealing with said issue. Whether it is with sadness, anger, hate, or plain ignorance, it seems that of the various methods for coping with racism, humor can be a very effective method in dealing with the stresses caused by
