The Cookie Catastrophe “You could’ve gotten your father and I in very big trouble” my mother yelled as she was painfully staring at me in the airport coming back to Ohio. It was spring break in third grade and we spent time in Marco Island, Florida. Being a nine-year-old kid, I didn’t know any better. I usually inferred my actions didn’t count. I was invincible. Well guess what, I wasn’t. During spring break, my family and I visited at the Marriott Hotel and Resort. In the hotel, there was a cafe. While snacking at the cafe every morning, I had been eyeing this one cookie. Of course, whenever I questioned my mother if I could have the cookie, she would reply with “no”, or “you don’t need a cookie.” This made me furious whenever she …show more content…

With my sadness, she said no. This was the final straw and made me very upset. I lingered until she was checking out at the register to place the cookie in my dress. While I was sneaking the cookie in my dress, there was a 20 year old worker who was sweeping. She watched me the entire time. However, she decided not to say anything or speak to anyone. This was more of a blessing then winning at Candy Land. While driving to the airport, we stopped at Mcdonalds for lunch. We decided to purchase our lunch, and take it to go. I decided to devour the cookie after eating our lunch, this would be easier to sneak it while my mom wasn’t looking. The cookie was a piece of art. The hard shell on the outside, and the gooeyness on the inside, even the chocolate chips dancing in my mouth. I could taste the heart and soul put into this cookie. While eating this heavenly dessert, my mother looked back to check on me and my sister. There she saw what I had done. Her face grew as red as my Mcdonalds happy meal box. She questioned in a furious tone, “Did you steal this cookie?” Now me being my nine-year-old self, I just froze, not knowing what to say, it was like staring in the eyes of medusa.
