Public transportation is a great way to get around. There is no driving to do, only relaxing. What if everyone was forced to only use public transportation though? Public transportation is transportation systems such as buses and trains that are open to the public. People should not be forced to use public transportation because it is bad for the environment, there would be too much infrastructure upgrades, and not everyone can access public transportation. Everyone using public transportation would be bad for the environment. Transportation is responsible for 15% of global CO2 emissions (Rodrigue, 2016). These CO2 emissions hurt the environment every day, and because transportation vehicles such as buses are much bigger than cars, …show more content…
As stated before, if everyone was forced to use public transportation then the transportation system would need to expand. By expanding the system, there would need to be changes to the roadway system, railway systems, and other forms of public transportation. If the infrastructure were to be upgraded and changed, then it would cause more construction. There would be construction to the roadways, railway system, and any other transportation system. These infrastructure upgrades are supposed to make our lives better, when in reality they are only a pain. Traffic would be created, gas fumes and the smell of tar would be in the air, and once again, the environment would suffer. With all of these infrastructure upgrades, there would be more changes to the areas around the transportation systems as well. Because the transportation system would need to expand, the cities and towns would need some changes as well. There would need to be space cleared for more transportation, city work or town work would be required and the city or town would be almost completely different (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2016). To clear space for transportation, buildings could be torn down. Spaces that were filled with green grass and beautiful flowers would be loud, noisy train stations or bus stops. Sidewalks and walkways would be ripped out, changing the ways that many …show more content…
Not everyone can use public transportation because it is not accessible to everyone. Most of the world's public transportation is in, or near, cities (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2016). While there are many people living in or near cities, there are some people who do not. For the people living away from the cities and in the country, it would be nearly impossible to use public transportation. They would have to walk everywhere, or walk for miles and miles just to have to pay for transportation. If using public transportation is just not an option for some people, then why would we force everyone to travel by it. It would be cruel and unfair to the people who live away from the cities to make everyone use public transportation. Not only can the country people not use public transportation, but the disabled can not use it as well. Many of the world's transportation systems are not wheelchair accessible (Shorack, 2016). This does not allow many of the disabled people around the world to use some public transportation. For a lot of disabled people and just people in wheelchairs, using public transportation would be nearly impossible. They would have to use their wheelchair to get around places which would take extremely long only to cover a short amount of distance. For the people who have to use wheelchairs, public transportation would be very hard
since car ownership is so expensive, but they may need a car because of urban sprawl and inadequate
Pollution is a major problem for all of us. People need to recognize this situation so we can start making a difference to this problem. In order to start making a difference, the federal government should increase gasoline tax by one dollar a gallon. Fifty percent of this dollar will go towards public transportation, since passenger cars and trucks are a major contribution towards air pollution, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, E.P.A (10/4, http://www.epa.gov/autoemissions/emsns.html). Due to the expected increase after this is put forth, the remaining fifty percent of the dollar will go towards safety on these transits. When public transportation increases, air pollution will decrease, which will lessen the harmful health risks towards the environment.
For now the more use are the airlines, buses, or trains. Many people use the airlines to travel to one place to another, and by building the railway it will decrease the number of people who ride the planes and it will decrease the amount of people traveling in car, too. The railway is not only going to decrease the amount of people traveling in planes, cars, or bus but it will also decrease the amount of time people take to travel in this kind of transportations. A reporter says, “Texas central is planning to build a bullet train route that cut between Dallas and Houston, Trimming about 2 hours off the average driving time, and saving over an hour compared to air travel” (“Proposed”). The railways will cut time for passengers to get to their destination but it will have a bad result later on. Some people agree on building this train because it will be faster to get to one place to another, but they are wrong because it will take costumers away from other transportations, and it will have an impact in the increase of how much each ticket cost. It will destroy land from does that live there. Researchers have found that railways benefit economies by bringing competition to transportation because people will be able to choose from all the varieties. The Researchers are wrong because airline will not have the same amount of people as they do before the high-speed train is build. Not only the airlines but bus stations because people will not notice other transportation. The airlines, the cars, and trains companies will change things from their transportations because they will want to be better than the railways. For example, technology or even the ticket prices. All they would want is to be better than the railway, causing more and more competitions, which means people will expand more on buying the transportation
It has been shown that the benefits of increased investment in the public transportation sector would apply to most, if not all, Americans. Whatever monetary costs Americans would have to meet would be met, if not completely overshadowed by the amount they would save on average. Therefore, based on the evidence available, one may conclude that it is not only necessary and proper, but also urgent to pursue an active agenda towards the increased funding and research of public transportation.
The most important advantage for nationalizing public transport is the contribution it brings to the social welfare. If run efficiently, public transport can bring great convenience with every person in the society can enjoy a convenient and pleasant journey with an affordable price, which is mostly important to people who cannot buy a car. Equality is provided to people of different status by the same access acquired by same price.
Public transportation is an essential part of a city. A good public transit can encourage a city’s economic activities and can provide its citizen a convenient life. Does our Phoenix public transit work well? Does it provide sufficient service to the citizen? From my experience, the answer is no. This November I tried to attend the popular State Fair in Phoenix. However, I found that there were not any buses or metros could take me to the fair directly. It means I need 2 hours or more spend on the public transits. As the sixth most populous city nationwide (“Phoenix Quick Fact” 1), compared with Los Angeles and other big cities in America, Phoenix’s public transportation is indeed subpar. Due to Los Angeles has 154 bus lines and 30 metros (“Schedule”), New York has 316 bus lines and 28 subways(“Maps & Timetables”), while Phoenix only has 98 bus lines, and the number of metro line is only one! (“Route Schedules & Maps”) The problem is
To begin, mass transit used to rule the city life, nobody could get around without using some form of public transportation. Now, there are many
First of the difference between public transportation and private car is convenience in travel. There are many type of transportations that people can choose to travelling such as bus and van. People can save time to go work in morning and to back when they finished working. Even though, people have to go to work in a crowded bus, people can avoid and also less traffic jams from using their own car on the road. If they go to work or somewhere by private car, they will get serious when they get stick in their car for a long time. People do not have to find parking when they go out to work or shopping. Moreover, public transportation saves environment because it helps people decrease air pollution from using private car.
Should students take advantage of the public transportation more seriously than owning a car? The public transportation can solves to numerous problems; the bus transportation can be a universal antidote for bigger issues such as global warming. By taking the bus can save students’ time and money, rather than students who have a car have deal with traffic and expensive parking fee. Students who own a car might experience sitting in such a long traffic, where during the traffic cars may produce noxious gases relieving particle of air that can contribute the affect to human health. The public transportation is the best solution for an enormous population of students, so students’ needs to get on the transit a try. The transition system in the
The use of public transits, trains and buses has become less because of the increase in the number of users using their own vehicle for transportation. The more number of vehicles on the road increases the traffic and pollution causing and consumption of more fuel that causes
During construction however, there will be more traffic than before, which could cause the buss to be slow and off schedule. However they could also use this to their advantage perhaps could discover alternate routes that help improve efficiency. To get the streetcar to expand and reach out to the community these will be problems that will have to be faced. However these are only short term problems to a long term solution. The increased reach that the streetcar will have on the community will only make it easier for people to get to where they need to
If you use public transport you spend on your journey as and when you need to travel, whereas if you own a car you are paying for it all the time, even if you are not using it, as insurance, tax and MOTs need constantly maintaining.
First of all, the difference is in the facility or convenience. Travelling on public transport could be a waste of time due to waiting for the bus especially in the rush hours’ time. It is quite hard to wait for a bus and whenever there is an urgent work and you have to reach somewhere in a hurry, you might get late due to waiting for a long period. In contrast to traveling on public transportation, driving your own car is more convenient and reliable. People can start their car and can go to anywhere that want without any wait or suffering from different kinds of problems. Going to an event or meeting can be helpful in your own car as compare to public transport as it can affect your personality.
Rail transportation is a transportation in which for movement of people and goods which from one location to another destination. Rail had been takes the important role in physical and economic development of town and cities in a country and it was developed over the world. Rail transport can be made a property value in a country increase and it must be needs improvement in transportation network expanding (Goldberg, 1970). Thus, the railway services need to be done with continuous improvement and it is important to the rail passengers of the range and quality of facilities and service on stations and trains (Gleave, S. D., 2000). The future development to a public transportation is a key to affect
The most important reason why ownership of private vehicles should not be banned is that vehicles are an essential part of modern city living. Without vehicles, a lot of inconveniences will occur. For example, people would be forced to walk quite a distance to school, in the case of students, or to other places. They need to go through the hassle of waiting for and using public transport. This can be quite the problem in rural areas where public transport is unreliable at best and can even be non-existent. According to (Jong Gatoona 2010), One reason people avoid public transport is that it wastes valuable time. When it comes to going somewhere, public transit will in most cases take more time to reach the desired destination when compared to driving there. For example, 30-40 minutes of driving will instead take 45-65 minutes when public transit is used. This estimate of course does not factor the time taken waiting for vehicles to arrive i...
