The amount of control depending on the situation can decide the decision of the outcome whether be good or bad as best told in the story “The Dinner Party “by Mona Gardner. Gardner’s story shows how control verifies differently from person to person. At the party a young lady claims that women have changed from the days of being viewed as easily frightened. The colonel speaking with her disagreed saying men have more mental control and women in dangerous situations loses their composure. The argument was not overlooked by the visiting American naturalist and their hostess who was not amused by his statement.proof? The American when he saw the bowl of milk remembered in their country of India to placing a bowl of milk is a means to lure out a snake. He quickly scanned the room for possible spots where the snake would be ^ not seeing any he concluded the only other place it would be is under the table. He knew that if he made a disruption of the party would cause chaos and allow the snake to strike. Instead he devised a game where if anyone in the table moves before the end of counting 300 seconds they will pay a penalty of fifty rupees. This allowed him to control the other guests from moving and focus on his timing to when the snake would merge. The presence of the snake under the table shows its control in the situation that if the American were to make any mistakes it will strike and decides who lives or dies. As he counted down by twenty seconds the snake merged and made a dash for the bowl of milk. The presence of it causing a massive panic. The American took that chance to run and shut the veranda doors trapping the snake outside. His self-control and mental control of both his thinking and actions saved everyone and resolved the
Carol Armstrong begins her essay by pointing out the two main points that come about when discussing A Bar at the Folies-Bergere. These two points are the social context of the painting and its representation of 19th century Paris, and the internal structure of the painting itself with the use of space. She then goes on and addresses what she will be analyzing throughout her essay. She focuses on three main points, the still life of the counter and its commodities, the mirror and its “paintedness”, and the barmaid and her “infra-thin hinge” between the countertop and the mirror.
In the book Rikki crushes all but one egg of Nagaina’s to bribe Nagaina into staying away from the kid. Rikki said, “What’sthe price for a snake’s egg? For a young cobra? For a king cobra? For the last-the very last of the brood? The ants are eating all the others by the melon bed.” Also in the book the snake flees with the egg trying to outrun Rikki. In the book it states, “He had forgotten about the egg. It lay on the veranda and Nagaina came nearer and nearer to it, til at last, while Rikki-Tikki was drawing breath, She caught it in her mouth, turned to the veranda steps, and flew like an arrow down the path.” Also in the movie the mongoose booked it right into the snake hole where many mongooses never come out. (movie) The movie shows “Rikki chasing Nagaia down a hole where the snake lived.” Also in the movie Rikki killed Nagaina, and whatever cobra ever dared to try to threaten him or the family. In conclusion that is how the Resolution is related to the book and the
The essay Four Menus by Sheila Squillante challenges mainstream pieces of writing in various ways. This essay closely resembles poetry with its metaphors and symbolism. This similarity is not a surprise given that Squillante is also a poet. Most essays explain an idea in a structured format which is greatly different from this piece. Four Menus jumps from scenes starting at a Korean restaurant and later at a house. Within the essay she tells flashbacks of times with her friends. These flashbacks are rather random and there seems to be scattered ideas. While pondering all of these aspects of her work I came the conclusion that an essay does not have to be black and white; as long as a main idea is covered it can be left as is. Most of us grew

The point I am trying to prove here is, Sykes would always want to scare Delia with a snake, the first time it was with the bull whip and the last night Sykes put the snake in the soap box to scared Delia to death. Little did Sykes know Delia had faced her fears and learned how to overcome of the snakes. Towards the end of the story when Sykes was supposed to be the master of catching Snakes, the rattle snake makes a transparent sound and bites Sykes. He wanted to scare Delia lifeless but his plan back fired on him.
So when at work or at a party you have to ultimately make a choice. At work, you can choose to do poorly because you think your work will be overlooked resulting in an external locus of control or work hard because you think you determine the results of your work, which is an internal locus of control. Same situation different scenario, with your personal life. For example, you can choose to be quiet and talk to no one at a party because they choose to be alone. They make a difference by sparking up a conversation with someone they know or someone
She says, “Whatever goes over the Devil’s back is got to come under his belly. Sometime or ruther, Sykes, like everybody else, is going to reap his sowing.” This was her belief and prediction she made in the beginning of the story, which comes true at the end. Sykes was tired of being with Delia, so he plans to put the snake in her pile of washing clothes as if it might bite Delia. Delia realized it while sorting the clothes and she ran out of the house, and sit under the Chinaberry tree. Sykes comes home and he is finding the matchbox to turn on the light. At the same time, the snake bites him with the poisonous fangs. Sykes plan get backfired. The snake that he sets up to kill Delia ends up biting himself. Sykes start screaming and calling Delia, and she can hear Sykes voice, but she did not try to seek for help from the doctor. Delia justifies her revenge watching her dying

“Everyone is kneaded out of the same dough but not baked in the same oven”(Yiddish Proverb). These words apply to Katherine Mansfield’s short story, “Garden Party” as she touches on some very controversial points about the social inequality of the Sheridan family with its surrounding neighbors. A great internal and external quarrel over social class rises in the Sheridan family as Laura Sheridan, the daughter, sympathises with the less-fortunate neighbors while her mother, Mrs. Sheridan is the opposite. Mansfield illustrates to her readers the conflict within Laura in various ways, namely, using foil characters between Mrs. Sheridan and Laura, using multiple symbols and appealing to emotion to emphasize her main message of social equality.
