Buying a Tablet There are many things to consider when buying a tablet. One may be overwhelmed when they walk into a store and see multiple options of tablets, including but not limited to; multiple brands, sizes, features, colors, and even price. It’s most important to cover the top three brands of tablets, which happen to be the iPad, Kindle, and Nook. Before buying a tablet, it is important to decide what it is you would use your tablet most for. Would it be reading? Games? Apps? Or would it be everyday use in replacement of a computer or laptop? When looking to purchase a tablet from Apple, a few options are available. As of now there is an iPad Air, as well as an iPad mini. They both contain similar features; however, the iPad Air has a 9.7-inch display while the iPad mini has a 7.9-inch display. The new iPad Air is unbelievably thin and light, and yet it’s so much more powerful and capable. With the A7 chip, advanced wireless, and great apps for productivity and creativity — all beautifully integrated with iOS 7 — iPad Air lets you do more than you ever imagined, in more places than you ever imagined. On another note, any way you look at it, iPad mini is just incredible. And the stunning Retina display is only the beginning. With a new A7 chip, advanced wireless, and powerful apps — all beautifully integrated with iOS 7 — iPad mini with Retina display lets you do more than you ever imagined. Feature for feature, it’s identical to iPad Air in every way, except for its super-portable, hold-it-in-one-hand, still-just-right mini size. It starts at $399. In my opinion, tablets should be used for leisure rather than work, and they should not have to be heavily relied on. It is important that buyer’s understand just what a tablet can do so their expectations aren’t too high. As far as wireless systems go, all of the tablets that I listed are able to connect to Wi-Fi, however, if one would want to be able to connect to the internet without having Wi-Fi, they could pay a monthly fee to a cell phone company such as Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint. It all depends on the buyer’s needs and wants. Works Cited Apple. n.d. Inc., Apple. Apple. 2013. Apple. 22 November 2013 . —. Apple. 2013. 22 November 2013 . Barnes & Noble Inc. reached a deal to sell color tablets made by Samsung Electronics Co. co-branded with the book chain's Nook label. Samsung was co-brand a custom 7-inch tablet for Barnes & Noble (BKS) based on the manufacturer’s Galaxy Tab 4 model and featuring the bookseller’s Nook software. For Samsung, the deal brings the considerable heft of Barnes & Noble’s retail and online sales presence, particularly considering it's for a model the company already makes. The deal fulfills Barnes & Noble's previously stated plan to reduce its heavy investment in the Nook, which has been a financial drain in recent years, allowing the retailer to focus more on its stores and college business.
Amazon has created a massive product base, and offers nearly everything, from mobile phones and tablets, attires for women, men, and also children, gaming consoles, accessories, DVDs, equipment, and Kindle (Venkatraman and Henderson 1998). From the case study, it also mentions about Kindle, which is an e-book reader introduced by Amazon and is the cause of the revolution of switching from hardcopies or papers to digital e-books in the publishing industry. As a result of this successful product, the company later introduced their own tablet, Kindle fire. Amazon persists to develop its product base, where in 2014 it took part in the smartphone industry, announcing its own Fire Phone that was released earlier than Amazon Fire TV which is a set top box system where people can watch numerous channels streaming and it also supports speech instructions when looking for specific channel or videos (Smith and Reinertsen

There are many things to consider such as hard drive, what processors are the best, which screen has the best resolution, or would you rather build a computer that best suits you. The options are endless and in most cases it can become overwhelming, due to the rapid expansion in technology a variety of products that are available have increased dramatically in the past 7 years. Some of the most important criteria that should be considered when evaluating these products are portability, performance, and price. The MacBook Air is an interesting product, because it isn’t top of the line in any of these criteria. In fact, it has a balance of all three that have made it one of the top selling products of recent. Amazon Kindle is one of Amazon’s recent remarkable products. Kindle is a portable device which allows user to read, download, and store e-books due to its wireless connection and internal memory (Amazon, 2009). The first version was originally launched in US market in 2007 and achieved success as sold out in five and a half hours (Patel, 2007). Later, Kindle has been through several upgraded versions; Kindle original, Kindle 2, Kindle DX, Kindle DX Graphite, and the most recent version Kindle 3 with improvements mostly on the shape, contrast, memory capacity, and operating system. Earlier versions of Kindle had been criticized for its aesthetic and user interface issues. Reviews from customers and gadget experts motivated Amazon to further improve the product.

If you spent any time in a toy aisle this past holiday season, you would have noticed a subtle shift starting to occur in toys. The old standby toys are giving way to more modern app-enabled versions. Manufacturers are finding any way they can to update classic toys to engage with modern tablets. Barbie is enabled with cameras that play back via apps, Fisher Price play sets embed them for interactive play, and Lego building sets can be controlled by them. Unless manufacturers embrace and utilize tablets with their products, the tablet will take over the toy market.
