Having completed the Myers-Briggs Personality Test previously, I was identified as an INTP, which stands for introverted, intuitive, thinking, and perceiving. Accordingly, this personality is often labeled as “The Architect” or “The Logician.” Despite my previous results, I repeated the test as instructed in the assignment. Consequently, based on the outcome of the test, my personality has altered in the past year. Understanding why people do what they do has baffled people for centuries. The Myers-Briggs Personality test has answer a few of these questions. It took me a little while to think on some of the questions because I had to think about what the true answer was and not just how I wanted to view myself. I’d say most of the results are accurate except for competition and significance. They do not describe my personality because I’m a pretty laid back person and I do not like to measure myself according to other achievements because it would drive me crazy to live my life that way. Her results were different compared to mine, as she got ESFP (The Entertainer) on 16 Personalities and on Human Metrics’ 16 Types. In comparison, we are both extroverts who love to rile up others. But the difference is she seeks the party, while I inspire others to seek or create the party, whichever suits both mine and their interests. While she has a more colorful way of storytelling, I tend to organize my thoughts to what I feel is a rational order. Throughout the beginning of this semester I have looked at how individuals behave within business organizations. Through various exercises and results, I have found a number of patterns within my behavior and interests. I have become aware what interests me, and a number of skills/abilities I was oblivious I had. This reflection and in class exercises has allowed me to expand my skills, abilities, and behaviors, well fitting them into prospective future employment.
The Neuroticism-Extraversion-Openness Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) is a widely used personality inventory. It has sixty questions using a Likert scale that measures five personality traits: OCEAN – openness (to experience,), conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. My overall results from the NEO-FFI were low in neuroticism, low in extraversion, high in openness, average in agreeableness, and high in conscientiousness. Likewise, my results were fairly consistent with what I had originally perceived my scores to be. Overall, I do agree with my results since there were many consistencies I recognized. Yet, at the same time, my behavior could fall into both categories of high and low compared to the norms. Additionally,
According to the findings of the Five Factor Model of personality, I have a relatively balanced score on a number of the key traits. For example, on the continuum of extroversion versus introversion, I scored moderately high in both categories, indicating that I am comfortable being around other people and also being alone. I also scored moderate on the quality of contentiousness, indicating I am always struggling between being organized and disorganized, which is also true. I scored extremely high on agreeableness, indicating that I am basically a trusting and friendly person. In general, I believe this speaks well of my mental health. But I scored high for the trait of neuroticism, which indicates that I can be emotional and insecure (i.e., I worry a great deal). I also ranked high on the trait of openness, on seeking out new experiences and being open-minded. This indicates that I am open to new ideas and enjoy creative and novel things.
Although some would argue that their results are nowhere near correct, I would say that mine were, for the most part, spot on. I did conjure up a few disagreements; however, a more detailed and longer test might be able to give me a more in depth and accurate rating of my personality. Mindy possesses many quirky personality traits, and often finds herself in perplexing situations. Mindy possesses many characteristics in which I am led to believe that she is high on extraversion. She enjoys making quality connections between her cliental and co-workers. She exhibits many traits of being high on extraversion due to the fact that she is social, affectionate, and loving. Mindy is low on conscientiousness because her life is overall disorganized, and she often shows out spurts of carelessness. Although she is organized within her professional life, she leans more towards being disorganized within the other aspects of her life. She often makes rash decisions, and shows signs of creativity often. According to the description in the exercise, ENFP's are warm, enthusiastic and live their outer life more with intuition and their inner more with feeling.
