Confederate A Experiment

In this experiment the group went through completing one trial. In the fourth grade class there were 10/19 (52.6%) students aloud to participate in the experiment due to the absence of returned permission slips. There were 6/10 (60%) females and 4/10 (40%) male students that participated to conduct the experiment.

The trial included the separations of genders. The group added one confederate in order to do a same sex grouping. Experimenter 1 conducted her experiment with all of the females with Experimenter 2 observing and taking notes. All of the females 6/6 (100%) were involved in their opinions on what occupations Experimenter 1 could pursue. There were six main jobs repeated and brought up by the females during the same sex grouping. The repetition was

always constant with ⅚ (83.3%) stated esthetician, 4/6 (66.7%) nail artist, 4/6 (66.7%) hairdresser, and 3/6 (50%) mall employee.

Confederate A was conducting with the four males given. While conducting the experiment 4/4 (100%) of the males participated and took interest within choosing occupations for Confederate A. Out of all occupations given being an athlete was repeated, but with different sports. Such as, 4/4 (100%) football, 2/4 (50%) basketball, and ¼ soccer. All males stated that Confederate A should pursue youtube creator, video game creator, police officer, gym teacher, and scientist. There was 2/4 (50%) subjects that stated occupations such as NASA worker and FBI/CIA. While as there were a few extra occupations stated including repair man ¾ (75%) and ¼ (25%) race car driver. The group proceeded to have all subjects come into one room in front of both Confederate A Experimenter 1 and tell occupations for either sex. The group had the believence that both sexs would witheild their opinions. At first, there were observations made by Experimenter 2 and 3 that made the subjects seem as if they would not answer honestly. While in time the subjects, both genders began to state different occupation that

were not biased towards one sex. Confederate A had 14 occupations that were listed where they were all repeated more than once. For instance, athlete and cop was stated by all subjects at different points, with different sports. 7/10 (70%) of the subjects believed that a male could be a video game creator and surgeon. Half of the subjects believed that Confederate A could become a gamestop worker and in the military. 3/10 (30%) expressed the wanted for stay home dads as an occupation for a male. The few left occupations would be business man, pilot, and comedian where 2/10 (20%) subject believed these occupations were for males. The occupations for females and Experimenter did not vary as much. Many of the subjects made it clear to as both genders were able to do certain careers they stated. All subjects believed that a female could pursue the career of a nurse. &/10(70%) of the subjects believed detective, teacher, and an athlete Experimenter 1 would go into. Half of the subjects stated a hairstylist. A stay at homeworker, lawyer, and spa worker was stated by 4/10 (40%) of the subjects. 3/10 (30%) expressed females could be a youtube creator, youtube star, model, and American Eagle worker at the mall. A movie maker, actress, and doctor were given as examples by 2/10 (20%) of the subjects. Only 1/10 (10%) expressed that a female can go into the career of being in the military, librarian, McDonald’s worker, and scientist.
