My most wonderful thoughts are with my parents on all the Coney Island trips they took me on. My parents always take time to do things that would keep me happy. They are the type of parents that always made time in their busy schedule for me. Coney Island was one of the ways they made me happy, and we spent lots of family time there bonding. Whenever we visited there, my parents and I always tried different foods. I was always the one to take the first bite. My first time eating frog legs was with my parents on Coney Island, I remember how much I love the taste of them. After we ate we would go on some thrilling rides, they were so much fun, and one of my favorite things to do with them was to sit on the boardwalk and watch the sunset into
A year later we moved the United States, and i no longer had my favorite tacos to look forward to, instead I had burgers and hot dogs, and a million other things my small brain couldn 't comprehend. Every christmas we had chicken tamales, and at every party we had beef stew. It became a tradition; we were a meat family, and I the biggest meat eater of all. Soon after I discovered the wonders of rare meats and other cuisines, I became a veteran of Thai, Italian, Vietnamese, Korean, Mediterranean, and other new kinds of foods. I tried a plethora of eccentric meats; brain, tongue, eyeballs, tentacles; I even ate grasshoppers, and ants. Thus it was that I became one of the most dedicated and adventurous meat-eaters you were ever likely to meet. I liked my meat bloody, perhaps thirty seconds on each side, slap it on a plate and I would be
It never really had to be the sandy beaches at Little Egypt, it was just being together with my two best friends. That was all that mattered. Time stood still when we were together, ten minutes for us three was two hours for the rest of the world. Where did all the time go, I’m not really sure. I am sure that those days at the Little Egypt with Leslie, Becca, and my brothers were some of the best days of my life.
Imagine yourself sitting on a lava rock cliff, hearing the ocean pounding the rock wall below. The salty sea spray cools your lips and the taste tickles your tongue. Feeling the sun against your skin, it is cooled by the mix of mist and breeze that plays with the palm trees. You could say I grew up in a place most people can only daydream about. When most people hear of where I grew up all they can picture is paradise. There is so much more to the “Aloha State” than the stale beachside hotels covered in an abundance of hibiscus prints with pineapples around every turn. The people, food, and land are the heart of the Hawaiian Islands.
After we got tired of the pool me and my family started to head to the beach. So as we walked we noticed an amazing shell so we went and picked it up and there was a snail inside of it. It jumped out of its shell at my dad and scared us to death. After that we set it back free in the ocean, the we went and played around in the amazing water. My mom and my grand ma went to go and get lunch from the beach side café. They had the best food on the beach, we all ate our lunch and were stuffed
I can remember traveling to my grandparents’ house for Thanksgiving, I would become so excited the week leading up to the holiday because I was finally able to see my aunts and grandparents all at the same time. We stayed the entire Thanksgiving break at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. On Thanksgiving morning, we would wake up early to watch the Macy’s Day Parade all of us, girls and kids, still in our pajamas cuddle on the floor in front of the tv. Eventually, my mom, Grandma, Aunt Lindsey, and Aunt Elexa would get up to start
My original island is called the palm tree island. The island is shaped like a palm tree. That’s how it got it’s name. On the Palm Tree island there are a few stores, shops, and restaurants to go to. Every morning I can hear birds chirping like they were singing a song. I can also see many people jogging on the sidewalks before they go to work. The taste of coffee and donuts in the morning is always satisfying. A lot of times I can smell the cool blue salt water all day long. I can feel the soft moisture of the sand on the island. Across this island there is another island, but it’s unknown. Nobody lives on the island. Nobody knows what’s on the island.
Galveston Island, my happy place. Even though, life has a funny way of getting in the way I was still able to create an abundance of memories before I could no longer experience my “happy place” with all the people that made it…well,
Many cinematic experts, such as the famous director, Martin Scorsese in his essay, “The Persisting Vision: Reading the Language of Cinema,” stressed on the importance of being a visual literate to fully understand and truly experience the story being told on a screen through an intricately designed film. Not only does understanding the cultural, historical, and technical significance of film language help one enhance their visual experience when watching a movie, but also helps in understanding how to create better films, and to genuinely appreciate the work put together by a team of directors, producers, writers, actors, etc., in the universal tongue of cinema. This essay explores the role of cinema as a language and discusses how different
Before I left for college, I often reminisce on the good times I have had with my friends and family. Whether that be spending countless hours on the boat with my dad, or sleeping on the beach with my best friends. When I watch the waves lapse on the beach, and the boats drive by, it makes me appreciate the everlasting connections I have made on that island. I have learned over the years that my spot is more than a place where I can mentally reset, but somewhere that has led to lifelong relationships with
grandparents’ house. They have cared for me like no one else could and I am very
When I was a young child I would love to hear my parents tell me that we were going on a trip. I would be full of excitement, because I knew that we would be going to a place that I had never seen before. My parents, my brother, and I would pack our luggage and venture out in our small gray minivan. Three of my most cherished memories in our minivan are when we went to Disney World, the beach, and the mountains.
One of the best family trips that I have been on occurred when I was about 8 years old. My family and I were invited to go on a 4th of July camping trip to Telluride by some family friends that have 5 kids the same ages as our kids. Several other good friends were also invited to join us. We prepared our camping gear, loaded up the car and hooked up our trailer with our Polaris Ranger. The long drive to Telluride was 7 hours and it felt like it took forever because we were so excited to arrive. Even though the drive up their wasn’t fun at all, the reward was great.
My favorite place as a child was County Park Lake. When we had family picnics because we all got together and there was great food and kids playing and the adults playing horse-shoes and could tell there was love for one another. There was no other place like this when I was a child. Some of my fondest memories was at that picnic site we should all have memories likes those.
My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy. I remembered waking up early excited to visit this new land. Used to take long flights, I was surprised to arrive to the destination after a one-hour flight. Even though the flight was short for me, it was stressful for my mom, she has never felt secured in a plane, probably due to the fact that she is afraid of height. When finally arrived at the destination, the dry and warm weather was there to welcome us. We all felt relief, and knew that this was the beginning of the summer. Excited, we had a lot of activities planned for the few weeks, me and my father could not wait to dive in the clear
Going on a road trip with my family means the world to me. We drove to another state during summer vacation, and it was by far the best road trip I have ever been on. My family and I were able to go to many fun places. We ate so many exotic and delicious foods as well. Yet most importantly, I spent time with my family and their friends. It was the day when my family and I went to California for our summer vacation.
