Concealed carry is among one of the most touchy subjects in America but it gives security to people who qualify to carry and is a basic right to the American people. Concealed carry varies from state to state but should not be prohibited anywhere due to the good it can and does cause. With dealing with weapons there is always the risk of bodily injury but that is reduced if the person next you possibly has a weapon. Not knowing who has a weapon keeps people from committing crimes simply from the fact that they don't know if people are exercising their second amendment rights to legally bare arms.

require you to go through a separate process as well, opposed to some states that issue the concealed license upon completion of the regular weapons process. ”A general sense of danger is not a valid excuse to be granted a concealed carry license” ( Washington D.C police chief qtd in the debate).A general sense of danger is a seemingly perfect reason to want to carry according to 13 states. Why should the safety of another person be dictated by someone else? While people have all different types of intentions while purchasing a weapon, some states go above and beyond to make sure the protocol for concealing weapons is thorough. “include being a valid state resident, meeting the Lamb2 age requirement, submitting fingerprints, passing a computerized background check, attending a firearms safety class and paying a fee” (Peterson).

route. Crime rates against citizens who carry concealed weapons is significantly lower than citizens of states that require another permit or do not allow CC at all.
“Data taken from 1995 from 2010 support this and shows a 42 percent difference in violence crime”(Binker) a 42 percent drop of violence per 100,000 people is very significant and expresses the good concealed carry can do. Gun laws that allow one to carry a concealed weapon also create more public places that are gun free zones such as bars. “Hilton argues for more gun free zones like places that serve alcohol”(Hilton qtd in fact check). By not allowing guns in places that can impair a persons judgement it makes crime rates go down and reduces fear of an impaired person(s) with a weapon committing a crime or having an accident. more laws should be made to allow concealed carry for the 15 other states that do not have the same process, after all it is a right to the american people.
The right to bare arms is a right guaranteed to the people of the United States and cannot be denied to them so long as they meet the criteria to do so. “The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” (U.S Constitution). If regulating the gun laws in a way makes it so that qualified people still cannot bear the arm they need in the way that protects them the most is being denied by the state it “infringes” on that second constitutional right. It is not fair to the people in the 15 other states weapon owners or not to have
these different regulations on Lamb3 concealed carry.By doing so it puts people at risk and makes people who travel with their weapons at risk of persecution because of the lack of a general concealed carry system. “This means that no person in that particular state or district may carry a concealed weapon in public at any time, nor will the authorities honor a permit from another state”(Peterson). By legally leaving a state with a gun license is very legal it becomes illegal once the person ( Almost always Unknowingly) crosses into a state that will not recognize the permit from their home state and can possibly put a person who was just exercising their right to carry in prison with a record. The problem of concealed carry is not just a problem of who allows and who does not but a problem of the process and extensive steps and absolute denial of a concealed carry permit to those who would otherwise qualify in 35 different states. Violent crimes decreases with the rise of citizens who carry all across the country. This is a problem that 15 states face whether it is not enough regulation or too much it is a right protected laid out by our founding fathers. It should all come down to if you are a citizen who meets the requirements should not be denied to carry your weapon in a concealed manner.
Many Americans are now applying for a license to carry licensed concealed arms with them. The rate at which licenses are being approved is worrying. This development is concerning law enforcement authorities. Putting so many firearms at the disposal of the public is counterproductive to the gains that are being made on improving security and especially in the cities where incidences of gun crime and violence are on the rise.
First off, United States citizens were given the right to bear arms in the 2nd amendment of the Constitution, so many people buy firearms. For example, 40% of all US homes have at least one gun. The United States Constitution states, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Although it is a given right, the 2nd amendment is also just a reminder to the government not to take this right away from citizens. Additionally, Wisconsin has a state preemption law that says that cities can not pass firearm ordinances that are more strict that the state laws. They can enforce a sal...
“The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.” The Second Amendment supports conceal and carry by stating “the right to bear arms.” That statement should be exemplified as to have a gun in public. People need to have a weapon ready for use in case of emergency. Not in a car or locked up inside a house, but in reach of the certified personnel. According to the opposing side on ProCon.org, the article Should Adults Have the Right to Carry a Concealed Handgun states: “the amendment is not unlimited and should permit weapons only to citizens who can prove a ‘justifiable need’” (“Right to Carry a Concealed Handgun” 3). The article also has a women’s opinion on Conceal and carry. She stated “women need to be able to defend their home and defend themselves if they go out. It 's just a safety issue” (“Right to Carry a Concealed Handgun” 2). In order to feel safe, and have a reliable self-defense mechanism should be a justifiable reason for Conceal and Carry
John R. Lott, Jr., PhD, author of More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws, stated, "States with the largest increases in gun ownership also have the largest drops in violent crimes... The effect on 'shall-issue ' [concealed gun] laws on these crimes [where two or more people were killed] has been dramatic. When states passed these laws, the number of multiple-victim shootings declined by 84 percent. Deaths from these shootings plummeted on average by 90 percent and injuries by 82
Everyone has had that time in their life where they feel that they would be safer if they had some sort of protection, concealed carry is a great option for protection. Over the years it has been growing in popularity, more and more people are going out and getting their concealed carry permit. With more and more people going out and getting their permit, some may view it as dangerous, while others feel it is a necessity. Concealed carry is essential because, it allows added protection, has certain restrictions that the person must meet, and if guns are handled properly they are not as dangerous
Although it seems straightforward, the US constitution leaves a sort of ‘grey area’ when speaking of concealed firearms in public, the second amendment speaks of militia related interest, not self-defense related interests. The second amendment defines the right to keep a firearm in a household, which was normal for the time; but the ever-changing world and constant threat of shootings means we should leave it to police officers to handle crime. One major argument, however, is the thought that ‘if everybody was armed, everybody would then be able to protect themselves’. Sadly, we do not live in a perfect world; we live in a world where more guns leads to more accidents. Also if everybody was armed, Criminals and under-the-radar insane people would all want to perform heinous acts against society. In Gun Control by Earl Kruschke he states, “Someone who keeps a gun in their house for self-defense is more likely to injure themselves than to ward off an attacker” (Kruschke 34). That means owning a gun for self-defense and recreational use is statistically not worth doing, but it may offer some much needed peace of mind. Many citizens believe that owning a gun in a home can be an effective way to defend their
“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” The right of all Americans to bear arms is a right the Founding Fathers held to equal importance as the Constitution itself. Gun control laws directly violate this right and therefore should not even be under consideration. Even if that issue is overlooked, gun control advocates state that in order to reduce firearm related violence, gun control laws must be implemented to remove the violence caused by firearms. Although this may seem reasonable, the consequences of such laws are ironically counterproductive; they exacerbate the problem instead of fixing it. Besides the fact that the American Constitution guarantees its citizens the right to bear arms, the idea of restricting gun ownership in order to reduce firearm-related violence would ultimately fail given the previous experiments of gun control in England and in numerous states.
Imagine enjoying a movie at Cinema 10, eating a meal at Taco Bell, or even sitting in a history class at Carman-Ainsworth High School while people all around you are carrying loaded guns! Although this may seem unbelievable, it is possible because the second amendment of the United States Constitution gives citizens the right to possess and carry guns. It is understandable that Americans would want to possess guns such as shotguns and rifles for the popular sport of hunting. However, it is ridiculous that our government would allow people to carry handguns. Handgun possession should be strictly limited, because they are made solely to kill people, they have increased the murder rate in the U.S., and they have even allowed children to easily kill other children.
Concealed weapons in college campus’s have been a big issue since the mass shootings in Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois Universities. Allowing for guns to be allowed in college campus’s would be a bad thing to do since it would create additional risks for students, even if weapons were allowed it wouldn’t deter the shooter, and it would detract from a healthy learning environment. So far there is only five states , Colorado, Mississippi, Oregon, Utah, and Wisconsin, that allow “concealed carry” at school campus.
In current day society, it is frequently promoted as self-defense and our “duty” as Americans to own a gun of some sort. The second amendment to the constitution declares that “We the People” are allowed to bear arms because we live in a free State. Although these statements are true, at what cost? The question, “at what cost,” arises due to the recent push for an extension and enforcement of the second amendment. The people of the States have been pushing for desired concealed carry at public areas, such as schools. Statements and questions of concern have been on the as to whether or not this idea is “smart”. Contrary of it allowing some people to feel safe, the idea should be imposed. Guns are weapons and they have the history behind them
This is caused because the more guns there, are the less violence there is. Dangerous criminals will think twice about robbing someone that has a gun. A victim with a gun is no longer a victim because they can not fight back against the attacker. Therefore, they can save their lives and save lives of the public which need help at that moment. Lott states, “The estimated annual gain from 1992 from allowing concealed handguns was over $5.74 billion” (House Report). This states that when a decline in violence goes down the amount of money goes up. Concealed guns can only benefit everyone in multiple ways. Concealed weapons can help create the feeling of safety and reduce violence. No one wants to live in
No when it comes to limiting the number of weapons a person can own at their residence, the Constitution makes no provisions for the number of “arms” a person may keep. Given that the Second Amendment states “arms”, this to me says a given state cannot limit the number of a legal weapon which a person owns. Requiring background checks and extensive training for people who want to use weapons makes sense. When starting out, not everyone has prior knowledge of the safe operation of a handgun or any other weapon they want to keep around for protection. The government asking them to demonstrate this ability is reasonable and does not go against the Constitution as
The second amendment says, "A well regulated militia being necessary to security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." The second amendment was made for two things. It is there for first, to guarantee the individuals right to have arms for self-defense and self-preservation. The second reason is related to the militia. The right to carry a handgun for self-protection is a privilege of citizenship. The confusion is the right of the state or the individual. The regulation of handguns could be looked at as unconstitutional. The amendment is for the people and not the state.
Did you know the second amendment states that you have a right to own and use arms for protection? Kentucky passed a law in 1813 that prohibits the carrying of concealed weapons. In May 1987, Florida passed a “shall-issue” law that became a model for other states. There were 11 states that have the “may-issue” law which allowed permits. On July 8, 2011, Wisconsin became the 49th state to allow concealed carry. (ProCon.org) Adults who go through training and obtain a permit should be able to carry a concealed handgun.
... was in fact an increase in violent crime. In the data this has been shown to be false. There is also no supporting evidence to show that concealed carry permit holders are committing a significant number of crimes either. In order to get a permit in the first place background checks are done that weed out anybody that has a history of felonies, violence and dangerous mental illness. There is also great legal responsibility that comes with the territory in a self-defense situation. A normal, sane person does not want to have to use a gun in defense. There are lots of serious implications, even if the use is justified, such as civil lawsuits and the psychological impact of the defense itself.
