Goal 1: Christiana will stabilize her mood. Christiana was in a good mood when the QP met with her for a session. Christiana listened as the QP explained how good communication should be between the family members. Christiana reflected on the QP describing each communication boulder for her to choose which boulders she uses. Christiana informed QP that she uses sarcasm, her mother puts her down, crabby voice, hostile criticism, blame games, and dumping. Christiana stated, "my mom says mean and hurtful things, but I don't let it bother me, but if I say hurtful things back to her she is ready to get into an argument with me." Christiana acknowledged, "I cannot get my mother to do anything therapy related." Christiana focused on how to play the C-Boulders game by cutting …show more content…
out C-Boulder pieces and putting them in a bowl where everyone can find them, so whenever someone uses a C-Boulder in a conversation, the person listening gives him or her a C-Boulder piece, but if the offending person apologizes and says it again nicely he or she can put the boulder piece back. Christiana made slight progress with stabilizing her mood, as indicated by Christiana acknowledging that she uses C-Boulders at home; however, she has agreed to reduce her usage and communicate in loving manner.
Goal 2: Christiana will prevent a crisis situation. Christiana stated, "my sister doesn't listen to me at all when I tell her to do something then I end up having to tell her multiple times before she complies." Christiana instructed her sister to go eat her breakfast; however, she refused saying she was scared to go into the kitchen, but the QP informed her if she went into the kitchen to eat herself the QP would check on her. Christiana commented, "my mom told me the same thing I need to pick and choose my battles with her, but it is just no that easy" and the QP agreed it is not going to be easy for her to do it because of her skill set and age. Christiana reported, "when I start counting backwards she will listen and stop doing what she is supposed to sometimes." Christiana's sister was observed in her face several times and started spitting and would not stop; therefore, Christiana picked her up and put her out the room then they both start pushing back and forth on the
door. Christiana's sister appeared crying but was able to sit on the stairs and calm down before she came back in the room. Christiana and her sister listened as the QP shared it appears they aggravate in each other on purpose at times and they need to find out what is going to work for them to get through the day peacefully. Christiana's sister commented, "she is harsh to me" because she heard the QP used the word during the communication boulder activity. Christiana made slight progress with preventing a crisis situation, as indicated by Christiana and her sister not getting along which occurs daily and Christiana feels like she is the only one that punish when there is conflict.
She uses this advice when she’s faced with problems. “I try to be aware of my interactions, and realize that it’s not always my fault. I used to take things personally, but this job has made me realize that people have difficult lives. I try to approach situations with kindness and respect, and not internalize things so

Throughout the story, it has been Sister who has tried to persuade the reader to take her side in the debacle with her family. The truth is that it was Sister who caused the entire dispute that is going on with her obsession to compete with her sister that goes back to her childhood where she feels that Stella-Rondo is spoiled and continues to be spoiled up to the end following Sister’s desperate need for attention.
For example the line, “I—can’t dance!” or “Please don’t stare at me, Mother.” Even the line, “I had to walk in front of all those people. My seat was in the back row. I had to go clumping all way up the aisle with everyone watching.” or “ I-I never had much luck at—making friends.” Moreover, even when Laura attempts to accept herself shown with the line, “Lately, I have been spending most of my afternoons in the Jewel-box, that big glass house where they raise the tropical flowers.” and “I’m all right. I slipped, but I’m alright,” or even, “It isn’t a flood, it’s not a tornado, Mother. I’m just not popular like you were in Blue Mountain,” she can then go back to negative self defeating language. For example, “Well, not very—well—I had to drop out it gave me—indigestion,” or, “ In what respect am I pretty?” even when Laura mentioned the line, “I’m—-crippled,” she used it with a negative

Some mothers cannot be all that you want her to be, but she is a mother. Being the only daughter with four brothers of the family with a mean mother was a tough life. Teenage life was the hardest tough love having to hear her criticism tone of voice and what she has to say next from her cup full of emotions. She would not give any female support on problems when support was needed. Sometimes it is rare to see her happy, but mainly she gives out her stress, anxiety, and anger like whose fault would that be if it was not hers. Most of the back talking is not a way to solve an argument, not with her, but she will not give up. Living with the madness helps to become a strong person if believing is all that can be wished for. Experiencing as a teenager, mother would probably be the toughest meanest mother in the world, but she is mother who will love dearly. No matter how hard life can be with a mean mother she will continue to love endlessly despite of if she shows her emotional or psychological abuse actions, but she is a biological mother with a soft heart to love.
For example, she talked to the principal about her plans after college and had a strong feeling of dislike for the idea and expressed it through comparing it to her mother, who she also doesn’t like too much.
She responds with "Love" is or ain't. Thin love ain't love at all. For Sethe love has no bounds. The sand is a sand. Her ideas of right and wrong are confused.

During the story, Sister hastily questions Stella-Rondo for moving back home with her adopted child. Sister lacks care and understanding for the concerns of her family. The narrow mindedness of Sister hinders her from respectfully listening and/or comprehending others opinions. While staying at the P.O., Sister shows her narrow mindedness by stating, “And if Stella-Rondo should come to me this minute, on bended knees, and attempt to explain the incidents of her life with Mr. Whitaker, I'd simply put my fingers in both my ears and refuse to listen” (Welty 847). The unwillingness of sister to listen to others shows how

In addition to denial, she reaches a stage of anger and indignance with herself and others in the small world that is her life. She can no longer perform the simplest tasks such as dressing herself or walking down the stairs. It irks her to need help, which is one of the reasons she can't stand Doris. She is also angry at the lack of emotional control as she perceives how "laden with self‑pity" (pg. 31) her voice sounds when arguing with Marvin in one instance. She cannot control how her "mouth speaks by itself, the words flowing from somewhere, some half hidden hurt" (pg. 68).
It has been my craving in every aspect of life to do things differently, chart my own path and tread in to uncharted territory. Nine years back, this what made me join a course in bachelor of marine engineering at MERI, the only institute in India exclusively offering such a course. Idea of venturing in to high sees, braving the storms with only handful of resources and almost completely cut off from out side world made adrenaline pumping in to my veins. All this along with opportunity to get exposure to highly sophisticated systems on board ships, which was fodder for my technical bent of mind seemed perfect for my adventure seeking personality. Through out my career progression I have made such decisions like joining LNG shipping pool of my company and seeking extra professional qualification of eligibility to sail on diesel engine driven as well as turbine driven ships
