I believe that if you are not driven to be the very best at the things you do then it is not a calling. There are plenty of opportunities in life and you should take everyone you get. Success is a word that is on a broad spectrum, there is no single definition to the word. I define what success is for me. There is no set image of success, success is also constantly changing. The word success means achieving what I want to do in life, and to prosper in the situations my life has put me in. One step in my opinion towards success is to have compassion. Compassion is a …show more content…
I am a strong believer that I am the only person who has my own back and no one should or will give me the easy route to success. However, I still believe that role models and leaders are key factors to success but a leader shouldn't give you all ask for they should tell you that failure is part of success. I think that David Brooks in his article The Road to Character. Help clarify individualism as ” My advice to you is to be true to yourself and everything will be fine” (Brooks 4). Brooks praise the idea of self-reliance throughout his book showing us what it really means and how we can use it to be successful. Another great quote from The Road to Character ” Everything in my own immediate experience supports my deep belief that I am the absolute center of the universe”(Brooks 6). This really paints a picture to what self-reliance is. Time cannot be slowed down you need to find the job that is going to fit you but you decide what fits me, I create your own opportunities “Many business books tell you to set life goals and work to achieve them. Success can be an extremely broad subject. There is an abounding amount of different views on what the “true” definition of success is. Personally, I believe that success is finding happiness. Success is waking up in the morning and not having to worry about whether or not the bills are going to be paid this month. Success is having a job that you enjoy going to every day. Success is having friends and family who love and support you. Success does not mean that one has to be exceedingly rich or have a lakeside mansion. As long as they are happy, they have succeeded in life.

If using one word to measure success, what the word would be? Undoubtedly, money, power and happiness are surely the popular choices. Yet, are they truly the scales for weighing whether a person is successful or not? My answer is negative. Then, how exactly should we define success?
'One has achieved success who has lived well and laughed often.'; This quote seems to sum up what is meant by success. If you are able to laugh often and much then you have definitely achieved happiness. The idea of living well, though, is a very broad statement. In order, then, to define success in relation to this statement, we must first define what it means to live well. There are three levels of success, in my opinion: societal success, personal success, and academic or professional success. If someone can achieve all of these three levels of success, they are someone who has lived well.
Success is about being happy with an outcome and doing something correctly. It is about feeling accomplished when something is finished. Making money and getting fame is a reward for success. Success is setting a goal, putting others first, and doing what you have to do to achieve the goal. Success involves happiness from achievements, gaining respect from peers, and a lot of selflessness.

That being said, I recently had the pleasure to interview someone who is successful in my eyes. I met my interviewee while attending my younger sister’s school open house. At the open house, I had the opportunity to meet and converse with all of my sister’s teachers, however, the only one that caught my attention was Ms. C. She is a high school teacher who has taught 10th-grade geometry for the past 5 years but has taught other grade levels for the past 11 years. Ms. C further fits my definition of success by exemplifying enjoyment in

The definition of the word “success” was often considered as the achievement of wealth, but now it has become modernized to fit into today's society. Today, success is thought as an individual doing what makes them happy in life, generally doing their best, or even contributing positive things to the world to make it a better place (What does success mean).
When I was growing up, I was told to hurry up and work hard to be successful. At a young age, I interpreted that success was to make money. Only when I am wealthy I will truly understand what success is, happiness. As I got older I realized that success has many different interpretations and it differs from one person to another. Success to me is a feeling rather than an event or series of events. One sole event does not amount to success. Even when I have achieved something, there is always going to be something more. The drive to be successful will always be there and success is more of a feeling when reaching different tiers of goals. In reaching those tiers, I believe you get a sense of happiness and relief in knowing you are moving in
