“Pornography is the theory, and Rape the practice.” - Robin Morgan Despite the increased recognition that the topic of sexual abuse has generated in the past two decades, the literature in this area remains exiguous. This research paper provides a comprehensive review of the current state of the sexual abuse within marriage and with sex workers. Firstly, the descriptive definition of development and a lengthy description of freedom to all after development. Secondly, research on sex life of sex workers and married women is reviewed, including prevalence, descriptive. This research highlights the seriousness of sexual abuses, in the terms of prevalence and post trauma distress. Finally, conclusive view on sexual abuses faced by women. What is development? Development is the act or process of growth of humans throughout the lifespan, improving quality of life and expanding real freedom that people enjoy. Development is a process of extending the true opportunities and real freedom that people revel in. Concentrating on human opportunities and freedom appears differently with relation to narrower perspectives of improvement and development. For example, identifying development with the advancement of gross national product, or with industrialization, or with the rise in personal incomes, or with the ascent in particular livelihoods, or with technological advancement or social modernization. Development as freedom Development increases human freedom. Development occurs when a series of 'unfreedoms' is removed. These include poverty, tyranny, lack of public infrastructure, slavery, lack of educational and health opportunities, no social rights, gend... ... middle of paper ... ..., they are suffering from forced consciousness and if they try to convince that they are not suffering from forced consciousness, then, to conclude, they are not a representative.” - Pye Jacobsson, a Swedish sex-worker Bibliography • SEN, A. Throughout Sex Work and the Law: A Critical Analysis of Four Policy Approaches to Adult Prostitution Frances Shaver discusses the need for change for women working as prostitutes. Shaver explains the ongoing problem surrounding prostitution in Canada and provides four possible ways to resolve the issue in her work. Three well thought out points Shaver writes about are the health benefits as well as personal safety for the women in the sex industry. She also touches base on the decriminalization of prostitution and the impacts it will have on nearby neighborhoods and the residents as well as a few other topics. Although Shaver discusses important areas, she does leave out some particular parts for concern such as the issues surrounding minors involved in the sex industry as well as the men and women who are involuntarily put into prostitution also known as human trafficking. While Shaver touches base on extremely well thought out points and provides a solution for dealing with Canada’s prostitution problem, she fails to elaborate on a few major issues that should be discussed as well when discussing the decriminalization of prostitution.

The panoramic about how sex workers are involved was desolate in the majority situations. The common of them have been assaulted during young years, in many occasions they were initiated in prostitution during childhood, and few of these sex workers said that they are in this profession because they chose. They do not have easy life because they are sometimes addicted to some drugs or mental health problems. They do not have health coverage or other services which are necessary as the rest of population.
The book uses 12 different narratives from males who confide their life stories, which illustrate the diversity of the abusive experience and their reactions to the tragic incident. This book’s main goal is to gather awareness for victims, survivors and as a learning tool that uses these life stories to help observe the issue further. The text integrates these life stories into several chapter. His first chapter discusses the vulnerability of males and how male sexual abuse is a topic not well-recognized within society. By examining the issue through a psychological and behavioral lens; there is a need to find a relation of the consequences of sexual abuse. It distorts self-perception, perceptions of others and closely examines behavioral/physical indicators, as there is comparison on how males and females disclose traumatic experiences. Further information is given, as to what types of social background that males come from, more vulnerable to sexual abuse come. Although, the bottom line is perceptions and life strategies develop from memories and expectations of the mind. Education can play a key part, by teaching the dangers of sexuality but also explain the positive aspect when sexuality is explored for the content of self-respect and respect of others. Overall, this text is an effective tools for those working with sexually abused males to read, and recognize the difficulties and obstacles faced, and what appropriate strategy can be developed to work further to help cope with the trauma suffered. As well, for victims and survivors it is an inspirational text guided to build resiliency and a feeling of togetherness, that no individual is alone. Lastly, this resource should be available to teachers, mental health workers, and other professions that
According to the Sex Workers Project, “Sex work is a term used to refer to all aspects of the lawful and unlawful sex industry” (Sex Workers Project at the Urban Justice Center, 2005). This includes the lived experiences of anyone engaging in sexual transactions. However, before engaging in discussion about this topic, it is important to understand the very distinct differences between sex work and human trafficking within the context of sex industry. This industry is extremely diverse and might include porn actors, street sex workers, dancers, escorts, indoor sex workers, or people who have been trafficked or enslaved. Human trafficking refers to anyone who is being traded, sold, coerced, or forced to engage in sex for money, drugs, or something else. Usually, the victim is not being compensated, but someone else is benefiting from these transactions. Conversely, sex workers are people who are choosing to engage in the sex industry for various reasons. Some of these might include economics, addiction, or even personal empowerment. For the purposes of our discussion, we will mainly be discussing street and indoor sex work.
Sex workers are usually women who are already subsumed by other elements of social marginalisation. They are predominantly illiterate, have limited economic opportunities and lower social status. Women belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes have a higher representation among sex workers (in particular devdasis and women from the Nat and Bedia tribe, communities traditionally excluded from mainstream brahminical society) while a significant proportion of women are those who have been deserted, widowed or victims of violence.

The Problems of Defining Development Development is very difficult to define as it has a wide range of meanings and has therefore been used in a variety of ways, by different people or organizations at different times. For example, geographers will link development with improvements in human welfare. e.g. greater wealth, better education and health. Many geographers will measure development in terms of the countries HDI (Human). Development Index.
Union of India “a class of women is trapped as victims of circumstances, unfounded social sanctions, handicaps and coercive forms in the flesh trade, optimized as prostitute”. There are approximately 15 million prostitutes in India . Prostitution also leads to umpteen health problems for the prostitutes like cervical cancer, traumatic brain injury, HIV, STDs, psychological disorders etc. Prostitution also gives rise to problems like human trafficking and child prostitution. But still prostitution is considered as a necessary evil in the society.

There are at least four different research perspectives about the relationship between development and economic growth. Firstly, economic growth is the basis for social development. Secondly, economic growth and social development are not necessarily linked. Thirdly, both economic growth and social development are not basic causes by each other, but they depend on interaction. Fourthly, social development is the prerequisite for economic growth (Mazumdar. 1...
For women in India, the last century has marked a great amount of progress, but at times it has been as stubborn as all the centuries before it. Women have been expanding their roles in society, at home, and even politics with female Prime Minster Indira Gandhi. Gender roles are ingrained deeply, however, and that is no more apparent than in the current rape epidemic. Specifically the last 40 years have been some of the most promising for Indian women, but they have also seen an 875% increase in rape cases (Park). The answers to why this is happening, and why it is happening now may open up a much deeper issue. The social climate is changing; a power struggle between genders steadies the quantity of violence against women. Meanwhile, their empowerment to speak out and hold a rapist accountable brings it to the attention of the world. A longstanding injustice that has been occurring right bellow the surface for years may have reached its boiling point.
Many different psychological and physical tests can be done on victims of sexual abuse to help accurately understand their situations and how they have been affected by them. Though most sexual abuse case examinations are too difficult to get accurate statistics on, being there is so many variations in severity, age, circum...
Known to the world as a disgraceful, distasteful, and an immoral act of self pleasure, [prostitution] is recognized as a profession. Prostitution is also known to some people as freedom of choice and expression and those who choose that way of life and not allowing the influences of the normal sector to put a damper on their personal decisions (Spector, 2006). It has been around since the beginning of civilization. Not only is prostitution, itself is a controversial issue but defining it appears to have severa interpretations, both legally and socially. Despite the array of meanings, they all move toward defining the gender, personal gain, and the actions of the worker (Flowers, 1998). Because the definition only was pertaing to a certain gender, the term sex worker came into play to define all sexes and not excluding anyone who is associated with the sex world. There is not a specific gender in naming who is a prostitute. Prositutes can be children, women, as well as men. Sex workers come from all walks of life, from the child who was kidnapped and kept as a sex slave to the woman who need a fix, to the man who has experienced a fast way to obtain money. The environment in which prostitutes work are in all areas, the streets, bars, cars, dance clubs, hotel rooms, and private homes (Ditmore, Levy, & Willman, 2010). Sometimes depending on the home environment, the decision to become a prostitute is not a hard one, when there are many negative obstacles and variables that enhance the decision to enter the life of a prostitute (Barry, 1995). There are many
