"Hello I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC" (Wikipedia). Many people who watch television or online videos might come across the "Get a Mac" advertisement campaign launched by Apple Inc. personifying the more youthful Justin Long as the cool, hip Mac system and the older, more seasoned John Hodgman as the PC. The "Get a Mac" commercial series depicts the efficiency and user friendliness of Mac while comparing it to the problematic PC. Though the commercial series might seem convincing in favor of the Mac products, the commercial would obviously hide the flaws of the Macs. The actually masks the fact that PC comes out on top at the end of the day with great efficiency, the ability to do a diverse range of work, and its user-friendliness. But now the question is, how does one prove that the PC is triumphant over Mac.
The answer is quite simple actually. All people really need to do prove that PC is better than Macs is to just analyze two things, the hardware and the operating system. The hardware of the computer is basically all the key components that composes a computer. Basically, the four key components of computer to analyze is the CPU which is the brain of the computer, the motherboard which the heart of the computer, the RAM which is the memory processing device, and the graphics card which generates images onto the monitor. In addition to the computer hardware, the next part of the computer to analyze is the operating system. Worldnetweb defines an operating system as a "software that controls the execution of computer programs" which makes the use of the computer possible (Worldnetweb). The two major operating systems (OS for short) in the world are the Apple Macintosh OS and Microsoft Windows OS. Now that the terms hardware an...

It used to be that the choice between a Mac and a PC was pretty clear.
In 1984 Apple decided to implement this idea in its famous “1984” Macintosh commercial video and introduced their vision of the future of information era. In accordance to this strategy they described dystopian world that is related to the world where IBM dictates its rules, while Macintosh is depicted as a tool of resistance to this dictatorship. Through the facts known to the audience, intensely used in the emotional appeal, combined with the bright images of dystopian society, Apple’s was able to make one of the most outstanding ads in history.
In the advertisement, the men are mindlessly walking around and listening to orders. Viewers see a dystopian society, which is representative of IBM computers. They see the negative effects of the dystopian society (IBM computers) and how people are mindlessly walking around and listening to “Big Brother.” When the viewers of the commercial see this, they get a sense of hopelessness and identity loss. They do not want to simply follow orders every day. It is part of human nature to stand out and be unique. People do not want to know that they are being controlled by others. People like independence and following their own terms. The commercial offers an alternative to this misery and an opportunity to be unique. The woman who runs in to stop this dystopian society is representative of Apple’s Macintosh. Because the viewers do not like to be in despair or be subservient, they are in favor of this Apple Macintosh. This computer cures the despair of IBM computers. Because the viewers see this, they want to go out and buy an Apple Macintosh. They do not want to be stuck in the totalitarian regime of IBM. By appealing to the audience’s emotions to not be stuck in a dystopian society, Apple is able to effectively convince viewers to buy the new Macintosh
Seth Stevenson has written an exemplary article denoting his opinion of Apple’s advertising campaign using PC man, actor John Hodgman, versus Mac boy, actor Justin Long. The commentary is well documented with examples and opinions generated from Stevenson’s experience and knowledge. He generates a sense of belonging, to some of the audience by appealing to the experienced PC user’s knowledge of PC functionality. This inclusion may be lost on those not well versed in PC usage, or those whose only knowledge is that of a Macintosh.
Recent data shows that 78% of computer users use Microsoft Windows as their primary operating system. Microsoft has also just released a new operating system known as Vista that competes primarily with Apple’s Mac OSX.
My thesis is to show why Mac is better than PC. The debate has continued Mac vs. PC. Buying a Mac is like buying a Mercedes Benz it is quality and unique. Buying a PC well it’s like buying a bad copy of Mac. If your time has value you should use a Mac. There are hundreds and thosands of PC’s but they all are a waste of time and money. Tell your Windows friends that Windows 95/98 etc is a great graphical user interface, and it ought to be: It was borrowed from the Mac OS!

Apple was definitely “thinking different” when it created the new addition to the Macintosh family, the iMac. It’s creative design and refreshing departure from the computer industry standard of boring beige boxes is gaining this marvel many optimistic reviews. This new personal computer, which is pronounced eye-Mac –the “i” stands for Internet, combines the computer and the monitor in one unit making it, in effect, an updated version of the original one-piece Macintosh. That makes the iMac ideal for people who want to conserve desk space.
Windows based computers are more practical, easier to use, and more versatile than Macintosh computers. There has always been much debate over which is the better system. There are people who are die-hard Macintosh users, and there are people who are the complete opposite, and naturally people sitting somewhere in between. The fact remains that the majority of home and business users own Windows based systems because of their versatility in all areas.
The introduction of Apple’s Macintosh in 1984 revolutionized the personal computer industry (North, 2011). Although Jobs did not invent the

Throughout time, totalitarian dictators have tried to suppress individuality. When computers began to enter homes in the 1980s, many Americans feared the new technology and the massive amount of mass-produced computers that stripped away the personal nature of Personal Computers. With grand allusions to George Orwell’s dystopian novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four”, Apple’s 1984 Macintosh commercial contains gray, lifeless images of a dictator speaking to masses of brainwashed, robotic-like people via a mono-color video screen. An attractive girl runs through the complex wielding a sledgehammer and eventually shatters the screen. This unnamed girl is meant to represent the new Macintosh computers, saving humanity from the evils

Apple is “the world’s most colorful company,” Linzmayer, Owen . Apple Confidential 2.0. 1st. San Francisco, CA: No Starch Press, 2004. When looking at its meager beginnings Apple’s influence on the media could only be described as unique. Their product, style, and overall beliefs make the Apple Corporation a multi-billion dollar company with a general appeal for all ages. It is getting harder and harder to be an individual, so with Apple you can “rise above the norm” and be unique. Recently, this unique corporation has taken the media by storm, with their new line of products. Right along side these new products are a full line of new commercials to go along with them. These new commercials spawned from years of creative marketing done on Apple’s part. Studying the history of Apple is necessary to understanding their influence upon us today.
